As a company of 54 employees and zero external investors, it's always very exhilarating at Vivaldi.

But thanks to our talented crew, we're the only cross-platform available on computers, phones, tablets, and cars. 😎

Hi everyone, I'm a totally blind electronic Musician. I'm putting out the Call for who are conversant to come and work on a very special open source project with me. The project would be an open source groove box for everyone running on iOS but built with a focus on accessibility and voice over screen reader compatibility. If you can help reach out. reposts for this would be much appreciated thank you very much :-)

One day after launching Vivaldi on iOS, Vivaldi is the top iPad app in Norway and #5 on iPhones. Not a bad start at all. We are on the list in many other countries as well.

Make sure to share the great news with all your friends! @Vivaldi is now available!

Also ist echt toll :-) Es funktioniert bisher alles was ich brauche.

The new 40 update is huge. Nested/tags mean that Drafts can now be used as an organized app much like , in addition to all the things that make Drafts a genuinely unique app.

And hooray! There’s now a command palette, as there should be in every app now.

EDIT: Still no attachments/images, text notes only. I see it as another blade in the Drafts Swiss Army knife. It won’t always replace a specialized tool, but it’s still handy to have in your pocket.

An interesting new feature that I've only just noticed has been added to @MonaApp:

Adding an image from your Photos library to which you have already added a Caption (in Photos) automatically adds that caption as your image description/alt-text in Mona.

The video shows this in action (nb the centre bit where I locate the photo has been edited to remove personal content).

@main

A video showing a photo in the Photos app. I swipe up to reveal the caption I have already added to that image. I swipe to open Mona and find and add this image to my post. It has an icon on it showing that alt-text has already been added. Tapping the image and then the Edit description button shows that the caption from Photos has automatically been added to the image. I swipe back and forth to the Photos app to show that this is the same description.

Dear iPhone, I am honestly getting tired of your constant questioning of my notification settings. When I specify that I want time-sensitive notifications for an app, could you please stop pestering me about it? It's the same with GPS apps running in the background - I've got it under control. And when I grant permission for notifications, I don't need to confirm it four times. Just remember, I'm the one in charge here. When I want to open an app, just do it. And Siri's snarky replies about checking the website for Apple product info? Come on, your competitors handle this way better. Sincerely, your mildly frustrated customer.

Cette disposition améliore en facilitant l'utilisation à une seule main, il est ainsi très facile d'accéder à cette barre avec le pouce.

I don’t know what Lemmy is.

Lemmy is a Fediverse software for community-based discussion, something similar to reddit.

When you tag Lemmy communities via Mastodon, you submit your toot to respective community as a post. That’s why people are a bit confused here.

Also, first line on your post transforms to a title on lemmy, and it looks like this: “Sur #iOS, le navigateur #chrome de #google va maintenant permettre d’avoir la barre d’”. Lemmy doesn’t use formatting for titles.

Honestly, next blind convention season, I want to see Apple and Google accessibility engineers get on stage and do a battle of the screen readers. Note that this is not a truth claim and any of the text below could be false, change, not work, or not even exist.

Audience member: Show us how you check your email!

Apple: Okay, on the home screen, opens mail with Siri, open a message, read it with a swipe down with two fingers, and closes mail.

Google: Easy! Open Gmail with Google Assistant, opens a message, reads it with a double tap and hold with two fingers, and closes Gmail.

Audience member: Navigate a thread of emails!

Apple: On the home screen, Turns the rotor to Braille Screen input, types "mail" and swipes right with two fingers to open Mail. Then, finds a conversation, opens it and turns the rotor to "messages" and swipes down through the thread.

Google: From the home screen, swipes down with two fingers to show a search box, double taps to begin editing, uses TalkBack Braille keyboard to type and open Gmail with a two finger swipe up, opens a conversation, and double taps on a message header to collapse a message to show the next one. And the next one.

Audience: Show us how the new NLS EReader works on the phone.

Apple (probably after a few point updates to iOS 17): Puts EReader in Braille Display mode, chooses to add a device, goes to Settings > Bluetooth on iPhone and double taps the EReader's Bluetooth name. Then has to work around some new bug in Braille support.

Google: Puts the EReader in USB Braille Display mode, finds a USB C to USB C cable, plugs the 2 devices in, and things work. A bit sluggishly, but they work.

Audience: Show us how we can learn what's new in the screen reader.

Apple: Opens Safari and goes to apple.com/accessibility, and has VoiceOver read the whole page.

Google: Opens TalkBack settings, double taps on "new features in TalkBack," and lets it read actually useful info.
