Actually had a conversation the other day on Lemmy with another user where we disagreed on a topic.

We did not attack each other or were agressive. So I’ll take that as a win

This is definitely what I’d want if I search for this

My 2002 Chrysler Neon was pretty special to me. I was driving it until 2 years ago where it really started getting bad.

I inherited from my grandfather when he could no longer safely drive. And I just associate the car so closely with him.

He passed away a couple of years ago. So it was even more special to me because of that.

Also this doesn’t have to be drug related. Making the effort to observe your thoughts is a cool therapy technique

I do secret Santa with my family so I only have to get my cousin a gift. He built a race car in the past year so I had a guy on fiverr make artwork of it and then had it printed and framed

Even if you know windows and all those settings, windows pushed updates that add popups and bloatware.

So you don’t have a choice even if you do disable it uninstall things

That’s one thing I hate on windows. Don’t switch focus for me. Or let me startup apps minimized or something. I don’t want to be typing away in something, then mid sentence it’s switched to another app that takes a little while launcher to launch

Perez was soooooo surprised

True. It was difficult to tell where they were are on the track at any given moment. Nothing particularly distinct at any corner except the strip in the background

Torx screws and threaded inserts is not really that much effort engineering side.

It has more significant impact on the cost. Millions of torx screws and threaded inserts cost more than self tapping Phillips into plastic.

They are both scourges without each other

Definitely drains my battery less if I don’t have to speak to a cashier

You’re not wrong

Any apps that use local files!

I use it with Logseq for my notes, I sync the camera for my photos, and with Keepass for my passwords

Edit: I guess Vinyl Record Player for my music as well, librera reader for my ebooks, and I’m trying AudioAnchor for my audio books (but I’m not really happy with this one and I’m going to try to find a different app)

I do not browse Reddit casually anymore. Google takes me there occasionally because there is still useful specific information there.

But otherwise I’m all onboard with Lemmy now.

I don’t know if that is better or worse

The world keeps spinning either way

I think often needs to be bolded there.

I agree with him, but I don’t think I was toxic about it or even really intended to be toxic.

Do you pirate? And do you justify pirating? i.e., what is your piracy philosophy?

Well, my friend, he’s kinda poor he can’t afford some books and some streaming services, so he pirates. He pirate books, audiobook and videos and other stuff. Sometimes he buys books he likes a lot out of loyalty to the author (yeah, I don’t understand it either), he likes to read physical books, but yeah, if he hates the...

I just want a service that’s better than Netflix/Amazon/Disney/Spotify can offer. I want all my media in one place. I want access to it even if the internet is down. Segmentation of media across all the platforms is bullshit and it drives me wild. I’m getting less than what I paid for when Netflix was the only game in town. It’s worse and less than what it used to, so why bother paying them.

I pirate everything I consume.

I do believe artists should be paid for what they create, so I still purchase music even if I’ve already pirated it. The artists get more money from me than they would have if I just streamed on Spotify. I think it’s a win-win for me and the artists.

Does "Selfhosted" mean you actually have a server at home?

I’m trying to better understand hosting a Lemmy Instance. Lurking discussions it seems like some people are hosting from the Cloud or VPS. My understanding is that it’s better to futureproof by running your own home server so that you have the data and the top most control of hardware, software etc. My understanding is that...

For me it does. I’m sure some other people use a VPS or something and self host using a cloud provider of some kind.

You are not in a normal situation so how can it be normal? Normal activity if you’re awake. And you’re awake.
