Anticorp,

In D&D and BG3 you can just kill them and take your money back, not without consequences though.

What art medium is this? The colors look deep, like stained glass, or shrinky-dinks.

Anticorp,

It is nothing like its former self. Rupert Murdock did to MySpace what Elongated has done to Twitter, but at a much faster pace. Imagine if Muskrat bought Twitter and then deleted the user databases the next day, that’s what happened with the $570M buyout of MySpace. It went from $570M to $30M in less than a year.

Anticorp,

Google doesn’t give a shit what their advertisers think. It’s not a “please buy our ads” situation, it’s a “where else would you advertise online, you stupid fuck?” type of situation.

Anticorp,

No, it couldn’t. People who didn’t use adblockers aren’t going to suddenly start using them just because YouTube started blocking adblockers. People who didn’t use adblockers aren’t impacted at all, nothing has changed for them.

Anticorp,

And will quietly release it when the backlash has diminished.

Anticorp,

Bye YouTube! It’s been real, and it’s been fun, but it hasn’t been real fun.

McDonald's prices are out of control. (cdn.masto.host)

Gee, it’s almost like corporations are gouging consumers so badly that their market advantages are being lost due to greed. Inflation this quickly isnt real. It’s what happens when you come off a global pandemic with millions dead and corporations see they can freely abuse you by exploiting the public zeitgeist that prices...

Anticorp,

They’ve been huffing their own farts. They’ve used ad placement about having legendary fries for so long that they actually believe it. Last time I had McDonald’s french fries about 5 years ago they tasted like shredded and compressed napkins, smothered with salt. No thanks, at any price.

Anticorp,

I believe they’re referring to Demolition Man.

Anticorp,

Huh, I guess Pulp Fiction was telling the truth about the Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

Anticorp,

We went to Subway a few weeks ago without paying attention to the prices and it was over $30 for two 6" sandwiches, chips, and drinks. What in the absolute fuck? Oh, and then of course the stupid credit card machine asks for a tip with 20% prefilled. A single 6" sub is $10 now. We won’t be going back.

Anticorp,

Oh they’ll be proceeding with it, just quietly at some undisclosed soon date in the future.

Anticorp,

Microsoft staff aren’t hurting for money. They get paid a lot, and they have amazing benefits including dozens of perks like this.

Anticorp,

Yeah, but they pay 200-400% what competitors pay. The drawback is that they work you like a dog.

Anticorp,

Yeah, that’s why people typically tap out after a few years. I know someone who worked for them for 3 years. Working for them accelerated his retirement plans by a decade since they pay so well, but after 3 years he was very unhappy and left.

Anticorp,

I’m talking about engineering positions, but the warehouse pays pretty well around here (Seattle) too.

Anticorp, (edited )

Nevermind that shit, Stremio + Torrentio + Real-Debrid. I’m fucking done with these greedy-ass companies. I was paying Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Apple, Paramount , MLB.tv and HBO, and pretty content to do so, and they all continually removed content and adjusted their pricing to reduce what I was getting for my money. They finally pushed me beyond my tolerance limit a few months ago and I’ve been back to sailing the high seas for the first time in 20 years.

I have more content now, all at acceptable quality options, all with good subtitles instead of the mess HBO was, and all on the same platform instead of having to jump between 7 different apps. I’m done with them and I’ll stay done with them until they pull their heads out of their asses.

Edit: if you get a cheap computer, a Chromecast, a FireTV, or what I have - an Nvidia Shield TV, then you get even get a nifty remote controller and a good standard browsing platform for everything.

Anticorp,

Dude… Malware comes hand-in-hand with pirating. You just have to exercise caution and you’ll probably be fine.

Anticorp,

They didn’t inform anyone. They laughed as they hung up. The only four words they understand are “I want to cancel”.

Anticorp,

No no, not fuck your loyalty. You will remain loyal, but fuck you.

Anticorp,

Netflix lost me when they stopped letting you share your login. The only reason we were still subscribed was because my son and my mom used our account. Neither of them will subscribe on their own, so they didn’t gain two new customers, they lost a customer of 15 years. I made sure to tell them exactly why I was cancelling and included the fact that they’re greedy and shortsighted. Actually everyone lost me when that happened. That was the straw that pushed my ship back out to sea.

Anticorp,

I haven’t heard of Trakt before, but that sounds neat. I only ever watch stuff on my TV from my couch, so I haven’t needed anything like that.

Anticorp,

And of course when you switch to that character everyone else jumps back over to where that character is, and then one of them stays behind after manually jumping the stuck character. It’s annoying that you have to ungroup them, jump, then regroup. As a result I try to jump as little as possible.

Anticorp,

The plural of sheep is sheep, not sheeps.

Anticorp,

I’m pretty sure those sensors use silver, which won’t capture the vampire’s image.

Anticorp,

Don’t the sensor connectors contain silver in the micro wires though?

Does vampire lore explicitly say that all materials were tested and only Silver has anti-vampire properties?

I don’t think so. I think it’s just old world mythology that silver is pure, and therefore the purity won’t reflect the evil of the vampire. But every element is pure, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Anticorp,

2nd thing mentioned ain’t bad.

Anticorp,

That’s not what I meant. The first thing mentioned when he died was Friends. This is the second thing I’ve seen mentioned, helping people. So although he didn’t get what he wanted, having the first thing mentioned be about helping people, having it be the second thing mentioned is pretty darned close to what he wanted.

Anticorp,

It’s great if the pak meets your needs. For Steam the pak didn’t meet my needs because it doesn’t allow you to add additional library locations. As long as it’s set up in a way that works for you then it’s a big time saver.

Anticorp,

Ah, I haven’t heard of flatseal before.

Anticorp,

It would be a shame for my anaconda if we ain’t got buns, hon.

I had no idea that you could download movies from the 90ies from archive.org (jeena.net)

I couldn’t find the Flintstones movie from 1994 anywhere but googling it I found it here archive.org/details/the-flintstones_202304 and you can either download it via torrent or directly. On top of it it says that the movie is CC0 which means Public Domain. But that can’t really be, it’s only 29 years old....

Anticorp,

Speaking of movies from the 90s, we just watched The Crow on Halloween (Devil’s) night, and that movie is definitely a John Wick prequel.

Anticorp,

I just mean that the style of the movie is heavily copied by John Wick.

Anticorp,

I was really worried that it wouldn’t hold up, but it does! It holds up well.

Anticorp,

That’s heckin cool. I’ll see if I can find that interview.

Anticorp,

Temba, his arms wide!

Anticorp,

Almost everything is an ad now. As long as people continue tolerating it, or it continues being profitable, it’ll keep getting worse.

Anticorp,

You have to use a different client. Sync and Apollo have that functionality.

Anticorp,

It’s a browser based app now. Those don’t require installation since they just run a website in the native browser container.

Anticorp,

Oh, add to home screen should open it as a full screen app when you use the icon it adds to your screen to open it. If it’s not doing that then there’s a bug somewhere. Maybe a toggle in Firefox to allow full screen?

Anticorp,

Depends on what the objective is. The US government has had back doors into webcams, microphones, and social profiles for around two decades now. Snowden exposed the extent of their snooping in the early aughts and it was quite shocking. I doubt they’ve been resting since then. The stuff that gets leaked is usually the stuff they’re fine with people knowing about it. The Snowden leak was unprecedented, and we usually don’t get that deep of a glimpse into the intelligence community. By now they likely have complete and total access to anything, a Sneakers Black Box, if you will. No private tool can accomplish that. Keep in mind I’m talking about the NSA, not the FBI or local law enforcement.

Anticorp,

You haven’t told us what kind of hair you have, so it’s impossible to recommend a cut. But given your ethnicity and age, I’m going to assume you have thick, dark, hair. If that’s the case then growing it out is the first step. If you want to be edgy then go for something spikey and layered. Billy Idol has always had badass hair his entire life. Even as an old dude he looks very fashionable. If you go for that type of cut then adding some highlights will give it a lot of depth. If you want something more professional and current then go with a side part with good texturing and length, here’s an example. That example haircut has just about everything a good haircut should have. It’s stylish, layered, well taken care of, and flexible.

Anticorp,

Can you use Goblin Engineering in PVP again? When I quit WoW they had completely removed engineering gizmos from battlegrounds and pvp zones.

Anticorp,

It was amazing for battlegrounds and world pvp until they nerfed the shit out of it, and then eventually removed it. I remember when cataclysm launched you could engineer bombs that hit for everyone’s entire hit point pool, and then stand above the graveyard at Warsong Gulch, wait for everyone to spawn, and insta-kill all of them. It was hilarious. Of course the bombs were stupid expensive to craft, so you’d only do it a couple of times for the lulz.
