It looks like it goes away (I went into the settings for one contact, where there's a toggle to switch back to SMS/MMS).
Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to change it back to RCS for that conversation now.
Also, on a more personal note: the baby blue background is ugly AF. Like actually just heinous. I'd rather it wasn't there, you get a perfectly good indicator RIGHT ABOVE THE TEXT INPUT FIELD what it's about to send.
@utzer It currently does, afaik. That's why I turned this off long ago, even though I found the feature quite useful. I might use it again in the future though if there will be credible signs this will no longer be the case.
For now, there are plenty of self-tracking apps if you're into this. I personally use Transistor when I am going on hikes or various trips. It's great if you want to have a journal of places with gpx tracks.
Its been what, 5 days since the december Pixel update and I still haven’t got it, i’ve checked for updates like daily since and so far nothing. Anyone else have this issue? I have a Pixel 7.
I already have a Pixel Watch that I actually like quite a lot and enjoy the information summaries available via Fitbit. I guess what I’m asking for are open source alternatives to Fitbit that can collate the data and present it back to me in a beautiful fashion rather than new hardware?
My watch is very much an extension of my phone experience rather than an individual thing like fitness or sleep tracking. Being able to read notifications, answer phone calls and control my music are imperative to my user experience and the sleep and fitness tracking for me are just bonuses.
That’s always been my argument. Updates for the OS or even apps in Google Play should be presented immediately if the user is doing a manual check for updates. Sure, continue the staged rollouts, but only for those who are updating automatically.
The check for updates button has been working fine for a few years now but as of this month my Pixel 8 is still on the November patch. My wife’s Pixel 6 is on the December patch after I did a manual check on her phone. Frustrating.
I’m so glad I read this because I was going crazy wondering why my Pixel 7a wasn’t getting the update despite constantly checking manually. Guess I’ll just keep waiting.
The situation has been getting MUCH better. The thing a lot of these articles overlook is just the strange structural difference between Android and iOS. We still seem to be primed to look for the big OTA, that’s “THE Update”, but increasingly more of the bug fixes, security patching, and feature refinement are being delivered by individual app updates and Google Play system updates. I’m OK if the OTAs are a bit more sporadic if I see work from the manufacturer and from Google to push better code throughout the year. I’d rather not wait for a big OTA, when a small component needs to be updated. The situation for Android updates has gotten a LOT better.
Honestly, I don’t care about design changes in android anymore because whether good or bad they’re just going to change it for change’s sake in no time anyways
