roguetrick,

Yeah, you prove the field exists by exciting it and making it produce quanta, kind of like photons being the quanta of the EM field being excited.

roguetrick,

Well, you haven't gotten banned from feddit.de yet, so keep working on it with your copy and pastes.

roguetrick,

Ditto, after that talk about the TV show. I was like man, how far has he fallen.

roguetrick, (edited )

Hunter S Thompson is about to break the sound barrier he's spinning in his grave so hard.

Edit: Wait, he was cremated and shot out of a giant double thumbed fist wasn't he

roguetrick,

Particularly in communities he's banned in so only us Kbinauts have to look at it.

Tlaib's defense of Palestinian chant prompts Jewish Democrats to call for retraction (www.detroitnews.com)

U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s defense of a phrase used by Palestinians in connection with the war between Israel and Hamas is drawing condemnation from critics, including two prominent fellow Democrats — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin.

roguetrick,

If the colonists and the current troop movements in Gaza prove anything, the two state solution have been delusional for the last 20 years.

What it does, however is deny the statement "I believe that Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish state", which is supposedly antisemitic.

roguetrick,

This scenario is hard to stomach too, because such large, lumpy gas clouds should fracture into stars before forming a black hole.

Seems to make sense that in the denser early universe that pressure wasn't quite enough to overcome just how much mass these early clouds had hanging around so close.

roguetrick,

The man then drove into nearby Pickens County and pulled onto some property, where shots were fired. Sheriff's office investigators said they don't know who fired shots, but neither security officers nor deputies used their weapons.

I guess the trees were exercising their second amendment rights.

Edit: from another source

Investigators determined that they were warning shots fired by a property owner on Jones Mill Road, the news release says. No shots were fired by security officers or law enforcement during the incident.

roguetrick,

No.

roguetrick,

Sure.

roguetrick,

Haha I was already getting downvoted to hell so I didn't see much point of looking it back up, but cheers for your googling.

roguetrick,

Kbin thing. A boost is essentially a retweet on Twitter and Kbin makes those comments go to the top of the list. An upvote is a favorite. Lemmy only uses favorites and doesn't use boosts. Since Kbin uses can see all favorites and boots, we can see when users like Downpunxx do it to their own comments.

roguetrick,

I was already at around -5 actually at that point, which was quite amusing. And the vitriol like this continues to be incredibly amusing. Such a reaction over such stupidly small things.

roguetrick,

Haha, my incredibly controversial quote of some podunk newspaper about a minor note in a page 7 story. Yes, absolutely, what a transgression. I truly am scum.

roguetrick,

My friend, you're making character judgements and hurling abuse about some random content in the ass end of the fediverse. If you think I'm taking you remotely seriously you are severely mistaken.

roguetrick,

I wouldn't say that, but they both desperately need each other for sure. Russia has always wanted and will always want the dardenelles and the bosphorus and Turkey will always be in a military pissing match with them over it, no matter how cordial their outward relationship is. Geography drives politics there. That said, the idea that having the dardenelles in their pocket isn't a massive win for NATO is ridiculous. Turkey is one of the US''s most important strategic allies no matter what.

roguetrick,

Awesome, and needed, including on Kbin.social. Downpunxx posting genocide supporting nonsense on communities he's already banned from so it's only a nuisance to our users has been showing the need for instance level moderation.

roguetrick,

No it'll be someone else, but it'll still be played by Combs.

roguetrick,

Yeah but which only fans pages should I follow as a Linux user

roguetrick,

Voyager Tim Rus or Spaceballs Tim Rus.

Did American History X foreshadow the resurgence of white nationalism in the US? (www.bbc.com)

A brilliant film emerged from these skirmishes – but its core insight still takes work to unpack. For generations, a persistent myth that black families were irreparably broken by sloth and hedonism had been perpetuated by US culture. Congress’s landmark 1965 Moynihan Report, for example, blamed persistent racial inequality...

roguetrick,

When it came out I was dealing with National Alliance, Baltimore Hammerskins, and to a lesser extent the Pagans motorcycle gang in my area of Northern Maryland. It was far from historical if you were actively around white supremacist areas, particularly the rust belt or around orange county California. I remember visiting OC in the aughts and everyone confused me for a nazi, some waitress chick showed me her Himmler tattoo.

roguetrick,

Or anywhere near the punk subculture I guess. I feel like it's something that I've been hyper aware of my entire life.

roguetrick, (edited )

Yeah, that's a lack of understanding on your part. John birch society, national alliance in the US. OKC bombings were largely inspired by literature put out by the thankfully dead founder of the national alliance. National front in the UK. Israel... I mean was founded in coalition with nationalist terrorists so I don't know where that's coming from.

roguetrick,

I'm calling Irgun nationalist terrorists, who were in coalition in founding Israel alongside Labor Zionists(who I don't believe are nationalist terrorists). If you don't think that label applies to Irgun you're a whole hell of a lot more fascist adjacent than I am.

Being 20 years older than me and ignorant ain't something I'm impressed by.

roguetrick,

They were very close to each other regardless and both are strong influences on the current Likud.

roguetrick,

I was a SHARP skinhead involved with anti racist action, so my acquaintance with the situation was.... Intimate.

roguetrick,

She doesn't havea combination of toxic masculinity and an inferiority complex driving her to a self sabotaging rage, so I doubt she'll tilt at too many windmills.

roguetrick,

At this point she's just mad at you for reacting like you are.

roguetrick,

His focus on iron age temperature goals with neolithic tech is so strange.

roguetrick,

Just feels backwards. You'd have huge bloomeries with giant bellows and stocks of charcoal and extensive mining to do what he's doing.

roguetrick,

Funding coming from local taxes and causing severe differences in education quality is as American as Apple Pie. It's a old segregation holdover.

roguetrick,

There doesn't exist sci fi that isn't political. Even space opera and strange fiction is political.

roguetrick, (edited )

Too international to be run by a single government and a consortium wouldn't know who to ban. A nonprofit couldn't really afford the infrastructure required to run it. The problem lies in how the Internet works.

Alphabet absolutely needs it's cloud hosting, ad servicing, video hosting and software as a service trust busted though. Same with Amazon's cloud, twitch, video, physical distribution, and marketplace.

roguetrick,

Firaxis led the way for paradox on that development model.

roguetrick,

I don't think they want to be. I just think they want to fragment Android. I agree with them.

roguetrick,

Opening a space for an OS fork led by a consortium of mobile phone manufacturers that don't have a vested interest in supporting their ad and tracking business would be an overall benefit. Google sees value in android only for that, and that's a major problem.

roguetrick,

That taco is all shell. Likely to trigger chitin allergies if you eat too much. Don't recommend.

roguetrick,

You're not a bank, the details don't matter. Don't even bother with getting anything in writing from someone who is over leveraged, because you're already never getting that money back in any court regardless since the other creditors come first.

roguetrick,

He said I can make money by apply for loan against property, and loan to him and pocket the different.

You never give loans to someone that you're not completely prepared to write off. You absolutely don't give loans with loans (unless you're a bank and getting those loans from a central bank, which I doubt you are).

roguetrick,

for the purposes of its engine's anti-cheat tech—"all mods are defined as cheats, except when they are officially supported."

the moment in question

Second person to receive experimental pig heart transplant dies nearly six weeks after procedure (www.cnn.com)

Lawrence Faucette, the second living person to receive a genetically modified pig heart in a transplant, has died six weeks after the experimental procedure. The University of Maryland Medical Center, where the experimental procedure had been performed, said the heart began to show signs of rejection in recent days....

roguetrick,

It's tough, these folks are often already in multiorgan failure because those organs were trying to hold up for their failing heart. So now you've got shot kidneys and lungs but a brand new heart to try and hold up those failing organs. Then you end up right back into heart failure.

roguetrick, (edited )

Iran establishing relations with socialist regimes with a focus on minority rights is more dangerous for Iran than it is for Iran exporting any sort of ideology. I wouldn't worry about it. We're more likely to coup Boliva (again) just because of MAS than any relations with Iran.

roguetrick,

Only cloud hosting providers can provide hosting for themselves as cheaply as google. Microsoft and Amazon (except through prime video and twitch) have shown no interest in entering the fray. The downfall will only come through antitrust.

roguetrick,

I don't see how federation makes economic sense for video serving/hosting. To do it economicaly you need to have local data centers with peering agreements with local ISPs and good deals for transit. Only big data companies (Google) and huge or specialized self hosts(daily motion, Facebook), can really do it.

Reddit and Vimeo were stupid for hosting video on cloud services for that reason. Reddit wouldn't have been in such an economic crunch if they weren't burning money by serving video on the cloud.

roguetrick,

Bester would've been even more sinister with that hairstyle.

roguetrick,

I really don't know what country this sort of idioicy is trying to compare the US to. Many south american countries don't even allow life sentences and release serial killers after several years in jail. This shit is beyond fascist fantasyland.

roguetrick,

Yes I'm saying that arguments that a country is unreasonabley degenerate and corrupt and we need to kill these degenerates that while having no bearing in reality is fascist Fantasyland. It's their common rhetoric.
