Its been what, 5 days since the december Pixel update and I still haven’t got it, i’ve checked for updates like daily since and so far nothing. Anyone else have this issue? I have a Pixel 7.
That’s always been my argument. Updates for the OS or even apps in Google Play should be presented immediately if the user is doing a manual check for updates. Sure, continue the staged rollouts, but only for those who are updating automatically.
The check for updates button has been working fine for a few years now but as of this month my Pixel 8 is still on the November patch. My wife’s Pixel 6 is on the December patch after I did a manual check on her phone. Frustrating.
I’m so glad I read this because I was going crazy wondering why my Pixel 7a wasn’t getting the update despite constantly checking manually. Guess I’ll just keep waiting.
The situation has been getting MUCH better. The thing a lot of these articles overlook is just the strange structural difference between Android and iOS. We still seem to be primed to look for the big OTA, that’s “THE Update”, but increasingly more of the bug fixes, security patching, and feature refinement are being delivered by individual app updates and Google Play system updates. I’m OK if the OTAs are a bit more sporadic if I see work from the manufacturer and from Google to push better code throughout the year. I’d rather not wait for a big OTA, when a small component needs to be updated. The situation for Android updates has gotten a LOT better.
