I think the missing thing here is in that word “whole”. What does it mean to be “whole”? Where can I find information on what being whole is? Who decided on that information? Why is being “whole” something we all must aspire to?
The entire argument is based on the appeal to purity fallacy. They’ve invented this nebulous higher standard which, by definition, excludes the men they perceive as being “unwhole”.
There are already words for these things, there is no need to make up overly complicated variations on it, especially when these variations are actually more vague than just using the word integrity.

If they are special by virtue of being worn only at special occasions, then suits aren’t special at all because a large segment of the population wears them daily.
So the question remains: why wear suits at a wedding?
I printed a sprinkler to stick on the end of my watering can out of PLA.
Its been outside in all weather, including direct sunlight, for three years now. And water runs through it almost every day for 8 months of the year. It’s a little faded, but that’s it.
IMO the things people say about PLA regarding exposure are vastly over stated.

It’s possible he did and just cared more about how it affected him than how it affected his family.
I’ll be dealing with my dad’s wife in the same way inside of 15 years, and it’s not because he can’t see how she is. He just likes her money more than he likes his own family, I guess.
I think problem there is more that people think you need huge pipes of stuff just to go camping. I don’t know of single person anymore who camps with a tent. They just can’t handle being so close to nature, I guess, even though that’s purportedly the reason they burned 100 litres of fuel hauling their mobile home 40 foot camper to the trailer park RV site.
If you only own a single property you’re not the subject here. A lot of people wouldn’t even use the word landlord to describe you, because your income isn’t generated from ownership without production.
The word landlord is regressing to mean someone who owns multiple properties and just collects rent without having to do any value-generating work.
Please explain how to turn $210k into $1m with interest alone. I’ll even be generous and say you can take an additional 35 years of time to grow said interest.
Yeah but you know what, you always have a home. It is very unlikely the bank will ever foreclose on you, they rarely do that, even in 2008 almost nobody lost their homes.
But me, I lose my home on my landlords whim. At any given time I may have just 30 days to pack my life up and fuck off, and there’s nothing I can do about it.
You have stable permanent shelter. Don’t undervalue that just because you have to maintain it.
You don’t have the opportunity to move where you want when you’re paying 50% or more of your takehome on rent. As an owner you have way more opportunity because you have equity you can leverage if you want to move. Renters have no equity.
It is the furthest thing from two sides of the same coin.
Rights that allow me just 30 days to pack up and leave.
Right now the news in my area is rife with “renovictions” and landlords kicking people to “move family in” but they never have to give any proof of those things. There is regulation, but there is no enforcement.
No, you have 35 years to earn interest, because the first 35 years was spent saving the principal, remember? And remember how I said with interest alone? So no more $500/month contributions either.
So with that calculator, $210k at 4% interest for 35 years puts you at $849,611.66 with monthly compounding.
Can you link to the actual calculator you’re using for that? That page you linked is just their homepage. I’ve never seen a calculator that accounts for a DRIP.
No because if I owned a home I would have equity. Spending 50% of your income on shelter is a lot easier to swallow if you’re getting equity out of the deal.
If you’re renting, you get fuck nothing, even though you’re still spending money.
This is all assuming the value of your home doesn’t change at all over time, which is an utterly retarded assumption.
The reality is if you bought at least 3 years ago, it’s likely the value of your home has doubled already, putting your equity equal to your debt, without even accounting for mortgage payments in the meantime.
Oh you might also be interested to know that less-than-5k figure is about equivalent to what I can save every year as a renter. Except that’s just my rainy day fund and it gets spent on extraneous costs and I hardly actually save anything at all.
So you’re sitting pretty over there, despite your whining.
I’m thinking of building a new printer and would love to be able to make 2 color prints or dissolvable supports. Does anyone have any experience with this. I see 3 paths....
Have you looked into Trinamic’s fancy stepper drivers that have feedback for step counting and skipped steps and other things? They might be suitable because industrial optical encoders are like $800 and I’ve never seen one small enough to go on a nema 17 stepper.
Also, what tolerances are you trying to hold here? My ender 3 repeats within a thousandth of an inch. I haven’t upgraded the limit switches, but I got a new main board with trinamic drivers.
Given the physical properties of FDM, I don’t think chasing tolerances lower than that will actually improve the quality of prints at all, and surely one thou is close enough for what you’re trying to do.
No, the trinamic system I’m talking about is end stop phase counting in tandem with physical limit switches. It’s pretty accurate, one thou repeatability, like I said.
But like you point out, repeatability of the home position is not so useful if the axes of the two heads aren’t aligned in the first place. That’s a hardware issue that’s not going to be solved with encoders or software.
I’ve posted this to reddit before, but the post has gotten lost among an automod flurry. I’ve got some longer travel coming up and this thing has been on my mind again, so I’m looking for some suggestions!
Just curious on what you prefer. I’ve never really settled myself, but I’ve never tried anything thinner than a 1mm. I would like to try something thinner because 1mms dont feel like they bend enough for me.
