You’re saying it’s a Nokia.

The browser does not offer the option of excepting this error. It straight up refuses because the host does not provide a certificate.

PlutoniumAcid,
@PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, I did. It appears that the server is not even providing any cert at all to the browser, which is why this fails.

This looks to be a problem within the Yunohost software that generates the self-signed cert, so nothing I can do about it from the outside. I have posted an error report to the Yunohost forum.

PlutoniumAcid,
@PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, the problem is that the server is down supposed to do it all on its own and when that doesn’t work there’s no good way to hack it without confusing the clever system… It would then be forever a manual process.

Better to let the Yunohost Dec’s sort it out internally.

I m sure my neighbors will be sad. And later get a new cat.

PlutoniumAcid,

I am OK with them shitting not on my property. If I’d wanted cat shit, I’d get a cat. I don’t, so I don’t. These aren’t feral cats.

let the garden get a little bit overgrown

Doesn’t help. No mowing while I was away and it was bad when we came back. Oh, the stink :-(

On the regular, I want my lawn to be nice, not overgrown.

It’s like an outdoor Roomba. Very common in Europe, nothing special at all.

PlutoniumAcid,
@PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world avatar

So did I. Now I am old, and will enjoy the modern world.

What are some commonly known facts that are too bizarre for you to believe to be true?

For me it is the fact that our blood contains iron. I earlier used to believe the word stood for some ‘organic element’ since I couldn’t accept we had metal flowing through our supposed carbon-based bodies, till I realized that is where the taste and smell of blood comes from.

It has been literally twenty years since I last heard any mention of Abiword!

Then what are they doing? It seems very cumbersome to have to take a drive offline for routine maintenance.

PlutoniumAcid,
@PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world avatar

Actual, not academic. And I agree that a new cable is cheap, which is what I will do. My question is about avoiding throwing a mostly good cable in the trash.

PlutoniumAcid,
@PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world avatar

Hmm, interesting! I have a Synology switch, gotta read up on its capabilities.

I wanted to post a photo of my network tester but Lemmy gives me a JSON error.

Anyway, the tester is supposed to light up each strand one at a time, but what I get is disco fever.

PlutoniumAcid,
@PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, that’s not that easy, unfortunately, because each end of the network cable passes through an insulated wall, through a hole equal to the cable width = smaller than the plug. Even if I find the break, it is likely in the outdoors part of the cable where I would want an unbroken cable without a field repair.

Do not run fsck on a mounted device

So how do I run this on /dev/sda? I can’t very well unmount the OS drive…

I thought Octoprint can have more than 1 printer? Why do you have 3 separate containers?

Also, let’s say I connect my printer to my server with USB, how do I route that USB connection from the server into the container? How did you map that?

I have read the entire code base of the MINIX operating system. Does that count?

And yes, I agree with you - today’s LEGO sets that hide the studs are saddening.

nice quality of life things, but also not super high priority for a beginner.

I disagree on the “beginner” part. Yes, I am a beginner, but that does not mean I want an entry level device, nor that I want to replace this device soon.

I want one solid machine that I will be content with for years. So any QoL details would definitely be useful, even or especially to a beginner.

Others commented also in this vein - apparently it is very much hit or miss. With luck it’s a decent unit, no luck with and it’s a unit like yours. That variation alone is enough to turn me off.

I recognise this. Where’s it from?

I had an interesting one once:

I installed npm (Nginx Proxy Manager) without problems before I heard about Caddy.

Npm works well and requires zero maintenance, and it’s easy to manually add redirects via the web ui when I start new Docker containers.

“If it works, don’t fix it.” But if I didn’t have npm today I would try Caddy.

Runtipi: Homeserver management made easy (www.runtipi.io)

It has an ‘App store’ that’s been growing a lot lately. Writing new docker-compose.yaml files is easy (see: www.runtipi.io/docs/…/adding-a-new-app ), and exposing them behind NAT, e.g. from home it’s easy too (see: runtipi.io/…/expose-apps-with-cloudflare-tunnels )… But my favorite perk is the folder structure...

PlutoniumAcid,
@PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world avatar

I’d like to try this, but how will it work alongside my existing setup?

I run NPM to get SSL for my domain, so now there will be two services trying to do the same?

I also run Mattermost which is not in the Store here, so I will still need to run some things outside of this service - while still needing the SSL and reverse proxy.

Which filesystem should I use for stable storage?

Hello everyone. I’m going to build a new PC soon and I’m trying to maximize its reliability all I can. I’m using Debian Bookworm. I have a 1TB M2 SSD to boot on and a 4TB SATA SSD for storage. My goal is for the computer to last at least 10 years. It’s for personal use and work, playing games, making games, programming,...

I just reinstalled my home lab server with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. There was no choice in file system type.

Is it possible to convert from ext4 to btrfs?

If I should rather re-reinstall the server, how do I set the file system type during setup?

PlutoniumAcid,
@PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world avatar

Ubuntu setup wizard doesn’t offer btrfs, and the manual override requires me to set up all the partitions myself. I am not that good at Linux.

PlutoniumAcid,
@PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world avatar

Happy to read this. I also just ordered my first 3d printer (gift for my son) and settled on the Mini+ too because I want to have easy great results, not buying it to tinker.
