Hi there, the Artemis private beta rollout has just started! @hariette will be emailing 50 signup sheet users, while @lilkev will be adding 50 users from Artemis Discord. The order will be based on the submissions to the private beta signup form, as well as general activity within the Artemis community....
Some users wonder if the dev will be charged for having it still up, others argue Reddit can't charge him without having signed a contract. Everyone is confused as to why the API change hasn't made it inoperable....
Are you willing to test. If Boost is working it's a matter of any day it will shut off. Boost Dev is already making a lemmy app. Reddit is gonna die and hard!
Curious about if there is any discernable difference anyone can see if they may have popped in to Reddit today? I know it's probably naive to think there would be a big difference first day....
@ngmi kbin and lemmy normally run smoothly i can say that being on it for 2 weeks since the blackout. kbin sometimes goes down cause of traffic and lemmy.world went down today and having some ruff patches but should be fixed soon. they just did a massive upgrade on there instances
Liftoff, Connect, Thunder and wefwef , I think wefwef is having issues right now. still alpha but its really nice. i think devs are trying to stop hitting the api rate limit or something. wefwef is just like apollo but for android and ios
I went all out and deleted my account out right. didn't care if my comments or what not cameback they where just to reddit. I hit the frontpage 5x in 6 years but that was crossposted content I found on reddit sorting by rising :P Anyway at least you got everything!
IF you think its gonna get worse when all the redditors come over cause of third-party apps getting squashed wait until reddit shuts off old reddit. Hell will break loose!
I wanted to like BR but it lacked so much. Android app was better then ios but i couldn't do basic things that made me reddit the way i wanted to reddit. plus the devs barely answered anything on the sub. Sad to see them go!
"I just released a really important Apollo update that adds the ability for users with remaining subscription time left to decline an automatic refund. Devs pay refunds out of pocket, and this will be about $250K, so I thank you for your consideration. ❤️ Also, this update includes an amazing "Goodbye Apollo Wallpaper Set”...
There are some new features, collapsible comments, magazine sorting, the settings page which has an app icon switcher as well as a couple accessibility options!...
I wanted to love #Lemmy as a replacement for #Reddit but I'm experiencing a whole bunch of bugs with it so far.
Feed refreshes as I try to read.
I'll be on one post, come back later and it's changed.
post comments stick around as I read other posts.
My profile seems borked and I cant see my comments.
But. I'm actually finding I'm not really missing reddit? I totally wish Lemmy and pals well, but I no longer feel the need to consume news / content like that.
@christian try kbin it has a better experience then lemmy . kbin has Threads (Post like Reddit) Microblogging (Like twitter) and Magazines (Subreddits) I think lemmy was the first thing redditors turned to when they left but it really isn't helpful and no FAQ kinda. kbin is kinda self explanatory in a way. it reminds me of reddit so much. i have an account on lemmy and have some subs but Don't really use them much. i post there now and then but kbin is where all the action is! https://kbin.social/ create an account and ask anyone.
Who cares, narwhal app sucks narwhal 2 is probably promising. they will change or the price will fluxuate depending on the api calls power users use. What's the point. you will be browsing and worrying about rate limits and if you have to pay more even though you just paid for the subscription.
Is there a kbin Android app yet? I know the web app works, which is what I'm using now, but would really like a native app. I'm assuming these are being worked on and just need time to bake!
Reddit refugee here since the 12th. i'm glad i gave up my subs and left reddit. I haven't looked back. the whole thought of the #fediverse and being able to talk to anyone from other instances is amazing!
I see a lot of comments from bootlickers on how the protests are dumb and stupid and dont work and engagement metrics are still holding but the quality of posts and comments has noticeably depreciated imo. So much so that whenever I visit the site Im actually shocked at how bad it is.
Who checks reddit anymore? I don't check the site at all. even if they did let third party apps back u/spez could always go back on his word. lemmy and the #fediverse where here to catch us when we became stranded!
I think most of us who moved here from Reddit are enjoying our time here on kbin.social. We've left a lot of the riff-raff behind us and made new friends with intelligent, thoughtful members of kbin, Lemmy, Mastodon, etc.....
I agree with this but also I have an account on lemmy mastodon and kbin. the only reason i use kbin so much is because it has Threads, Microblogging and magazines. I really like the microblogging cause i can see all the mastodon and other people. yea but we do need to go to smaller servers and still interact. Whatever Meta touches turns to shit!
I stopped using it around when the blackouts started, now it's gone. Is there a way to get them to delete all my data after having my account deleted or did I have to do that before deleting my account
I deleted my account on the second day of the blackout. I didn't care about any of it because it wasn't personal. mostly good crosspost that got me to the front page 5x in 6 years lol. oh well
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group, made the announcement minutes after the leader of Belarus announced successful talks with the Wagner boss.
I'm new to the #fediverse
I ask, is there an app or service that allows you to view all or most Fediverse sites? For example, an app that views Mastodon, Lemmy, etc. in the same feed? Sorry if this is a stupid question :p
@FrostKing104 If you have a kbin or lemmy account you can use the lemmy or kbin interface to interact with all on the fediverse as far as post replying, commenting etc.. Mastodon is a microblogging site dosen't have an interface like lemmy or kbin so all the mastodon people can post but it will show up under the microblogging section of kbin and they can only reply to people/comment on people or topics they follow
This would suck ass. Meta would then buy up the #fediverse shares or do some kinda huge stake in it. then kill it off then we are back to facebook and twitter! How do we stop this?
We are the Wisconsin Center for Film and Theater Research (WCFTR), an archive preserving materials from the entertainment industries. We are home to over three hundred collections from playwrights, television and movie writers, producers, actors, designers, directors, and production companies.
Housed in the Wisconsin Historical Society’s Library-Archives Division, the WCFTR is one of the world’s most accessible #archives and is regularly visited by researchers from around the world. Research undertaken in its collections has revolutionized the scholarship of American #cinema, #theater, and #television.
We use social media to share news about new collections, upcoming events, interesting materials we've found, and projects that we're working on -- as well as learning about what you're working on!
@wcftr Welcome as i always say. Glad you came to the #fediverse and not Reddit cause reddit is gonna burn down and we are all here to witness it first hand!
I have a Mastadon, AND a Kbin now. I'm trying to sign up for different Federated services and link 'em all together. I'm loving this new protocol so much. It's quiet...
It feels similar to the early 2000's internet and I'm loving it.
A pic of me just browsing the @ArtemisApp magazine on Artemis.
We just coded up the last bits for the first limited release. Feeling like a real #kbin app! (#lemmy support planned for next month).
What we have in dev build:
Browse Home or the magazine of your choice
See images and open links (in app)

See comments (collapse threads at your will)
Vote and boost 🚀
Huge thanks to our first volounteer dev for helping w some of these! (What’s ur @ here lol?) We’re also getting an Android dev involve to help w giving as much love and care.
Open sourcing will come once we get the codebase in a good place. Kitchen gets a bit messy this early 👩🍳
@hariette Thanks. yea i was on ios for 2 years came back to android cause of rif for reddit but now thats gone so now im a refugge :P got a home now on lemmy and kbin
I'm working on a doc with estimates for releases schedules (private and public) and feature timeline. It'll be an evolving doc but wanted to give more clarity in terms of expectations for everybody!
I'll share the doc EOD (PST).
But basically, private beta will start ramping up end of month. Initially supporting #kbin instances. But adding #lemmy support midway.
@hariette Will it be free or what is going on with that? Just wondering. all these apps popping up all over and eventually somebody has to break it to us. Artimus looks premium!
"[Mastodon] is niche and it will stay niche, and as above I don’t think the conditions that existed in November 2022 for a potential surge in adoption will exist again. Mastodon had its chance and it blew it"
Can I filter out posts that contain the word "Reddit" ?
That’d be nice
How come I can’t post a thread from mastodon to kbin or lemmy? (kbin.social)
Whenever I post something to kbin it just shows up under the microblogging section of that magazine It doesn’t show up as a thread....
threads is already going great 💀 (lemmy.world)

Why don't upvotes count? (kbin.social)
What is the possible reason why upvotes in Kbin do not add up to the overall Reputation, but downvotes do?
Any change today? (kbin.social)

Does anybody feel like the quality of reddit has already dropped massively? (kbin.social)
I see a lot of comments from bootlickers on how the protests are dumb and stupid and dont work and engagement metrics are still holding but the quality of posts and comments has noticeably depreciated imo. So much so that whenever I visit the site Im actually shocked at how bad it is.
