… Big cap…? What? I was going to guess that it was something spelled wrong or autocorrect got you but there’s literally a baseball cap next to it so it’s intentional.
Since it wasn’t expected to be seen is that just the default blank expression for the face mesh or whatever? I’ve been playing the game but ended up killing him at the very first conversation so…
Well, given that’s literally not what happened, I’m not sure why that’s more likely. The actual scene itself shows that Astarion is smiling in your face and doesn’t show any remorse or guilt or any other feelings. He only displays those when his face is hidden from the player/cameras typical view. You don’t pretend to look remorseful when no one can see you. There’s no point to it.
It’s the same reason people get excited over movies, or sports. It’s just a game, but it’s exciting and people can’t help getting attached to the characters and players.
Back in high school I invented a runic language like this and I used it to cheat in German class. I was always drawing fantasy/scifi scenes on my notebooks and I would write all the German verb declensions into the scenes, like on Thor’s chest or the side of a spaceship or whatever, and then have the notebook on the floor while taking the test. Straight As in German and now I can’t fucking speak German.
At some point I switched my games from German to English, my English skills probably improved more in the first two months of doing that than in the 4 years of classroom English I had before then.
I’ve heard similar from the people who took French or Spanish as ellectives, it seems schools are the worst place to actually learn a language (I’d say including your native one, I learned more about German in Philosophy class than in German class)
Idk what triggers it, maybe getting to the grove. I went a different way by jumping over some fire, so I had already done the fight at the grove, and made it to the goblin camp with just Shadowheart. But every fight was so hard that I took to the internet and discovered I was supposed to meet her and Astarion. I went back and Astarion was there, but she was gone. Now I finally met Karlach and Wyll too, but defeated the entire goblin camp first, and failed the fight at Grimforge before finding them. I’ve made it all the way to level 6 without a tank.
I mean it’s not as if the game has an aggro mechanic - right now at the beginning of act 3 my bard is the character with the highest AC in my party (Karlach, Shadowheart and Astarion) - I feel as if debuffing or just sniping away enemies is much more important than high health and heavy armor
It’s good to know that there’s no aggro mechanism, but the enemies do tend to attack whoever is closest to them, except for rangers and wizards, who seem to always target my wizard. I used Shadowheart as my pseudo tank until I found Karlach, and now I try to get her to absorb as much of the damage as possible, since Shadowheart has a helmet that heals her when she heals someone else. Her heals aren’t very strong, but they definitely determine the outcome of some fights. What I’ve missed most is the charge that Githyanki girl had, and someone to wear heavy armor. I didn’t craft the splint mail at the forge since I have no idea if I’ll ever have someone to wear it. Instead I crafted the medium armor and gave it to Karlach, and the shield for Shadowheart. But as soon as I got to act two I found a vendor shield that was just as good, or possibly better. Oh well! It’s still an amazing game.
