MotoAsh,

So… they don’t even teach what white flags mean?

MotoAsh,

Especially when there are a few examples of amazing actors that you can know and still sometimes struggle to recognize them in their characters. Like Gary Oldman, and … uh… OK well I’m not in a movie headspace, but he’s not the only one!

Tons of lesser names that play great side/background characters and it’s hard to tell, too, so I totally agree others need chances at lead characters.

Those are the actors I’m never tired of because their characters are almost always unique characters.

MotoAsh,

You’re right, they are both pretty hilarious. If only Biden were literally selling his as an NFT like Trump has.

MotoAsh,

Nah, that’s the thing with mental disorders and other things: They’re usually just an imbalance of otherwise normal behaviors/moods/etc. Most people should be able to relate to most mental disorders.

They just shouldn’t do the, “lol I’m so OCD!” thing, because that trivializes how nasty the real disorders get. The people with the disorders don’t just have flashes of silly desires or emotions (usually), but rather a literally debilitating to normal daily life disorder that no one would want to deal with.

MotoAsh,

ADHD is a great example, because EVERYONE has flips of attention or forgets what they were saying. They ARE normal behaviors, they just happen way more often to people with the disorder.

That’s also why they’re so easy to rationalize away.

I say this because there is too much self-diagnosis going on and too much trivialization, not because people excuse their disorders instead of seek help. Most people that need help cannot even consider getting it due to cost.

The gross harm trivialization does should not be sidestepped just because it can be said to happen sometimes. I do not speak from personal experience, but from talking to ‘normies’. THEY do not understand how nasty the real disorders are, and they also use this exact kind of joke to dismiss it.

I want to DE-normalize the use of the medical terms by non-medical people, not to raise awareness of how many people have disorders. The joke as portayed in the post is normalizing the disorders, not raising awareness. Someone disinterested in their task shares A LOT of qualities and thought processes of an ADHD person. Of course a psychologist or psychiatrist should easily tell the difference… but do the uneducated? Are the teenagers and immature who are willing to wear a condition without diagnosis able to tell?

Mind, I still laughed at the joke, I just want to push back against some interpretations of it.

MotoAsh,

I agree it is a problem as well. These are two sides of the same coin.

MotoAsh,

Isn’t the only difference between a normal fail and a crit fail just down to how creative the DM is feeling?

MotoAsh,

Does the DM ‘have’ to make it worse than a normal fail? I know some swear by it, but I’ve never actually looked if it’s any written rule or suggestion.

MotoAsh,

But what if centaur speak horse? And then it turns out that specific centaur was a lying horse rapist and set back species relations another century… Damn Karl.

MotoAsh,

I agree. People who say, “nuhuh, capitalism works!” are 99% of the time thinking of the basic concept of markets or money. Which … Very specifically, are NOT capitalism.

They are used (and abused) by capitalists, but they are not inventions of capitalists.

MotoAsh,

Your inability to imagine only reveals how pathetically greedy and underdeveloped you are.

I hope one day you develop an actual skill so you too can know the joys of not being a waste of oxygen.

MotoAsh,

Wow, you’re really so pathetically lazy you think I’m a tankie!? Bahahahahaha

Good job proving to us that you are indeed too stupid to learn on your own.

MotoAsh,

That one’s not really a red flag. If they keep all of the same assets and lighting settings, UE5 will look damn close if not identical. Updated code doesn’t mean it magically updates the graphics, though I bet plenty of UE-sourced assets have easy upgrade paths.

For an example of a game that doesn’t suck that did this, see Satisfactory. It looks nearly the same. Though I think some things have improved slightly, since they at least enabled a few things.

MotoAsh,

In this scam’s case, I’d say purely marketing wank so they could say it uses latest. For Satisfactory, I’m sure they mostly just don’t want their code base to fall behind before they’re even out of Early Access.

MotoAsh,

They’re literally too stupid to understand other perspectives so it’s all they have. It’s kind of sad. It’d be really sad if it weren’t so dangerous to be so stupid.

MotoAsh,

You’re both right.

Kickstarter is a separate kind of the same problem: Greedy fucks leveraging systems against us. Any time money is exchanged, there WILL be shitheads trying to get some for nothing.

It becomes a problem when the systems at hand reinforce those shysters. Kickstarter is rife with scams, and capitalism in general is rife with lazy greedy fucks. The problem is, they don’t get punished for being lazy greedy fucks.

They have to rip off and harm a bunch of people before anyone will do a damn thing, and even then… If it’s a rich person or corp, the government might just shrug and say it’d be too expensive to enforce the laws…

There is a BIG problem, and it’s not the consumers.

MotoAsh,

They were covering up the news about the ocean srreams possibly dying by 2025. They did it to cover up the news that they’re officially destroying the planet.

MotoAsh,

Are you saying the other half wouldn’t demand action?

This isn’t about what the idiots would do. This is about what leaders would’ve been asked to do if the headlines were about the oceans and not aliens.

Do not do the shady politicians’ job for them and help the distraction work… It was to cover so they could remain lazy.

MotoAsh,

Seriously, stop doing their work for them. The point was to keep the job less stressful. Just because they’d ignore everyone doesn’t mean they want to hear all of those calls to action.

MotoAsh,

I agree. My point is putting your lips to their ass to blow raspberries doesn’t help. A lot of people view it as unironic ass kissing.

MotoAsh,

If anyone gets their squats in, it’s snake. Dude should be caked up.

MotoAsh,

There is another example where the pemdas is even better covered than a simple parenthetical multiplication, but the answer there is the same: It’s the arbitrary syntax, not the math rules.

You guys are both correct. It’s 16 and the problem is a syntax that implies a wrong order of operations. The syntax isn’t wrong, either, just implicative in your example and seemingly arbitrary in the other example I wish I remembered.

MotoAsh,

I think Duke would end up ironically cool on the topic, sortof like Andrew Tate. Even that slimeball realizes he’s attracted to feminine energy and not X chromosomes.

MotoAsh,

Right?? For all of the utterly stupid things he says, he’s at least open on the trans issue. He has a very good angle for dealing with dumb cis men on the issue: Ask them what exactly they’re attracted to. It’s almost certainly not JUST the punani… I think he went on to describe some females he wouldn’t bang to demonstrate it’s not all about what sex they are. lol A good continuation of Ron White’s, “well you have a dick preference for porn, right?”.

Then better, he admitted trans females have the female juju, which… is like 90% of the point to a lot of trans people: Their personality is aligned with the other gender, or just pointing in a very different direction in general (though often people ‘randomly’ aligned don’t necessarily land on trans).

MotoAsh,

It’d be such a great situation for humor, too. I could see Duke being confused at some douchebro being upset at a hot trans chick. lol With good writing it wouldn’t even have to be painfully obvious, just Duke making a passing comment about how she looks groovy enough for his bed in response to a negative comment or something. There’s always a bar somewhere in those games (ok maybe not the old 2D ones), so it wouldn’t even be out of place.

MotoAsh,

They aren’t confusing the terms. It’s just that “libertarians” in the US are largely viewed as right-wing anti-authority, whereas on the global stage, they’re kindof like normal anarchist-lite. If you say, “well that’s not very specific”, then yes that’s correct.

MotoAsh,

They still aren’t confusing the terms. They made it very clear where they were coming from and now it’s been clarified further.

Do not demand that the discussion be as ignorant as you were at the start of it. That’s pathetic.

MotoAsh,

Everyone’s just looking past step 2? Call emergency services and then create a sterile field … by putting on a mask and gloves. I want a mask and glove that creates a sterile field just by putting them on.

The whole set of steps is rife with ridiculous.

MotoAsh, (edited )

Nahhh just make sure to have an abundance of sharp corners around when you pass out, first.

You might wake up brain damaged and with a splitting headache instead, but worth a shot.

MotoAsh,

Unpopular opinion, but some puppies are ugly little shitcakes.

MotoAsh,

Ahhh, from before we called anything funny worth sharing a meme. Good times, good times…

MotoAsh,

Didn’t YouTube literally do this with the question ads a few years ago? That’s when I decided I would NEVER be nice to advertisers. They’re selling my time for money, not giving me the money, and now they’re rude about it. 110% fuuuuuuck them.

MotoAsh,

Same, but the mere demand for attention was enough. Now, if I see an ad, I’ll make a script sit there and spend five minutes force-loading their pages to eat their bandwidth right back. They will lose money for every ad I see. Fuck them all.

MotoAsh,

I want them to lose a tangible amount. Showing me one ad will cost them the same as showing others hundreds of thousands.

MotoAsh,

What you have is trauma you need to work through. Not a sensitivity to make everyone else’s problem.

MotoAsh,

Nah, the heat thing they’re shown melting through blast doors. It at least happens pretty early on in Phantom Menace, and pretty sure I saw it happen in some Disney SW somewhere, too.

MotoAsh,

Yea, I just mean light sabers have a heat component to some weird degree. How ever that interacts with Wolverine or his adamantium is indeed a whole other thing. lol

I definitely agree adamantium should be able to stop a light saber whether or not it gets heated by continued blocking. I think at some point, Wolverine wouldn’t much like trying to live with a heated skeleton. But I mean, isn’t that also how the adamantium got there? Seems like he’d survive extended exposure either way, too.

MotoAsh,

Eh, while it’s not as common as other political psychosis, I have directly been told, “you just don’t like strong women.” to my face, for saying I didn’t like how they utterly failed to develop Rey as a character in the new Star Wars trilogy and the movies suck over all.

Apparently wanting good, cohesive writing where main characters actually have lessons to learn and growth to do makes me a sexist to them, all because I can point to Luke, a guy, failing a bunch?

Some people really DO need to “touch grass”.

MotoAsh,

In my case, this was literally in person to my face from a coworker with little media analysis skill. I never even made unclear statements beyond, “I don’t like Rey”, with further explanation about how her character development is highly lacking. Not the actress or anything like that, even.

Don’t be the equivalently stupid person on the other side of the coin, constantly refusing to admit that those internet weirdos are actual people in the real world somewhere.

MotoAsh,

Being misunderstood, even by dumbasses, is meaningful to me.

I value competent communication, and voluntarily misconstruing someone is peak failure to listen.

MotoAsh,

Every night isn’t good, but it’s totally normal once in a while. It’s just daydreaming or non-terror night terrors.

MotoAsh,

I mean, that ‘could’ be a straight up wrong thing to do if some of the calls were expecting errors to be able to escape. Yea, it’d be super weird and I don’t know if .NET would marshall them anywhere, but in some systems, that sort of, “obvious” fix could break shit. Sure, it’d be something doing something weird and kinda’ dumb, but … don’t we see “weird and dumb” all the time??

MotoAsh,

Seriously why I turn off autocorrect. 80% of the time, the autocorrection is worse than submitting a damn normal typo. It’s bad enough when it’s only trying to correct spelling. All the autopunctuation and junk is just pure suffering… I hate a one-character typo turning in to erasing a whole-ass wrong word with extra capitalization that’s not even supposed to be there just because I hit spacebar before noticing.

MotoAsh,

Not if I turn it off because I don’t want my phone analyzing everything I do. I don’t need a spy in my pocket. Especially true for voice assistants.

I type better than the fucking autocorrect corrects anyways, so I’ll take typos that are easy to spot over “corrected” words that are grammatically wrong and harder to spot every time.

MotoAsh,

You know what’s even more common amongst CEOs than being Indian? Using capitalism to organize and run the business.

It’s not indian CEOs, you utter numpty. It’s basic greed.

Swedish company Northvolt develops new state-of-the-art sodium-ion battery produced with locally sourced materials, entirely independent of traditional battery value chains (northvolt.com)

In a statement, Northvolt says its validated cell is more safe, cost-effective, and sustainable than conventional nickel, manganese and cobalt (NMC) or iron phosphate (LFP) chemistries and is produced with minerals such as iron and sodium that are abundant on global markets....

MotoAsh,

What do you mean, I cannot just buy a 1000 gallon beaker and pour stuff in?! My childhood was a lie.

MotoAsh,

Yea, but they’re WAY more complex than a giant beaker and if it’s an exothermic reaction, they basically always take extra, cooling and all sorts of control mechanisms, too. By saying, “but they basically are” is very specifically ignoring every single detail about the entire point.

It IS NOT like a giant beaker precisely because it needs all of the extra stuff on top of a giant container.

MotoAsh,

It’s the same hat and it travels once.
