thepianistfroggollum,

That was a fun class. One of the last ones I took before recursion made me change majors.

thepianistfroggollum,

My brain just can’t write recursive code. I can read it, but not write it.

thepianistfroggollum,

They sell usb adapters that only have the data pins for this very reason. This is what I bought

thepianistfroggollum,

When my wife asks me to grab her something, she always says, “You don’t have to do it right now.”

Yes I do, or it’s never getting done

thepianistfroggollum,

Just do one thing at a time. You’re not cleaning a room, you’re putting this one object where it belongs.

Many tiny tasks are less daunting than one large task, and our brains like completing many small tasks.

thepianistfroggollum,

No, because you have to remember to run and unload it. Then the dishes pile up while you wait to unload it.

thepianistfroggollum,

LPT, don’t run your clothes through a full cycle to dewrinkle.

Throw in a wet rag and put it on low for ~30m. This will also soften hang dried clothes and remove pet hair.

thepianistfroggollum,

That’s what medication is ultimately for. To help you learn those habits.

thepianistfroggollum,

I’m not sure where you got the idea that approaching things from a different viewpoint isn’t an effective coping mechanism for ADHD, but you’re mistaken.

thepianistfroggollum,

It does address it because it approaches chores in a different way. Instead of a few BIG chores, you now have many small ones that can be done mostly at any time. That way you can go and do multiple different chores and it doesn’t matter if you bounce around from room to room as long as forward progress is being made.

As an added bonus, you get a little bit of a dopamine hit when you complete the tasks.

thepianistfroggollum,

There seems to be a sharp dichotomy between those with big and small kitchens here.

thepianistfroggollum,

I once waited on hold for Microsoft support for 6.5 hours.

Fun fact: After hour 3 they stop playing music.

thepianistfroggollum,

Also try screaming obscenities at it. Some voice controlled IVRs are programmed to route angry customers through faster.

thepianistfroggollum,

Huh? You don’t pay for toll free calls. They were the ones who paid for it.

thepianistfroggollum,

I say that about Texas all the time.

thepianistfroggollum,

That begs the question of whether the terminal velocity of a phone is enough to eject the battery.

Unless the height you’re dropping it from is on Jupiter

thepianistfroggollum,

Iirc there’s video footage out there of it, but it’s pretty disturbing.

thepianistfroggollum,

We’ve been on that path for a bit now.

Although bloodletting is still an actual treatment for stuff, but now it’s called therapeutic phlebotomy. (source, I have to do it for high blood count)

thepianistfroggollum,

It’s not extremely early. Rabies can stay dormant for a very long time, but you can still treat it if you’re not showing symptoms.

thepianistfroggollum,

That’s 100% not a tear down reno. It just needs new flooring and some paint. Probably $5k tops.

thepianistfroggollum,

Dietpi, which has already been recommended, has a web dashboard you can use to control a bunch of stuff so you don’t have to have a gui

18+ let's talk about sex, please (nsfw?)

Hey y’all. so today i finally got my vyvanse/elvanse and i’m gonna start tomorrow. I specifically asked my doctor about sexual side effects and she said that it’s well known to be relatively harmless in that regard. now I read the side effects and it says that erectile dysfunction and change of sex drive are “common: 1...

thepianistfroggollum,

Vyvanse does cause sexual dysfunction with me, but only during the day when I likely won’t be having sex anyways. In my experience, and from what I’ve heard from others is that once you’re able to get hard, things go smoothly from there.

One trick I’ve found to counteract medication induced ED is Trazodone. I take it for insomnia, but it also makes me pretty much stay at half mast and get rock hard erections very easily no matter what medication I’m taking (besides Strattera, fuck Strattera) . When I know my wife is likely in the mood I’ll take it a bit earlier to make sure I don’t have any issues.

Also, kegels aren’t just for women. They help improve blood flow that can help treat ED, help reduce your risk of prostate cancer, and potentially even make your dick bigger.

thepianistfroggollum,

Amphetamines have been shown to suppress testosterone production, so it’s likely affecting your sex drive directly.

thepianistfroggollum,

I’m not sure if they edited their comment or you responded to the wrong one, but their response seems pretty chill.

thepianistfroggollum,

Trazodone isn’t an ssri, and the doses that are used for off label are way lower than what is prescribed for depression, and medication induced ED is one of those off label uses.

I’m taking vyvanse and wellbutrin as well with no issues from the trazodone.

thepianistfroggollum,

Yeah, I’m at 28T and I’m eying some 18T drives for an expansion unit.

thepianistfroggollum,

Jellyfin and plex are basically just GUIs to make playing videos from your NAS feel like you’re using a streaming service. They do a bunch more stuff, but in general that’s what they’re for.

Like, you don’t need a GUI for Linux, but it can certainly make the experience better.

thepianistfroggollum,

My favorite are the developers who are developing AI to do development.

thepianistfroggollum,

That’s not a bad thing. Humans really aren’t good decision makers. Having a system with an incredible amount of input data will be able to draw better conclusions than a person.

Just look at cars.

thepianistfroggollum,

You dont see how developers developing AI to do development might be a bad thing?

thepianistfroggollum,

Self driving cars are already better than humans. The Waymo cars have a crash rate of 0.59/million miles driven. The national average is 2.98.

I’m betting that most of the self driving car crashes were caused by humans, too.

thepianistfroggollum,

Why are you assuming there will be bias in the data, and that the AI couldn’t be made to correct for it? Most of the data for systems like medical AI are basically raw data, and it’s already better than humans at making an accurate diagnoses.

I’m not sure why people seem to think humans are better than a system that can parse trillions of data points in a few seconds and apply a bunch of statistical models to it almost instantly.

I'm sorry if this isn't allowed, I know this is a picture place primarily but, I have a question

So, last night, my neutered, 5 year old boy cat just started howling and acting weird. I have 0 idea why. Other than, maybe he saw/smelled another cat last night that set him off? Idk. Has anyone else had this kind of a problem? Should I take him to a vet? He doesn’t seem to have a problem with me touching him anywhere but...

thepianistfroggollum,

What kind of area do you live in? Is it possible there could be a predator in the area?

thepianistfroggollum,

There is absolutely not enough information to draw that conclusion.

thepianistfroggollum,

If only my wife would understand this.

There is never, ever, a time when seeing her naked wouldn’t make my day better.

thepianistfroggollum,

Why use many word, when few word do trick.

thepianistfroggollum,

I totally get it. My wife had bdd as well, so it’s taken some time, but it’s getting better.

thepianistfroggollum,

That’s modern fashion in a nutshell. They thrive by making women feel insecure about bullshit no real person cares about.

Like, fucking Dove had an ad campaign that promised to make your arm pits more attractive.

thepianistfroggollum,

And that’s the thing; you don’t have to get it, just accept it.

Testosterone is a hell of a drug, and unless you’re doing TRT, it’s super hard to understand the effects

Same goes for sex drive. My wife hasn’t internalized the fact that I would be happy to have sex at literally any time that wouldn’t get us arrested. Like, we’ve done it while I have a full blown migraine, and I initiated. But, I’m just being nice when I say it.

It’s hard to understand stuff like that when it’s not something you experience.

thepianistfroggollum,

Like a kid on Christmas

thepianistfroggollum,

That would be #1 on my wife’s list if I let her control the music (she never let’s a song play for more than 30s)

thepianistfroggollum,

You can’t honestly believe that Microsoft won’t be harvesting as much data as possible with their AI search.

thepianistfroggollum,

Those companies likely pay for the enterprise version which doesn’t have all that garbage. I guarantee you that Windows for home users is mining as much data as possible.

thepianistfroggollum,

Pfft, I’m having to talk myself out of a 5th and 6th monitor.

thepianistfroggollum,

The problem with your scenario is that you’re assuming an increase in payroll expenses will have enough of an affect on the company’s profit margin for them to go negative.

This is almost never the case, and if your business can’t survive without paying slave wages, then your business doesn’t deserve to survive.

The truth is that companies don’t want to raise wages because they’re on a quest to hoard as much wealth as possible. Just look. The country is in a recession and corpos are reporting record profits.
