Yeah clicky buttons would drive me insane.

Everything disabled except calls, iCloud stuff (iMessage, health, calendar, etc), emails, Snapchat and local weather alerts.

EA, Ubisoft, ActiBlizz. All for their various flavours of greedy nasty and/or sexual abuse. Bethesda is honestly likely to go on the list soon as well.

Can’t say I’m a fan of a country-specific holiday being featured like this in an intentionally neutral and international instance. Would have much preferred to see something for the trans day of remembrance.

Time to ditch #duckduckgo (lemmy.world)

In the last couple of months I have noticed an increasing trend of supplying me search results that are completely unrelated to the current query and tie back to my location or previous searches. I can say this with a high degree of certainty this is without a doubt beyond the 100th instance this has happened....

TheFeatureCreature,
@TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.world avatar

Odd. I wonder what is going on here because when I search that exact same query I get accurate results.

I’ve had iffy search results before but never anything that bad.

I completely trust them to handle this with responsibility, integrity, and honesty. Just like how I trust them to handle the ever-growing mass of trash, scams, fraud, fakes, etc that are completely choking the life out of their platform.

Oh wait.

Maybe see if you have an aviation museum in your area. Some cool planes for the kid to see (or maybe even touch!) and also something for you to enjoy as well. Some also have gift shops as well which would probably be of interest to him.

Yes please. Anything that would help distance Americans from us.

Posteo. Quite happy with it and it fits my needs.

Good. This has been badly needed for a while now. They’ve been pumping out OS versions and feature updates too quickly and not stopping to address problems. Some MacOS releases have been in outright dire shape on launch.

As NotJustBikes put it: EV’s are not here to save the planet; they’re here to save the car industry.

DDG isn’t all that great anymore either because they get their results from Bing - which has also gone to shit. Any alternative search providers that gets their results from Google or Bing (which is most of them) are all nearly worthless now, IMHO. The ones that operate their own engines and crawlers, such as Kagi, are the ones that give results like we used to get before enshittification.

But then again, with the death of web forums and everything being consolidated into a small handful of sites, site:reddit.com is required for almost every search query I do these days. If I want to read something written by an actual human being then I need to look up via Reddit or else results are just 98% AI-generated SEO garbage. Like I wish I was making that up but the majority of search results now are actual throwaway trash; pages upon pages of completely nonsensical generated rubbish.

Still have my 13 Mini and see no reason to “upgrade”. The difference between model generations is less than paper thin these days, especially if you’re not into using your phone as a camera.

When dealing with Google - assume everything. Data is Google’s business and you are the product when you use their services.

Thank you!

TheFeatureCreature,
@TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.world avatar

Oooh I suppose it does! I never even thought about that.

TheFeatureCreature,
@TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you!! I don’t give out full-res copies of my images as I do sell downloads and prints of them on various sites. Thank you, though! ;-;

TheFeatureCreature,
@TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you! You totally should! It’s not as hard as it first looks.

TheFeatureCreature,
@TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, I loved it when I played it. Thank you so much ;-;

TheFeatureCreature,
@TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you! It’s all about practice and learning!

TheFeatureCreature,

I need to play that some day.

This is, for sure, an issue carried over from Reddit, but it’s also a byproduct of another issue we carried over from Reddit: Most posts have a substantive issue.

Obviously not every community has this issue, but so many of them seemingly serve as nothing but news aggregators and do absolutely nothing to promote engagement or discussion. It is no surprise that the quality of comments has dropped when there are entire communities that are just copy-pasted news sludge with no other sense of community or engagement.

When the content on your website feels disposable then people will treat it as such. Lemmy as a whole has this exact same issue as Reddit does, which is not surprising because Lemmy is basically a clone of Reddit. I made a post on Beehaw a while ago about how the instance lacked any sense of community and I’ve seen similar sentiments expressed in other instances here and there. People, such as myself, who expected something better from Lemmy and getting frustrated when we can’t find it. There was a supreme opportunity presented to us when the Reddit migration began, to make new communities and spaces for discussion of a higher quality than Reddit could ever provide but Lemmy completely squandered that. Lemmy sucks - and that’s because it clones so much of Reddit… which also sucks.

Nearly every time myself or a family member has flown in recent years has been a frustrating, expensive, miserable experience. Huge delays, entire cancellations right before boarding, bags taking hours to be dropped, cramped and awful interiors, and that one time the emergency exit door beside me had an air leak which caused an ear-destroyingly loud squeal sound once we got up high enough.

Legitimately the most unpleasant form of transportation I can think of while also one of the most expensive - at least for domestic flights.

How do we know that everyone on the internet isn't just a bot?

I mean, there might be a secret AI technology that is so advanced to the point that it can mimic a real human, make posts and comments that looks like its written by a human and even intentionally doing speling mistakes to simulate human errors. How do we know that such AI hasn’t already infiltrated the internet and everything...

Bitching about the federal government while also begging them for help and money (which they will then waste) is basically the entire Albertan political system.

Around where I live, there has been a sharp increase in the amount of irresponsible dog owners who don’t follow bylaws and rules. Started around the time the pandemic hit and everyone was stuck indoors. On top of there being dog shit absolutely everywhere, there has also been a lot of off-leash dogs that aren’t trained properly and so being lunged at by a dog is not exactly uncommon these days. So this is good information to know.
