paddirn,

Yeah, you just need to be born with the right genetics, be charismatic, and have media empires pushing you as a heartthrob in tv/movies/social media, and you too can be desired by women. Totally not out of the realm of possibility for most men. This just takes the idea that men have to be muscle-bound hunks to “get women” and puts it further outside the realm of possibility by replacing it with “Hollywood” hearththrobs. At least being a musclebound hunk is semi-possible if I dedicated my life to working out and bulking up 8+ hours a day. I doubt there’s anything I can do to achieve Pedro Pascal’s level of fame in my lifetime.

TimewornTraveler,

Can someone identity everyone in this pic? I only recognize two people.

overcast5348,
  • Elf: Legolas
  • Dad: Pedro Pascal
  • Elf Dad: Henry Cavill
  • Elf cook: Eddie from Stranger Things

No idea about the others.

CaptnNMorgan,

Jack Black and Markiplier

KnowledgeableNip,

Left to right moving down:

Carmy, main character from The Bear.

Eddie, Side character from Stranger Things Season 3.

Legolas from Lord of the Rings.

Jack Black from the School of Rock.

Markiplier, YouTube personality.

Geralt from The Witcher.

Joel from The Last Of Us.

TimewornTraveler,

oh wow! a lot of modern nerd culture. thanks.

never heard of markplier or the bear, never watched witcher stranger things or tlou

Cannacheques,

What a man wants, can women just chill and let a man be happy?

aberrate_junior_beatnik,

Yes, famously men have had very few demands of women throughout history.

Cethin,

I don’t disagree, but also it isn’t relevant. Either it’s wrong or it’s not, regardless of gender. People should be happy first.

PhlubbaDubba,

Fact that the Line Cook example isn’t Pere Davidson is a crime and severe inaccuracy, that man looks like he’s still waiting for puberty and can Line Cook Energy his way into dating basically any chick he puts the moves on.

That or he just does literally any amount of oral since that’s apparently a complete rarity woth famous dudes.

Dumbkid,
@Dumbkid@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I get it I was wrong, I have to be a muscle hunk OR Jack Black to be attractive

JudahBenHur,

yep. the only person here who isn’t in personal-trainer levels of physical shape is jack black. I’ve just been re-watching the bear and apparently they skip the scenes where carmi is spending 3 hours a day in the gym

DizzoMyNizzo,

The people only focusing on muscle hunks and ignoring Jack Black and Markiplier. I think I owe @gmtom an apology…

Microplasticbrain,

Super braindead take, men exercise for their own health and confidence. In the same way that women wear makeup, it may help attracting the opposite sex but we do it for ourselves. Also exercise is one of the most direct mechanisms for self improvement regardless of gender.

gmtom,

Take memes seriously, get into arguments with strangers.

Microplasticbrain,

You’re right lemmy is no place for discussion Ill just block you so we don’t argue anymore, have a good one.

gmtom,

Living up to your username

TexMexBazooka,

This was a funny exchange

DizzoMyNizzo,

You’re right. I don’t even want to argue about the Kek of markiplier in the center.

SkyeStarfall,

Uh, I have definitively heard a lot of men say their primary motivation to “getting buff” is to pick up women.

orrk,

and I have definitely heard women repeat some common gender stereotype as well

Microplasticbrain,

Yea I think a lot of men initially get into exercise to attract women but the ones that really stick with it end up doing it for themselves after they realize how much better they feel, both physically and mentally. Of course there will always be people who do things for different reasons but in general this has been my experience.

Chriswild,

It can be for women but attract women for unintended reasons. Confidence is attractive and if they get confidence through gaining muscle it still works.

SCB,

I’m 39. These days I explicitly work out to be in good shape for sex. I want to look good when I pop the top, and attracting partners is a core goal of mine.

I’ve never in my life been hurting for confidence, and was confident when I was 40 lbs heavier - I just looked worse with my shirt off.

If you’re chasing low-commitment sex, at some point your physical attractiveness does indeed matter.

Microplasticbrain,

That’s fair but from the people I speak to, who exercise consistently, they do it for themselves primarily. I don’t know many people who exercise exclusively to attract women and not also enjoy being in shape just for themselves whether its to feel good, or be more confident.

Personally I do cardio, not because of attracting someone but because I literally feel so much better on a daily basis when I do. My sleep is better, I have more energry, etc.

veroxii,

Jack Black catching some stay bullets here.

Habahnow,

IDK, i feel they’re also missing the point that a lot of these guys are attractive as well and have the personalities for their characters written for them by various people (others have already mentioned that these men are generally all physically healthy, so I won’t expand on that). If I could have an attractive face, and have my personality written by a couple of writers AND have girls read or watch that play out, I bet I or anybody in that scenario would get a bunch of girls. Ultimately, I also feel men working out is one of the simpler ways to appear more attractive, next to dressing well. Being funny or in general, having a very attractive personality is harder to develop when you compare it to working out and dressing well. Of course, dressing well and having a healthy body doesn’t mean you will be attractive to all women, but it betters your chances.

DizzoMyNizzo,

I think @gmtom meant to post his comment here.

Azzu, (edited )

They’re not “muscle hunks”, but half of the people in this picture are definitely much above average in muscle mass.

There are no opinions/personal experience necessary here. Research has quite clearly shown that a decent amount of muscle, more than average, but not by a lot, not an outrageous “muscle hunk” amount, is the most attractive sexually.

Of course this doesn’t hold true for all women, tastes differ. And as well, muscle is not the most important thing in male attractiveness. Male attractiveness is a mix of very many things.

surewhynotlem,

Research also shows that being above average attractive physically isn’t a thing most people don’t require.

Make her laugh. Be kind. Get laid.

Azzu,

And as well, muscle is not the most important thing in male attractiveness. Male attractiveness is a mix of very many things.

Did you miss that?

surewhynotlem,

Nope. It’s called “agreeing”. Not everything on the Internet is an argument.

Enk1,

Using “also” in your statement makes it an addendum, not agreement. Your phrasing implies the original comment was incomplete, which is not typically how you would phrase it if you were agreeing with a statement the commenter made. Your comment came off more like “or you could just do this!”

casmael,

Pardon?

Anticorp,

Pedro is also masculine as fuck.

Donkter,

Yeah most of those guys are fit as fuck (except jack black, sorry buddy). This post is talking about people trying to get like Arnold Schwarzenegger but to get a body like any of these guys requires serious gym time.

DizzoMyNizzo,

I think @mgtom might have meant to post his comment here as well…

People who take fitness serious are literally cooks. The only way to make sure you know what you’re eating is by cooking it yourself.

lingh0e,

You don’t know many actual working cooks, do you?

casmael,

THIS CHICKEN IS……. FUCKING……… RAAAAAAWWWWWWW

cows_are_underrated,
@cows_are_underrated@feddit.de avatar

Oh no! It’s black.

casmael,

BLACK? BLACK? ITS FUCKING PINK ALL THE WAY THROUGH YOU FUCKING DONKEY 🐓

Lemminary,

I… need to call more people donkey cocks in my life.

NounsAndWords,

I mean…if you consider baking a plain chicken breast and mixing a protein shake to be cooking, then I agree.

cows_are_underrated,
@cows_are_underrated@feddit.de avatar

This is some sort of cooking. But we eat more than just chicken breast and protein shakes. You also need Tuna and some vegetables(or if your name is Sam Dulek than you can eat literally everything).

ICastFist,
@ICastFist@programming.dev avatar

Or, if you’re The Rock, you eat 1kg of cod every fucking day

Anticorp,

TIL throwing Mrs. Dash on a chicken breast and putting it on my George Foreman Grill makes me a cook!

feedum_sneedson,

I did have to become a “muscle hunk”, actually.

Cylusthevirus,

Okay but Henry Cavill is simply unfair to the rest of humanity.

The other main two aren’t exactly out of shape either.

Pedro Pascal

Orlando Bloom

hollywoodlife.com/…/orlando-bloom-shirtless-backg…

casmael,

Wow I remember bloom being like 20 something or whatever. Tempus fugit.

lingh0e,

He’s literally training to play a professional wrestler in this picture. Starring alongside Zach Efron, who got even more swole.

De_Narm,

I haven’t even seen people succed at getting hunks with that kind of motivation. If you don’t do it for yourself, you set youself up for failure.
