Fades,

Don’t discount the impact of living in a capitalist nightmare

Fades,

There are ways around that, for example I watch my Plex server on an Apple TV and there is an option that will reduce loud sounds so I can hear dialogue without being blasted away at other parts

Fades,

Just not true. I don’t have a twitch account and visited to see what it’s all about and it’s all over. Even if you peek inside the just chatting category it’s a huge majority of the top content

Of anything, what you state is the result of content filtering for yourself and not for everyone at large.

Fades,

I love Stargate, I wish I was excited for this game. I wasn’t all that impressed by the demos I saw a few years ago.

Hope in those years the final product changes my mind

Fades,

Jedi survivor didn’t have a big number of bugs, there were some yes and they were patched almost immediately. Anecdotally, I played it starting week one and didn’t experience a single bug, you’re just parroting what you read about and framing it as the average experience.

If you’re going to give an example, how about an actual buggy mess of a launch like cyberpunk, especially since you are also talking about incompleteness. Jedi survivor was an excellent and completed game on launch

Fades,

harder and harder to take seriously

How many times does Bethesda have to shit in your mouth to realize they themselves are shit? Fallout 4 was a downgrade from NV, then fallout 76, rereleasing the same game over and over again, and now starfield.

We should be way passed “hard to take them seriously”

Fades,

I’d be surprised if they even did anything “next gen”. Shuts gonna be like that GTA rerelease, hardly (if any) new textures or optimizations, just a cash grab after starfield choked

Fades,

You sure can

Fades,

It’s not the same, how many children are going to pornhub to watch video games and happens to see and click on a recommended stream for actual porn?

Your false dichotomy does not hold up.

Fades,

It’s not the same, porn you have to search out. They’re already on twitch for other reasons and are far more likely to be suggested/shown more vulgar content like “artistic nudity”.

Fades,

I’ll take “buy out directly leading to enshittification” for 500, Alex

Fades,

Now that’s worth a subscription

Fades,

WHO GIVES A FUCK??? This is a games sub not an Amazon/twitch policy review sub. Jesus fucking Christ

Fades,

Well said, that is my take as well. There a difference between equality and everyone has the same capabilities and potential

Fades,

Nah season 2 was a lot of fun. Season 3 tho…

Fades,

If you ever feel the urge to dig into trek history, check this out: ds9redefined.wordpress.comds9redefined.wordpress.com/screenshots/

They have a discord where you can find their FTP to download the upscaled/ai episodes. DS9 is complete and they are working on wrapping season 1 of voyager currently.

I’ve gone through multiple ai / upscale attempts and this one I like the most!

If you love SNW, you will likely enjoy ds9 and voy

Fades,

Absolutely not mArVeL-esque at all, did we watch the same show??

I swear to god anytime a non-comedy show includes some levity these days there’s always someone that manages to cry and make it about marvel.

Fades,

Been there, I still cringe about that moment. Couldn’t fuck for a bit after that

Fades,

Needs a trigger warning

Fades,

Which episode is this? I can’t seem to remember

Fades,

Part of why I loved every episode of Stargate she was in, smokin!

Are agile scrums an outdated idea?

Here's a video on YouTube making the case for why agile was an innovative methodology when it was first introduced 20 years ago.

However, he argues these days, daily scrums are a waste of time, and many organisations would be better off automating their reporting processes, giving teams more autonomy, and letting people get on with their work:

https://youtu.be/KJ5u_Kui1sU?si=M_VLET7v0wCP4gHq

A few of my thoughts.

First, it's worth noting that many organisations that claim to be "agile" aren't, and many that claim to use agile processes don't.

Just as a refresher, here's the key values and principles from the agile manifesto: http://agilemanifesto.org/

  1. Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
  2. Working software over comprehensive documentation
  3. Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
  4. Responding to change over following a plan
  • Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of valuable software.
  • Welcome changing requirements, even late in development. Agile processes harness change for the customer's competitive advantage.
  • Deliver working software frequently, from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, with a preference to the shorter timescale.
  • Business people and developers must work together daily throughout the project.
  • Build projects around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done.
  • The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to and within a development team is face-to-face conversation.
  • Working software is the primary measure of progress.
  • Agile processes promote sustainable development. The sponsors, developers, and users should be able to maintain a constant pace indefinitely.
  • Continuous attention to technical excellence and good design enhances agility.
  • Simplicity--the art of maximizing the amount of work not done--is essential.
  • The best architectures, requirements, and designs emerge from self-organizing teams.
  • At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.

Your workplace isn't agile if your team is micromanaged from above; if you have a kanban board filled with planning, documentation, and reporting tasks; if your organisation is driven by processes and procedures; if you don't have autonomous cross-functional teams.

Yet in many "agile" organisations, I've noticed that the basic principles of agile are ignored, and what you have is micromanagement through scrums and kanban boards.

And especially outside software development teams, agile tends to just be a hollow buzzword. (I once met a manager at a conference who talked up how agile his business was, and didn't believe me when I said agile was originally a software development methodology — one he revealed he wasn't following the principles of.)

@technology

Fades,

My company goes the opposite way and holds team standup and then a scrum of scrums after with everyone because my manager is fucking brain dead. Fortune 500 btw

Fades,

You missed one: depression

Fades,

Sleeping?? Half these people are buried under bodies and or dirt

Fades,

Personally I prefer the subtle notes from a ripe squeeze of biomimetic gel

Fades,

Nobody is putting you on a list for downloading tails or kali, both of which are absolutely legitimate and have plenty of uses that aren’t sus

Fades,

That’s quite a reductive summary given how compared to last they have more cash on hand and far less costs

Fades,

They’ll die or beg to die just like all of those monkeys

wired.com/…/elon-musk-pcrm-neuralink-monkey-death…

How about you step up and be patient zero Mr phony stark wannabe

Fades,

Does it lean more arcade or sim?

Fades,

I didn’t even last a fuckin week… I tried putting off the final mission until I was just so bored with everything else and then I lost everything not knowing that was the way to do ng+. No shot im playing the same fucking missions again that soon, they were not that good to begin with tbh. At least with Skyrim I actually fucking cared about the plots and quests.

The only way this game could span years is if modders put in a lot of unpaid hard work. Shame on you Bethesda, how about YOU do the fucking work before you try to sell us on a shell of a game. Skyrim could and did do years without needing mods (tho the mods really made it shine), it’s a completely different story for sf

The only bright spot left is the creation kit coming in ‘24 and even then it’ll take time for good mods to come about

Fades,

Don’t bother till it’s on sale, by then the creation kit will have dropped and modders will be able to do Bethesda’s job for them for free.

Fades,

Exactly, it’s so fucking gross. Free labor, so why wouldn’t they I guess

Fades,

Wasn’t expecting to laugh that much, excellent clip selection

Fades,

Don’t look now but the entire goddamn planet is hurtling towards another WW

Fades,

Wow looks excellent! My buddy and I have been playing groundbranch which is also a realistic fps sim but it’s still in alpha or whatever. Missing the IFAKs and the pain management and such but looks like this game has that from the start!

Fades,

Been have a real rough morning and this was exactly what I needed. Bless up, mon capitan picard

Fades,

Billionaires truly believe they deserve our money. There is no need for earning because they see themselves as owners of it all from the start, entitled to fuck

Fades,

Sounds like a job for the seven seas

Fades,

There are mods that solve these issues.

Fades,

so what, do you tip in app and pay in cash on delivery? Because most drivers either will not take the order or take it and deliver it a long time after it was made because you tipped them nothing.

That’s what in-app tipping is really for, you’re bidding for service

Fades,

well that is just lovely

Fades,

who knows, maybe the charging makes a sound or something else, not the laser itself
