It’s so good! The story is just, ugh, so good it’ll stick with me forever.

sadbehr,

Yep came here to say this. Unbelievably good. So good.

This is a professional Counter Strike player called Device.

These guys started out at small lans with CRT monitors where table space was an issue, so the players started doing stuff like this:

I’ve driven past Zebras and Giraffes (and more) in Africa and it’s absolutely beautiful watching those creatures chilling just doing what they do.

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

That’s really interesting. Does anyone know why?

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

And Goddess! (not a God.)

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

Also an awesome post metal band Isis. I have a t-shirt of theirs with the lyrics to a song called ‘Dying Light’ which is about death, the afterlife and reincarnation sorta stuff, needless to say I haven’t been able to wear it in many years.

Path of Exile on PS5 (I don’t have access to PC/xbox).

According to the trophies, only 8.8% of players complete Part 1, with 4.4% completing Part 2. For context, Part 1 would take a new player maybe 20 hours, with Part 2 being a tiny bit shorter. Imo the most likely reason for this is new players bricking their characters. PoE is extremely complicated and if you don’t know what you’re doing you’ll build and gear your toon so wrong that you’ll get to a point where you can’t progress and you don’t have any way of fixing it.

2.3% of players reach level 80, with 0.9% reaching level 90. Context: After completing the campaign you’ll be around level 70, getting to 80 isn’t difficult, long or hard. Level 90 requires a slight investment of time and effort.

If you’ve never played PoE before these stats might seem low, but for people that have played it I’m sure it makes a lot of sense! It does to me anyway.

Deep Rock Galactic? It has the mining component…that’s about it though. It’s co-op mining along with first person shooting combat.

I know it’s not exactly what you asked for but I thought I’d throw it out there.

After looking at the picture of the bridge in the article, it looks like it should have either been fixed or blocked by a large only moveable by heavy machinery barrier of some description.

What if someone was using a 15 year old paper map? Would they get to sue the cartographer?
What if the bridge had collapsed yesterday? Last week? As much as I don’t like Google, I don’t think they’re at fault here.

Hell yea the poop knife. His family had one because their shits would block toilets. He thought it was a normal thing to require and have a poop knife but after going to a friend’s house and asking for it, he discovered that it was indeed (Samuel L. Jackson voice) not a normal thing to possess.

sadbehr,

Why not add a basic intelligence test too? Imo asking for someone that’s cognitively coherent and isn’t a complete moron isn’t asking much for a leader of a country.

The question is, which one would Trump fail first?

Something to keep in mind is that a new season of D3 has recently come out (more interest) while D4 hasn’t had anything in a while (less interest). These two things will be bumping the numbers.

P.S I’m a long time PoE and formerly D3player. I’m stoked I didn’t buy into D4. If anyone hasn’t tried it yet, a D4 YouTuber called Darth Microtransactions described PoE as ‘everything I wanted in D4 but more and free’.

Haha money well spent supporting an independent studio from a little country at the bottom of the world made by a group of people who are legitimately passionate about the game!

Also just for fun $1k over 10 years = $100 a year. That’s not a bad amount imo! Also I’m guessing if you’ve spent that much money that you’ve spent an equally large amount of time playing!

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

Yep they’re owned by Tencent, however from what I’ve read, seen and experienced in game, Tencent don’t have much, if any, of an input on the development. Yes I know that Tencent staff sit on the board of GGG.

GGG did a rough patch a few years ago, I was out of the loop and not playing then, but it seems it’s made a fine comeback.

Lastly, if I’m not giving my money to a NZ company owned by Tencent (who I agree are very not cool), I’m most likely giving it to some equally bullshit, corrupt, money grabbing AAA developer in America so what’s the difference?

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

And $100-$200 on foot print skins…

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

Yea it is but it’s still made in New Zealand, and personally I suspect it was a way for them to break into the Chinese market, especially as Tencent facilitate online gaming services. I don’t have any proof of that, it’s just something I’ve thought about.

This move is part of a larger trend for the insider, who over the past year has sold a total of 50,610 shares and purchased none.

Nothing suspicious about that.

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

PoE rep! We need a community on lemmy already. I lack the, well, everything, to make/mod one.

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

Super interesting.

Does that mean that we’re pronouncing either helicopter or pterodactyl wrong? We don’t say the ‘pter’ parts the same way I think?

What are some commonly known facts that are too bizarre for you to believe to be true?

For me it is the fact that our blood contains iron. I earlier used to believe the word stood for some ‘organic element’ since I couldn’t accept we had metal flowing through our supposed carbon-based bodies, till I realized that is where the taste and smell of blood comes from.

Short: It completes a full 360° of the sun before the planet itself does a full 360° spin.

A few sentences longer:
In planet Earth human terms, we have defined one day as “how long it takes the planet to do a full 360 degree rotation”. Example: You spin a basketball on your finger and it does one full rotation.

A year to us is “how long it takes the planet to go around the sun”. Example: You hold a basketball out in front of you and you do one full rotation.

Counter Strike: raw aim, how to outsmart opponents, perfect practice makes perfect and if you put enough hours into anything and do it correctly/good, then you can get good at almost anything.

Path of Exile: Taught me about being efficient. If you’re repeating the same action 10,000 times, if you can cut even 1 second off each time you do that action, it adds up over time to a significant amount. And then you can try and cut another 2 seconds off…then another second.

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

Fuckin hours wooooooooooooo!

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

So how come it’s getting shat on? When it released on PS5 I played it for about an hour over a couple of days. I didn’t really like it, it’s full of microtransactions (like most games), blizzard are a shitty company etc, but from my experience I didn’t feel like it deserved to be rated worst game on steam, I feel like I’m missing something.

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

If I come across you in a dark alley and we’re all alone then you better be ready cos I’ll accept your opinion and offer some other suggestions of movies that we might like, such as all 3 Lord of the Rings (extended editions of course).

Could someone ELI5 how hard this is, what makes it hard and how insane it is? Are there modifiers that make it harder ? Tough mobs? Hard Bosses?

I’m a gamer but I’ve never played or seen Hades.

What is a good hobby for a depressed person?

So i still have depression and im constantly bored, i feel like a loser who cant do anything right. I want to let my creativeness out, make something i can share with the world or family, but im probably dreaming too big. I cant stand being depressed and bored, it stinks, everyone tells me to work out but i lack the motivation...

Gaming! There’s so many amazing games out there in all sorts of genres.

@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

Path of Exile is the first one that comes to mind. It’s entirely free but supported by Quality of Life and cosmetic microtransactions. However they don’t push the mxtrans on you at all, and I’m pretty sure that all content is available in the game for free.

It’s not free but Deep Rock Galactic has amazing reviews, can be bought on special for cheap, and is only about 3gb to download so it should run fine on an older PC!

Edit: I messed up the name of the first game, it’s Path of Exile.

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

But what does it smell like?

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

Why don’t the crackers just repackage it? Or is repackaging an art unto itself?

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

Thanks. So would an appropriate anaolgy be that of a video game software developer vs a publisher, eg publisher takes care of all of the public fronting, advertising, being the ‘name’ etc etc while the devs (crackers) are the ones doing the actual work on the product?

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

It’s an open air metal (music) festival! But there’s a lot of ‘underground’ metal bands. I live far away from it but it’d be wild to go.

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

It’s gotta be 1) the positive energy it brings and 2) the people.

I’ve been in a few different scenes, and metal heads were the ones that didn’t care what bands t-shirt you wore. If you were there for a good time so were they.

Point and case is Corpsegrinder, the vocalist of Cannibal Corpse. The dude plays skill tester arcade games while on tour and donates all the toys and stuff he wins to kids in need and posts about it on instagram.

sadbehr,
@sadbehr@lemmy.nz avatar

Na but that’s the thing right, everyone in the pit/circle is there by choice, and most of the time if someone gets knocked down they get picked up by others.

If you really wanna check out some wild stuff, look up Obscene Extreme Festival, it’s like Wacken but smaller. Everyone’s just there for a good time aye.
