At first this article reads like your typical anti-piracy screed. It rants about how 10x more people watched GoT illegally (confusing them with lost sales) and ends with how downloading movies can get your credit card stolen....
That they yhrew away all the rules they established before like traveling now took 0 hours and soon. All of this because the last book wasn’t written yet so they had to write some story themselves and failed misserably.

Young up and coomers, first giants on YouTube. Sold their channel and brand for stock. Then were tied to the company for years who worked them like dogs. Until the company that bought them went bankrupt so their stock was nullified and they in the end sold their company for $0.
I literally have like 1TB of video stored on YouTube and privatized. Google is making $0 from my videos, but they still have to store them and have them available if I want to watch it (it’s all of my Twitch VODs). Meanwhile websites like Streamable perma-delete my 5MB video after it gets 0 views in 2 milliseconds.
true, love me both some cashew and beans too bad both are also horrible strains on the environment like 6k liter for 0,5kg cashews buth that is a whole other debate

IT TAKES 0 SECONDS TO HAVE ∞ HOURS OF PLAYBACK FOR MY HEADSET.
Talking seriously, I really hate that everything in this day and age has to come with a battery: it’s a useless waste of resources.
When you buy a good set of cabled earphones it will be good for life (I used my AudioTechnica M50 for more than 10 years and only had to change the cable once), wireless you’ll have to throw them away when the batteries will eventually die (in 3 years on average).
E-waste is a serious issue, if you want to go green, go cable <3

@Eggyhead before you comment to one of 20 or 30 different communities a url has been posted to, how do you review the community guidelines to make sure stay within them?
I see how this idea is appealing but I think at the end of the day everything would be a real mess. It would be impossible for communities to have any sense of themselves as randomers would constantly be parachuting in. Eventually they would ban posting link that are already posted to communities where annoying people hang out. What you are suggesting is integrating brigading into the platform so it would be done unintentionally all the time.
The way to consolidate posts, for those who wish it, would be to display the post on feed once. Below it, list details for various communities which the user is already subscribed to:
Yeah - though I had thought that still the one should be higher than the other, even if the numbers are small. In the actual equation, this would be multiplied by a scaling factor of 10000, though. (See the code discussion in the other comments). Though, in this case, the rank would still be very close to zero.
What I had missed is that, in the actual code, the equation is wrapped in floor() and returns an integer. So both are treated as rank = 0 and maybe randomly sorted.
The question is why are rank 0 posts showing up at all? In my other comment, if you do the math, I think that it should take quite a bit of time for any post with an appreciable score to decay to a rank of zero. Yet we see that these sorts of old posts are appearing relatively high in the hot feed.
One possible answer was suggested in another comment – it may have to do with how often the scores are recalculated for older posts, and if some have not decayed to zero by the time that the score recalculation stops, they might persist with a non zero score until the instance is restarted. I’m still not sure that that is the right answer, however, because I am guessing that instances like lemmy.world (which I am using) have been restarted recently with the various hacking attempts?
It seems to me the steam deck already meets this regulation, or would with very minimal change. It does not say you need to have an access door like gamboys had. It just says the battery needs to be easily replaceable with commonly available tools (or included tools). To replace the steam decks battery you just need a size 0 Phillips screwdriver and something to pop it open like a guitar pick or a credit card. You would easily be able to get all the tools you need at any hardware store.
Weiterschleppen gescheut?
