Not really a Buddhist but one of the old ways in Lakota spiritualism had a saying that even the grasshopper has a lesson to teach you.

One story goes that when Crazy Horse was young, he was a very good bowman. He was the best in all regards, seriously dude was probably one of the greatest to ever live. His mentors challenged him to shoot a grasshopper out of the air. To master that he had to change his style and approach. He was known to use it as a way to talk about impossible problems.

I think what it really means is, if you are able to master focusing on something, like Buddhist Monks are known to do, grasping all that is happening around you while you focus, you will never need to escapism as there is always something within reach that you will never fully understand.

But I also bet that given the chance, they will indulge in fantasy because we all have an imagination

I looked at Reddit for the first time in a long while yesterday. I had trimmed my subscribed subs to just essential, this is the only place on the web with this community like things.

So I look at my front page and I am still subscribed to more then 20 subreddits. But what is my #3 link but a 0 score off topic post. WTF reddit? Why is that even being promoted by your algorithm? I laughed at it and showed my wife and then closed the site without even looking at anything else.

Once I had a customer report that her computer was giving her out of disk space errors. This was weird because we script their My Documents and Desktop to network file shares. Like wtf could be using up the disk? While walking to their system I figured the drive was going bad. Nope.

When I was in the Navy, during the mid 90’s, I watched these things take off and do training tests or whatever they did. We watched them for hours. It occurred to me, watching them in perfect daylight and with a understanding of what I was watching, that if I didn’t know what that was it could have easily been a UFO. And ever since then when someone tells me that they might have seen a UFO I tell them about watching that airplane and how UFO it looked taking off and doing maneuvers. Its shape and speed make it such a bizarre thing to see.

Something that will always be my first thoughts when I think of Seattle cops…

Walking down 4th ave and a guy on the corner offers to sell me drugs (I got crack, coke, and smack?) I walked across the intersection and at the next block is a cop in a car waiting for the light to turn. I point at the dealer and tell the cop that guy just offered to sell me cocaine and heroin.

His reply was that I should call 911

Then another memory I have is walking near Pike Place and two beat cops are walking towards me. I say hell to them and they give me dirty looks. Don’t say anything to me and look me up and down and then move on.

I lived a block away form this when it happened. I was moments away from it and remember the yelling and didn’t know what happened until the next day. It really frightened me how it all panned out. Like yeah, NOBODY IS SAFE FROM THESE ASSHOLES

This is fact. And to add to this, its actually better and you will be seen quicker if you drive/have someone drive you to the hospital if you are gunshot or have a major stab wound. The chances of survival are much better then waiting for an ambulance. And if you are in that situation, speed as fast as you safely can. IF you get pulled over make sure the cop knows the situation so they can escort you to the hospital.

JFC these are horror stories for sure. The Russian government can get fucked and I wish them all the worst. But many of the victims in these stories didn’t deserve the nightmare they have. The two kids who watched their father stab and kill their mother and then they were rejected by their extended family. Fuckin hell.

Years ago I noticed a picture my niece had liked that was a couple of her friends jumping on their bed in only underwear. The girls were probably 11 or 12 so I reported it as inappropriate. A few days later Facebook replied to my request that the pictures were not against the TOS. I couldn’t fuckin believe that.
