Seeing the other post here about YouTuber that went downhill and seeing content creators I am familiar with makes me sad. But how about those that still makes great, high quality content?
I’d argue that none can claim to be high quality if they use tons of ads. I just can’t stand this sort of thing, and YouTube’s own paid system doesn’t block them all.
This said, my (free) adblockers currently work, and they block the sponsored stuff as well. When they work, I still really enjoy Kurzgesagt videos. They are excellent.
This guy tried (and failed) to make Elon more popular, so fuck him. I’m sure he got paid, and he doesn’t really give a shit, but using his celebrity like that was so fuckin lame.
Oof, I respect that you enjoy it, but it’s at the bottom of the list for me. I actually like Pizza Hut to some degree, but I go to local places usually. The best pizza is almost always at those local haunts!
So I’ve had something like 25-30 cavities filled in my life. I haven’t had a single cavity in 10 years, though. I brush only once a day, and floss. The trick is flouride rinse afterwards. That’s the secret.
This is vaporware until they release something. Fuck Star Citizen. They have made more money than any other game in the history of gaming, and still haven’t launched.
Yeah, I saw that again the other day and could not care less. I love the Lemmy mobile apps, and there’s nothing good left for Reddit in that area.
I actually was kind of annoyed the first week of Lemmy. It felt like a lot of keyboard warriors came over. It doesn’t feel as much like that any longer. I think if anyone didn’t stick around, it was the loud people pretending they were stronger than their addictions.
Good riddance, this is a much more chill crowd now. Maybe it’s just a bunch of old people… But eh, I’m old. We can all be old together now. Just stay the fuck off my lawn, and by that I mean the grass outside my apartment complex.
On Reddit it got so bad I stopped responding to replies entirely. I’m still not very regular about that, but whenever I check now, I’m shocked to find I’m not just getting blindly downvoted for potentially contraversial statements. It feels like a really good sign to me - progress in an era of downward spirals as low effort people all over the world spew their nonsense on everything.
Ask Lemmy is a place to ask thought provoking questions. The mods have been lenient with some of the recent posts on the basis that they must provoke thought for some people, but after seeing two posts essentially saying “what do you think of my stick?”, I believe we can raise the bar a bit on what kind of thoughts we want...
What if that stick is one of the most important sticks in history, and OP is just waiting to reveal the truth? What if it was there when Hitler died? Maybe it killed Hitler. You don’t know.
If you paid the content creators directly they’d receive tens of thousands of times more than any of your views gave them.
I used to work with a partner account, and I can tell you they make NOTHING for views compared to what Google makes.
So hey, you do you, but don’t try to convince us or yourself that this is for the content creators. That’s like saying you order Uber eats to support the drivers, but you never tip them.
