SolOrion,

To summarize, your IP is visible to your ISP (internet service provider) and a law company can basically send a legal letter asking your ISP to identify you and you will be identified and your address and details will be given to the Lawyers.

That’s pretty much how it works in the US, FWIW. From my understanding there are torrenting clients that have a killswitch that stops the download immediately if your VPN fails.

SolOrion,

They had a specific point in their designs where literally everything was just a silver tube with wings. SU-7, MiG-19, Su-17, etc.

Seems like sometime after that they figured out how to make everything look badass.

SolOrion,

Agreed completely, the Felon gets me and my AA bricked up.

SolOrion,

What are these screenshots from?

SolOrion,

Thanks! Honestly didn’t realize that was out.

SolOrion,

At the very least they used to, which is why there’s such a flip between 4e and 5e.

SolOrion,

It’s… more… sexualized? What? Could you explain that part to me lmao

SolOrion,

Kinda my thoughts but I wanted to see if it was actually just “PF2E bad because it’s canon is inclusive” or if there was something I was missing.

SolOrion,

I talk to them weekly at worst- I play dnd with them every Sunday, but we play online.

Actually physically seeing them in person? Maybe once a month.

SolOrion,

…I might have been banned from that subreddit about shaming people. I got banned from some small cooking sub like that for “spamming” with like two comments in the whole sub. Turns out one was a reply to the moderator, and I guess they didn’t like that.

Oooh, I couldn’t remember the name but it just hit me. Was it r/iamveryculinary? I don’t recall any brigading but I wasn’t there for long.

SolOrion,

Oh, wow. Yeah, TheLadyEve was the moderator I replied to, and the one that banned me. Good to have confirmation I did nothing wrong and they were just a terrible mod.

Thanks for the Reddit history tour lol.

SolOrion,

You can absolutely use a TV, even for FPS games. If the response time is terrible it might impact FPS games, but every other genre should be fine even if the input lag is significant.

I used a TV myself for 2-3 years at one point. I was playing Destiny 2, an FPS game, when it finally died on me lol.

SolOrion,

A family friend was sent to the hospital because, when at a church yard sale, he left his can of Sprite unattended and a bee got into it. When he picked it back up and drank from it he drank the bee, too, and it stung him in the throat.

So it’s probably not a common issue but I can confirm it’s happened at least once. I’m American, we don’t really have the spider problem in the same way. Thank god, I hate spiders.

Any strategies for guessing a passphrase that I am missing one word of?

I forgot my Bitwarden password and I know most of the words, I am missing one word and I know the starting letter of of the word. Is there like a strategy to guessing passwords? Is there a program to assist in guessing passwords? I feel like guessing manually would take months.

SolOrion,

Doesn’t matter. Passwords aren’t stored as plain text in any scenario where it is even remotely important to security. It’s entirely too easy to access otherwise.

They have absolutely no way to confirm your password is accurate unless it’s accurate.

SolOrion,

To elaborate on “it’s not much”: it’s $32 to renew in GA. They expire every 8 years. It’s pretty negligible. I imagine this varies pretty wildly by state but I doubt it’s ever going to be particularly expensive.

SolOrion,

Huh?

Could you explain this because it’s very confusing. Or are we not talking 5E?

It’s a fireball… that has a big AoE. So if it’s a roughly hand sized sphere but it deals damage in a big sphere… logically it has to explode, right?

Beyond that it’s got the word “explosion” in the spell description, at least on dnd beyond.

A bright streak flashes from your pointing finger to a point you choose within range and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame.

SolOrion,

Personally I love that! The best bosses are the ones that absolutely demolish me a dozen times while I figure them out.

It makes finally succeeding feel like I’ve accomplished something.

SolOrion,

I’m imagining a player asking, “laden or unladen?” The not-Sphinx immediately replying, “I don’t remember, but I wrote it down one sec- fuck I can’t read in the dark.”

Really wishing I could do this in my next game lmao.

Just got my first entry level gaming pc! i have about 30 bucks to spend, what should i get for it?

I have all my hardware set up, including a new chair. MineCraft and baulders gate 3, terraria, and some freebies are my only games so far. I have a massive console and physical game collection that I love, so I’m really just looking for things that are definitively better on pc, only on pc, or software that I may not know...

SolOrion,

Warthunder is free, though once you get pretty into it playing free is insanely grindy.

It’s a… war vehicle simulator, I guess? I mostly play planes, but tanks and boats also exist.

Someone else mentioned DCS. Planes in Warthunder are significantly less simulator, but they’re still not particularly arcade-y unless you’re playing the Arcade mode.

Warframe is also free. It’s kinda hit or miss, but if it hits it really hits.

Emulators are also cool- PCSX2 is a solid PS2 emulator, and RPCS3 is a fantastic PS3 emulator.

SolOrion,

I’m confused, what launcher supports these games?

SolOrion,

Everyone I’ve seen talking about it has said it got way better. It’s actually mostly positive on Steam now.

SolOrion,

Bames nond’s is having a stronk, call a Bondulance.

SolOrion,

Just checking the obvious- you’re streaming a window, right, and not a screen? Discord streams only have audio if you pick a single window to share, afaik.

SolOrion,

Am playing a Paladin in a 5e game rn, can confirm. If only I had more smite slots…

SolOrion,

There’s a whole ass site for exactly that in the megathread.

SolOrion,

FWIW, sometimes I can fix this by just unsubbing and resubbing. I think it only really happens to me with lemmy.ml, and from my understanding their servers are held together with duct tape and prayers so that’s probably why.

SolOrion,

Season 1 of Altered Carbon is still my favorite show.

SolOrion,

Honestly I’m not sure why it was such a drastic quality drop, but jesus christ it was,

SolOrion,

Destiny 2 got better and much, much worse in that aspect. You got a full campaign, The Red War, on release. The downside is that at this point The Red War (and all of the other year 1 dlc that I paid for) has been removed from the game and is no longer playable. What actually made me stop playing is that they started locking story content behind timed battlepasses. So if you want to have any clue what’s going on in the new DLC, you better have bought and played every battlepass since the last release. Absolutely weaponized FOMO.

Combine that with them resetting the minimum light several times… if I started playing Destiny 2 again right now on my existing characters I’d be at roughly the same spot as a new player, I’d just look cooler and have a lot of frustration over trying to constantly upgrade my existing guns to whatever my current light is. In all honesty I’d probably give up until light progression slowed down and just use whatever drops. Oh yeah, and I’d be in about $120 deeper than that new player.

SolOrion,

Honestly I preferred the game when it was under Activision. First game I’ve ever said that about lmao.

SolOrion,

That is very odd, actually. Huh.

SolOrion,

I’d second that last paragraph. At least download a tool to check your HDD out- I saw crystaldiskmark used in an LTT video and decided to install it and check out my drives. Turns out one of them has 60,000 hours on it and it’s seems to be starting to fail.

SolOrion,

I find playing is easy. I’ve never been a player in more than two campaigns at once, but I could probably swing that without any issues. There’s a bit of prep in making your character, but past that I just gotta show up and enjoy myself.

Running more than one sucks, though. I was, at one point, running two games with each having a session every other week and it was a pain in the ass.

Do people just not use the YouTube subscription feed?

I consistently hear people on YouTube complain that the subscribe button doesn’t do anything for viewers, now that channel notifications are controlled by the bell. But it does do something: it puts the videos from that channel in your subscription feed, which is readily accessible on all versions of YouTube. So why do people...

SolOrion,

Same here- I rarely ever use the subscription feed. I just have notifications on for the main channels I watch regularly, and I toss those into my watch later playlist. Whenever I feel like actually watching Youtube, I just open my watch later and start from the top.

where are people getting fans-style content

With the collapse of hqcollect I’m not really sure where to get the kind of content one would find on manyvids, patreon, or onlyfans. This stuff seems to not really show up in indexers on Usenet (dog, geek, etc) or my preferred private tracker (ipt). I’ve even gone as far as digging into spotweb for this stuff. Am I just in...

SolOrion,

lmao no. It has nothing to do with any ‘chomo’ stuff.

SolOrion,

Requiring IDs for that is extremely stupid, too.

SolOrion,

Either you’re confused or I’m confused.

Every VPN is going to obfuscate your IP. That is literally how they work. You don’t need a dedicated IP setting for them to do that.

Additionally, I don’t think a copyright holder would need to set up a honeypot. They can just start downloading a torrent like anyone else and they’ll grab all the IPs of people uploading/downloading since torrenting is p2p and you’re freely sharing your IP with others.

SolOrion,

If you can get over the dated graphics and the- from a modern perspective- janky combat, absolutely. It’s great.

SolOrion,

30 days of notice. You have to be inactive for at least 4 years, as well.

This is… not great, but honestly I don’t care as much as I did initially. Maybe give more warning, though.

SolOrion,

I drastically prefer old.reddit for desktop. For mobile, I used Baconreader personally. I wasn’t a fan of either on the mobile website.

SolOrion,

I was curious about the topic myself. In case you didn’t have any luck, I found this. Seems pretty simple to solve honestly. Wild that an ereader has telemetry to begin with, but at least it’s fixable.

SolOrion,

Really? I used PowerDeleteSuite myself, but I did it a few days before they locked up the API. My understanding was that PowerDeleteSuit needed API access to work.

SolOrion,

Yeah, please let me know how that goes. I’m curious.

Are you a moderator for any subreddits? I’ve heard that API access is still a thing if you’re a mod, so maybe that’s why?

SolOrion,

From my understanding it doesn’t matter- you can just make your own sub on the spot. There’s not (presently) a limit on subscribers or anything like that.

SolOrion,

Yeah, that’s my guess as well. It was definitely a bigger deal in previous editions, so I figure they just didn’t want to entirely scrap what was previously a very core mechanic even if it’s now very much less important.

SolOrion,

I get it, fwiw.

Something in my lizard brain feeds me serotonin when the number climbs.

SolOrion,

Being able to block a flair/tag inside a community just like we can block a user or an entire sub actually sounds like a great feature.

SolOrion,

Would that really matter, though? Afaik, they could still just… ask your ISP who that IP was assigned to, which is what they’re going to do with IPv4 anyways.
