There’s only a few games I played before release, RimWorld and Stone Shard.

Currently I’m playing Beneath a Steel Sky from 1994, and Fallout 4 is next.

And I will celebrate with you each time you recover the Amulet of Yendor

I got a water proof one with a suction cup, put it on the wall and it just slid down to the floor. Ended up just placing it on the sink.

It’s okay when you listen to podcasts or audio books while showering.

I use linux for the same reason I wear fuzzy socks and sweaters

My understanding of the history of fashion is that back in the 1950s America it was expected that you wore a suit/dress at work unless you had a different uniform. There were a bunch of very boring people who thought that we should be wearing office job garb all the time, because they wore suits so much it was their default...

Don’t forget the turtle neck sweater.

Great, let the Streisand effect bite Google in the bum.

BeigeAgenda,

Most likely not, I expect it’s the same as what you can do in English, put the stress on different places in a sentence to give different meaning.

My friend has a Tesla and thinks otherwise about the software, he thinks Tesla users are helping beta test the software/car, and one of his complaints is that the new vision based auto wiper is crap, they should have stuck with a rain sensor which have been working fine for the last ~10 years.

Reminds me of LRR’s Panalysts - Becky with the big teeth: youtu.be/JtgxkT1si44

BeigeAgenda,
@BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca avatar

The Panalysts are worth the watch, the successor to Feed dump but as a panel show, and this time everything is made up so you don’t have to feel bad for Florida Man, and nobody smuggles anything in their pants.

After LRR started streaming, you have to choose your favorite shows because watching everything is a full time job.

Good job my young padawan, let me teach you about the modulo operator …

BeigeAgenda,
@BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca avatar

No its not the wrong solution! Premature optimization is a waste of time.

Using if or case are not a solution because they are way too verbose and very easy to introduce an error.

Modulo is a solution, and using bit-wise and is another faster solution.

BeigeAgenda,
@BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca avatar

I call it making assumptions that may be incorrect, and do you know if the compiler will do the optimization anyway in this case?

BeigeAgenda,
@BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca avatar

I give up, I was wrong to even think about the modulo operator, you are clearly the master programmer. 🥇

This reminds me of a discussion about the ternary operator ? :, some people think its the one true way of writing code because its just so clear what it does. And I say please use it sparingly because if you start doing nested ternary operators its very hard to unpack what your code does, and I prefer readability over compact code, especially with today’s compilers.

Yes Python is definitely a programming language, I write in C/C++/C#/Python/Bash each language has its areas where they are best.

I prefer Python for DevOps related code and writing smaller programs/tools. You just get so much handed to you with Python’s toolbox, it just makes things easier, you can use it as a scripting language or write a modular object oriented program.

I use C/C++ when performance matters and I want things to be Done right TM, and make sure to use all the help the compilers and static code checkers can give.

cpython yes, but not ironpython or jython :-)
