Buckle in gilded silver depicting Odin sacrificing his eye for wisdom at Mimer's well. When the fastening needle is opened, Odin's face dips forward and the sacrifice is made. The buckle comes from a major sacrificial site in Sweden dated to 0–500 CE. Together with other discoveries at the site, this buckle demonstrates that the Viking Age as a time period has little bearing, that Scandinavians did practice human sacrifice, and that Norse mythology is very old. @histodons@histodon#history
Music is just becoming lazier. We got from needing 70 instruments and an incredible opera singer to 6 instruments and a talented jazz singer to 4 instruments and a good singer to 0 instruments a bad singer but a lot of vocoder. I didn’t said it was bad, just lazy.
Simply not true, in 2018 iirc there were about 1500 Palestinian deaths and 0 israeli deaths. Israelis are not the victims. They constantly bully Palestinians out of their homes under military protection. Currently the civilians of gaza are under siege and even if they wanted to leave they cannot, they have nowhere to go.

I have an HP printer now, Epson before that. Both are dogshit. When the HP eventually kills itself, as they tend to do, should I buy a Brother? I heard a lot of good stuff about it but have 0 experience with it.
For comparison, Russia is expected to have tripled their national military budget by 80 to €120 billion per year, or an increase of around 4% GDP. If the EU spends €60 billion /year on aid, that would mean around 0,4% of their GDP.
Heya folks, some people online told me I was doing partitions wrong, but I’ve been doing it this way for years. Since I’ve been doing it for years, I could be doing it in an outdated way, so I thought I should ask....
BTRFS has a concept called a subvolume. You are allowed to mount it just like any other device. This is an example /etc/fstab I’ve copied from somewhere some time ago.
/efi (or /boot, or /boot/efi, whatever floats your boat) still has to be a separate vfat partition, but all the other mounts are, technically speaking, the same partition mounted many times with a different subvolume set as the target.
Obviously, you don’t need to have all of them separated like this, but it allows you to fine tune the parts of system that do get snapshot.
Well technically, if you’re using BTRFS, you might want to check out subvolumes. Here’s my subvolume setup:
Subvolume 1, named @ (root subvol)
Subvolume 2, named @home (/home subvol)
Subvolume 3, named @srv (/srv subvol)
Subvolume 4, named @opt (/opt subvol)
Subvolume 5, named @swap (which is - you guessed it - the swap subvol)
You then set up fstab to reflect each of the subvolumes, using the subvol= option. Here’s the kicker: they are all in one partition. Yes, even the swap. Though caveat, swap still has to be a swapfile, but in its own separate subvolume. Don’t ask me why, it’s just the way to do it.
The great thing about subvolumes is that it doesn’t do any size provisioning, unless specified by the user. All subvolumes share the space available within the partition. This means you won’t have to do any soul searching when setting up the partitions regarding use of space.
This also means that if I want to nuke and pave, I only need run a BTRFS command on my @ subvolume (which contains /usr, /share, /bin), because it won’t be touching the contents of @home, @srv, or @opt. What’s extra cool here is that I’ll lose 0% FS metadata or permission setup, since you’re technically just disassociating some blocks from a subvolume. You’re not really “formatting”… which is neat as hell.
The only extra partitions I have is the EFI partition and an EXT4 partition for the /boot folder since I use LUKS2.
I personally recommend that people (men especially) stay away from them.
I always struggled with confidence and self-esteem, so for me dating apps were just making that worse. I spent months swiping and the breakdown for me was something like 200 swipes before I’d get a match, then out of those matches, at least half were spam bots or fake profiles, then out of the other half, probably only 1/5 would answer my messages. The ones that did answer either weren’t very engaged or just never responded at all often the initial interaction. All of this just contributed to lower self esteem and more bitterness and depression.
I found the women on these apps would put in 0 effort at conversation, and yet would say things like “We should get to know each other first” when I tried to set up a date.
Then the dates that I did get, I felt catfished but more likely it was my own wishful thinking and being willing to overlook obviously misleading photos. I had at least one date with a girl who matched her picture but then was a complete psycho.
I don’t really blame the women, it’s just market forces at work. These apps tend to have way more guys on them than girls, so the women are (generally) able to just sit back and the men are expected to wow them with fantastic opening messages or have the exact right physical characteristics. For this reason, Bumble was the only app I had success with and would have recommended.
For me, I had hoped dating apps would be a useful tool for meeting other singles in person to get to know them, but I ended up with the impression that many women were just using them to inflate their own self esteem, and loved to chat and get compliments but never actually wanted to date.
Anyways, it sounds cliche and I’m sure someone has said this to you, but you should work on building yourself. What worked for me was to find an activity that I could be secure and confident in and also meet women in that setting. I found two different long-term relationships through coed rec sports, and it’s not like I was some superstar at sports impressing the women or anything. Just go into it thinking about improving your own mental and physical health, work on getting better and meeting more people.
Both women I met through coed sports told me that I was much more appealing in person than my dating profiles, so maybe some profile improvements were warranted, but I concluded that it’s just not possible to get a good sense of someone you might want to date through pictures and a chat. Dating apps are only useful if they lead to meeting people in person, so if they aren’t enabling you to do that then you just have to get out there and meet people without them.
No they can’t. Single payer means that all the control is in the governments hands, because there are plenty of providers and only one payer for the entire 300+ million Americans. This is how single payer works. Medicare does this, for example.
In the current system there is 0 incentive to lower prices. The incentive becomes to charge as much as will be maximally paid.
Before you try to argue, the nhs, Canadian healthcare system, and pretty much every developed country that isn’t the US, would like to have a word.
