How often to you bail on a half-written post or response?

I have had a tendency since my earliest days on social media where I will get halfway or more through a response, and end up just cancelling it. Sometimes I feel like I’m just being to over the top with snark or otherwise don’t want to be that kind of person, but a lot of the time I’ll decide I just really don’t care...

Land_Strider,

Similar situation with me. Although I don’t complete my comments just to help Fediverse have more in it, because I don’t think the shit stuff even I wouldn’t like to be a part of it. Not saying you do it, cuz shit differs.

The times I hit cancel are usually when I can’t conclude my arguments satisfactorily. Sometimes my argument isn’t as contributive to the discussion, whether by sounding stretched or irrelevant, or by simply sounding incorrect or incoherent in the end. I bet a lot of people realize this as well when they put their thoughts into words and hit cancel. Nevertheless, it is a commendable action to both try to form the argument and send it to trash when you realize it isn’t reasonable in forms of communication.

Mostly the reason I complete my comments and hit submit is that Fediverse feels way less toxic, has a lot wider views, actually discusses a lot different takes, and generally less hivemind about upvotes/downvotes, although they matter less here.

Land_Strider,

I agree with the brain part. But I’m also glad there are a lot of people and communities here discussing things other platforms shy away from, or outright shun. Hard pills to swallow those topics are, but nevertheless makes me feel more sane seeing there are people not gobbling up any mainstream rhetoric all the time.

Land_Strider,

Empty sunflower seed shells. Straight up cracking them, despite me blocking it. Also zucchini boiled with tomato sauce. One fervent attempt at a watermelon slice, munching down half of it.

Land_Strider,

You become young again just as Saturday approaches, right?

Land_Strider,

Dammit, I wanna argue against this so bad. I feel like Fury Road is among the rare, if not only, reboot or sequel or whatever you’d call it for movies that had a fresh entry after so long that holds pretty decent in light of the originals. It has awesome visuals, pretty good pacing, immersive characters, decent interactions.

Yet now I feel like the main plot is kinda stitch-together, “rise up people!” Marvel kind of garbage, with catchy “witness me” kinda stuff sparkled. Local settlement warlords in style of Farcry 3 and up.

Land_Strider,

Is there a global word filter I can apply on my router or something? I can do pretty good without all that stuff with “GTA6” words in them. We have had enough fucking ads for the shitty broken **ckstar games in the last decade already.

Land_Strider,

Ah, plausible explanation for a crashed pilot that needs to be dead, I see.

Land_Strider,

Hunt servers definitely need an overhaul, especially with influx of new players these last few events brought in. Just a bit better tick rate, and fixing server downtime issues would be pretty nice. Game is slow enough that the servers wouldn’t need to be top tier.

Land_Strider,

Gotta get something for the marketing expenditure.

Land_Strider,

100 years was good enough for forever for humans I believe. If people could find only 19 more of such piece of shits, we could have bridged the scapegoat connection all the way back to Jesus.

Land_Strider,

Previous commenter meant “what could be worse than the bad luck leap year 2020?”

Land_Strider,

I’m pretty sure the seller is an Eve Online player.

Land_Strider,

Possibly very much like that, with series meaning episodes will be adjusted for action in each of them instead of working with a nice film flow of 2-3 hours.

A couple War Boys shots with some of the vehicles and environment effects look promising, but I’d put this one on a skeptical box then be surprised if it comes out good, rather than experience the opposite for the nth time.

Land_Strider,

Obviously you need to update its malware, spyware, ads and such definitions to accommodate for new things that popped up during those years, but it CommonSense is one of the best virtual protections around.

Land_Strider,

For the record, I blame Miller.

Land_Strider,

Seeing how many serious commenters omitted seatbelts, I’m thinking the seatbelt part comes for them when the car starts bitching about it.

Land_Strider,

Tbh this thing sounds like that very much. It may not be an assassination attempt at all, ut the ridiculous rules to “show face when speaking so we can see how do you feel about what you say” is very much bullshit in this scenario. A proper written essay about the working of Valve would suit the questions way better than having someone put in person in a limited time to answer things out of mind under pressure.

Land_Strider,

Read section: bottom left; No change given, sort out your own shit.

Land_Strider,

This really is a nice place. Even most engaged posts hardly get over 50 comments usually, but 48 of those comments are on topic, sane and unique even on a fandom community. Arguments are heated but mostly contribute at least some point of view rather than being rabid spoutings that either get upvoted (or awarded) to skies above or downvoted to hell unanimously.

We have way fewer posts, even fewer do in niche communities. However, the posts on the bigger communities are quite enough to pass the time. What we actually need is more people interacting with the seemingly dead niche communities of their fandoms and interests.

Big communities keep crossposting a lot of daily news or magazine-worth happenings, which kinda gets tiring after seeing the same post for the 5th time. Hiding crossposts per user settings would be nice to prevent the feeling of only same posts being posted for interested non-fediverse users.

Land_Strider,

Even if there weren’t any planned attacks at the moment, the preventive and protective actions are usually done regardless of the temporary costs.

Without going much political, I can say that move was one of the most critical ones, maybe right after preventing nuclear warfare, because I don’t want to think how much worse the American retaliation in the last 20 years would be if there was even one more kamikaze plane, especially considering that we now measure warcrimes in magnitudes of 9/11.

Land_Strider,

1 and 2 were pretty good. A few cutscenes here and there and the rest is just good map design with a few scripted actions. 4 is still my most favourite Call of Duty multiplayer experience to day, but the single player campaign is so rushable even on the highest difficulty. It still has enjoyable bot butchering and cool Ac-130 and Capt. McMillian sniper missions. Gaz is still my most favourite Call of Duty character, alas deader than dead. 5 and 7 has some good cinematic experiences, like the WWII Pacific landings, jungle combat, bomber/fighter combat, CIA Vietnam memories, Russian Gulag rebellion. Plus 4 MP zombie scenarios can be pretty enjoyable. 6 has a few missions that are pretty cool, like the blackout night combats in the US cities.

Although I played up to 10, which is iirc Call of Duty Ghosts, they were mostly shit. I think back in 2018, I had learned the existence of a Call of Duty 1 expansion called United Offensive, which even at that date, after experiencing whole lotta shooters to that day like Arma 3, CSs, Battlefields, Doom, Quake, Halflife, Red Orchestra, Medal of Honor,.etc., still held up to a new fun mixed with nostalgia and fun on a game I hadn’t played before.

Land_Strider,

No, they were talking about becoming Turkish

Land_Strider,

There is a 2balkan4you community here, isn’t there?

Land_Strider,

Tried auto-cock for a while and turned it off, my texting life has been considerably more ppleasurable.

Connect your TV power cable to an outlet or splitter with a switch, turn the switch off every time you won’t watch tv for long. Enjoy 90% defense against remotejackers and 1% higher calorie burn bonus.

Land_Strider,

I have an LG Oled but that feature is not an automatic one, nor it is recommended to do it every day. Maybe LG shifted policy on it to activate it automatically at a tight interval on never models (mine is 2021 model), but tbh I haven’t seen it necessary yet, although I have used the TV both as a TV and a PC screen with constant interfaces, albeit taking care as to rest the screen regularly via watching movies, adjusting brightness, and using that offline refresh feature once in a month. I believe it is fairly acceptable to turn off Oleds completely, unless you want absolutely no responsibility on keeping them healthy.

Land_Strider,

No it is the background wall.

Land_Strider,

It is a gradual rollout. as many have said. I hadn’t seen the Youtube’s first warning until today, although people have be talking about it for a few weeks now.

Land_Strider,

Hey, it is so nice to read someone mention Tyranny out of the blue. How would you rate the combat experience in Path of the Damned difficulty, compared to Hard difficulty? In my experience, Hard difficulty had become really easy and so tedious after the Ascension Hall that I mostly stopped using tactical pauses and maybe even target/ability selection after a while.

Combat feeling, even on Hard, which should pose some threat at all times, was the only disappointing thing in this game for me. Would you recommend a playthrough with Path of the Damned difficulty, and maybe an according gameplay route?

Land_Strider,

Thanks for the insight. I had a random build that came up as the inventories and the characters went and didn’t have any need to actually plan any of my characters in Hard, but I may have at least the encouragement to maybe plan my characters in PotD when I play the game again.

Land_Strider,

Not a physical manual tome, but this Prima Guide for TESIV: Oblivion is something that is enough for me to convert to pdf.

Land_Strider,

I had it while playing the game all those years ago. I didn’t have much access to internet back then, and although I don’t remember the specifics, I remember looking up some deadra/Mehrunes Dagon oblivion planes for some stuff. And a few of the annoying quests, like Glarthir’s Paranoia quest in Skingrad.

Nevertheless, it was a fine thing to skim through even without needing/wanting to find something specific. The page background, layouts, font and colors all being in sync with tbe game still adds a ton to the immersion of that game.

Land_Strider,

"Whatever happens, happens."

  • Spike Spiegel, Cowboy Bebop.

It is a space anime with characters living quick and dangerous, but due to the way it is written, hand-animated, detailed, and grounded to a heavy extent, this one anime hits different as I age. It is itself targeting an older audience compared other blockbuster animes, but nevertheless it is one that keeps some aspects with you through the rewatches, but can also have substantial new feelings as you gain different life experiences. All of the main characters themselves have some kind of a past that is weighing them down through their current affairs, but their power to go on can be mostly summarized to living a life in limbo all the while trying to cope with it via simple tough-guy acts of trying to be indifferent to it.

It is not a good mantra that can be maintained for long. It is rather something that helps delaying the immediate feelings before the acceptance comes.

Land_Strider,

Hmm, do you have something to hide? A camera twerk a day keeps the search orders away!

Land_Strider,

I’m starting to be believe most of these “if anyone in Gaza says this, it can’t be true” naysayers only count deaths if there are at least 3 news about every singe dead or maybe 5 Facebook posts as well. It is still not reasonable if the said news or posts don’t have blonde hair blue eyes or lined-up upper/lower torso combinations.

Matching the amount of dropped bombs to civilian density, amount of liquidifed buildings, hospital and morgue lists, lied-about shootings and airstrikes? What Hamas propaganda is this? This line of thinking is what causes governments to put chips in our brains. But not Israel government, because they are the leaders of genocide victims of 80 years ago and since they are the pet bulldog of the U.S. in the Middle East, they are definitely the good guys.

Anyway, waiting for some Israeli news agency to call the whole list of the dead BS because they found one guy in that list becoming a new resident in their 10.000 inmate prisons and some random bot calling me to eat this comment in the next 3 days.

Land_Strider,

… is supported by my country so they are the good guys

Holy fuck was this information and reasoning ordained to you by some invisible, omnipotent, and master-of-paradoxes being by any chanc e?

Land_Strider,

What the hell does it to do with this, or anything?

Land_Strider,

When the shady grey-robbed pyrotechnics carries an AK around, you gotta armor up to save your ass.

Land_Strider,

Don’t sin! It is unkind to reject a well-intended gift.

Land_Strider,

At what point will you be considering big corps=government in the U.S.? We all know big oil has tremendous lobby, we all have evidence the military industry that works for profit more than anything else is responsible for most American wars in the last several decades. We all know what manchild is ruining everything he touches and shakes hands with government officials. We all know that Facebook and Cambridge Analytica manipulation machine.

Corporates and capitalism might not directly do legislation or have the executive power, but the U.S. government at least is a for-profit organization for a long while now, and evidently profits are not made with showing oppressed people suffering when you are gaining shitloads of money by selling weapons/investing in the oppressor.

Land_Strider,

Excellent gif from and excellent animated movie.

Land_Strider,

You missed something in your math there. IDF is considering the October 7th attack as “10 time worse than 9/11” so up those numbers close to 900,000. Maybe make it 911,911 for the fun propaganda value. With more than half of the 2.2 million Gaza population (although maybe we should start counting the West Bank killings as it is ramping up, too) being children and seeing how Israeli government doesn’t discriminate , maybe they can quench their bloodthrist with young blood alone, even.

Land_Strider,

Are you a cult leader, by chance?
