Developed by Hyper Games and based on Finnish author Tove Jansson’s beloved Moomin series — which debuted a whopping 78 years ago — the brand-new ‘Friends in the Valley’ trailer below gives an idea of the gameplay and “over 50” characters you’ll encounter on a musical quest that, , is inspired by the original...
It wasn’t until only several years ago that I learned about Tove Jansson’s Moomin stories. Since then, they’ve become some of my favorite little characters. You can find full episodes of the old anime on YouTube and snuffkin is easily my favorite of the bunch. I want his hat for myself.
Boston Dynamics turned its robot dog into a talking tour guide using AI as seen in a somewhat unsettling video posted by Boston Dynamics. Boston Dynamics used OpenAI’s ChatGPT API, along with some open-source large language models (LLM) to carefully train its responses. It then outfitted the bot with a speaker, added...
Someday we’ll all be dead and robot dogs will be giving tours to nothing. Some alien species will come across our planet and learn all about us through the ways in which the robots interact with nobody.
Shawna Trpcic, an Emmy-nominated costume designer best known for her work on several Star Wars series on Disney+ and her collaborations with Joss Whedon, has died, her agency Gersh and Lucasfilm confirmed. It’s a fair question, but it makes me want to ask why downvotes even matter to anyone. They are usually outnumbered by upvotes in the first place, & aren’t even federated across instances (at least on Kbin).
It’s never about creating a better society, just oppression and exploitation. The more criminals you easily fabricate, the more indentured servants you easily get.
I’m sure a five minute wait playing RE4 on your phone will also leave you hunting for a charger at your next destination as well. As cool as it would be to play big games, my phone is just too important for everything else.
I can imagine some scenarios where 20m feels like a long time, but it goes by really quickly if you’re doing something. I set mine to update then took a shower. I honestly expected it to take more than an hour, but the 20m flew by and the computer was ready to go before I was.
I do not need to do photo editing or anything like that. I need to be able to make graphics for my business’ social media, and to display on my in store monitors. I get marketing graphics from different publishers whose products i sell, and i need to be able to add my business name and other info....
The Mrs. is a professional graphic designer. Of course Adobe Illustrator is what she uses, but she recommends either Affinity Designer or Canva. I also see her using Procreate on iPad with an Apple Pencil a lot.
Edit: she’s definitely recommending Canva. It’s got a lot of templates specifically catered towards social media, and is easy to learn.
Now that you mention it, I have an apple leather case from the 12 era on right now and the patina pattern is absolutely horrendous. I might need to put some oil over it or something.

I am playing the trails series for the first time, and I’m doing it by order of release. I’m at the finale chapter of Trails to Azure and I’m super excited to finally reach the cold steel saga, but should I play Nayuta first? (I kind of think I should, but I don’t know if it’s related to everything else.)
The social network factor was a culture shock for me. You literally contact businesses and even government officials over Facebook/Facebook Messenger. Businesses don’t have their own websites, just Facebook profiles. If you’re looking for a job or an apartment, the best place to start is usually Facebook. I had to resuscitate my decades-long dead Facebook account to find my footing in Malta, and it never stopped feeling dystopian.
I don’t disagree, but who needs an official controller from Apple when you can just use one from Sony, Microsoft, or some other company that actually specializes in gaming controller hardware? I don’t know if the engineers at Apple actually play enough games to know what people like in their controllers.
In light of Nexus Mods and Mod DB banning the No Pronouns mod for Starfield, I figured I would look around for alternative sources and collect them in one place for others' convenience. This seems like a good place to put them....
I mean, the absurdity of your argument that a sci-fi space rpg can’t meet your standards of “reality” because of a mere ignorable, pre-existing and commonly used pronoun aside, I’m going to have to step in on this particularly low-hanging morsel…
The rules of English grammar are objective.
If English grammatical rules were objective, we’d all still be talking the way people did way before Shakespeare. Actually, Shakespeare’s writings wouldn’t exist today if English grammar wasn’t at all subjective because he flat out made up a ton of words and phrases we still use today. Also, you’ve heard of poetry, right?
“It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” (Macbeth, Act 5, Scene 5)
Just off the top of my head: In some US dialects, rather than a single word changing between negative and positive form (e.g. “I didn’t take any pictures”), instead an entire sentence is shifted into a negative mode (“I didn’t take no pictures”). Traditional grammar rules would dictate that as a double negative, implying the speaker did in fact take pictures, but only an idiot would actually choose interpret it that way.
Next, we have the impact of the internet. “lol” might occasionally be spoken aloud in many circumstances as a substitute for “that’s funny” or something similar. Colloquial written English is all over the place. We now not only use “lol”, but “fwiw,” “afaik,” and many others.
Then there’s emoji. We’re basically using glyphs to express ideas, not unlike how kanji works, and traditional rules of grammar don’t always apply when you’re expressing an idea through pictures, though it’s interesting when it does. Animated GIFs and memes often butcher grammar rules without sacrificing any understanding of intent.
A simple google search turns up many more examples than I could possibly be aware of.
Now it’s your turn. Feel free to explain why you think using “they” as a singular pronoun applies as a grammar rule violation in the 21st century. If you can’t use more than a typical snarky one or two-liner, you should just consider this argument lost and rethink your life.
Met my wife through a dating app. I was just honest about who I was, what my own shortcomings were, and the kind of person that interests me. Was indifferent to short-term or long-term preferences. Only got a a very small number of hits, but they were much more on the mark as far as I was concerned than if I just went to a bar and tried to meet people. I didn’t try to push myself or anyone I met into anything heavier than food or a flick, and just let the friendship grow into whatever she was comfortable with. When I was bored, I’d ask her if she wanted to meet up for lunch or something. That was it.
I think it helped that, while lonely, I was perfectly fine being without a partner at that time. I felt happy with my life, and I didn’t want to give anything up to make someone else happy. You gotta love yourself first before loving anyone else, otherwise it just isn’t fair to anybody.
I’ve been on Lemmy since the Reddit stuff happened. I also started using PeerTube. Now I am trying to explore more of the Fediverse and wanted to know what Kbin brings to the table compared to Lemmy.
One fun thing about kbin is that websites that get posted frequently can be followed or blocked like their own magazine. This means if you’ve got a bunch of bot accounts posting links to the same dumb site, you can just go to the magazine of that site and just block that instead of playing whack-a-mole with bots.

I don’t know anything about One Piece other than the fact it’s really long and super popular.
I heard the Netflix show was pleasing fans so I threw it on when my wife was around and we both ended up getting into it. We haven’t finished the whole season yet, but we will.
It reminds me of watching power rangers back in the 90s as a kid. The dialog is really elementary and clearly targets kids, but the character acting is endearing, and it’s fun to look up the original illustrations because the casting and costumes are so spot on.
I’m particularly fond of how each episode goes through some kind of story and character development, but always climaxes on some big fight scene, just like in the old power rangers shows. It’s like soul food for me.
That seems like either I’m 100% satisfied with my iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I have reached my peak cell phone feature set, or the iPhone 15 just is not very enticing of a purchase, especially considering the considerable cost.
I really like that the pro models are allowing “special video” now. I’d want that, except by the time I can actually afford a “pro” iPhone, that feature might be built into the non-pro models.
Well meat farms produce a lot of methane, which is a potent greenhouse gas, so reducing any kind of demand from a ranch is probably better than nothing. That said, I thought the leather used for iPhones weren’t from animals we’d traditionally use for eating. Moleskin or something?

I know of someone who says they listen to Joe Rogan podcasts (political I assume) but I don’t know what this means or what the connotations are. Both this person and I live in east asia.
The dude is a bit of a meathead who will listen to anyone he has interest in for better or worse. I enjoyed his show for a while because I generally enjoy hearing people share their thoughts on things, even if sometimes they end up seeming a little off. As it so happens, I was just as willing to hear out criticisms against his show as well when I started noticing those. Then I just kind of lost interest. It can be a fun show to listen to, but it’s kind of like a dude-bro celebrity magazine-turned-podcast for people who fantasize about being rich and smarter than everyone else. I like to call him “Joe Brogan” now because I think it fits.

Sorry for the late reply. I got a new job and the work load is pretty overwhelming. It’s fun, but there is a lot of prep work and very little in terms of help or remuneration on that end.
