One of the things I find cool about Kbin is the fact that it's a platform for both thread aggregation and microblogging. How much do you use the latter side of things? Do you make microblog posts, actively browse the microblog tab, view them in your home feed, or rarely touch them?
I actually joined kbin specifically because it had both of these features. I have read some microblogs, but haven't determined how I fit in with that culture enough to interact. Magazines are more like the bulletin boards of the past, which I am very familiar with. I like the opportunity to interact with the microblogs, tho, and don't expect to create another account just for that. I like this setup very much!
The leaders of Venezuela and Guyana said Thursday that they would not use force against each other amid a dispute over an oil-rich piece of Guyanese land and agreed to create a joint commission to address the territorial spat.
Is this actually good? It definitely don't know everything about the situation but it seems that there shouldn't need to be a joint commission. Venezuela just needs to stay home.
I currently have to stare at what is presumably @RichardvanDaalen being anally penetrated on the main page, no matter that I have blocked him, and no matter that I have hit refresh several times....
It looks like that poster may be a bot or troll. They just joined and somehow have made their own magazine and then crossposted from that mag, TO that mag, several times...
With the abandonment of Artemis (formerly kmoon), kbin is now only really usable by the mobile site. The site is really not suited for mobile devices however, and there have been minimal user-facing changes in the last few months....
I don't personally have any issues with the website on mobile, I wonder if it could be browser related? I'm also not expecting perfection from something that hasn't been around very long, and never was on reddit so have nothing to compare it to.
I think you have valid points about "dealing" and "learning" and for some, that will be a turnoff. For me, it is an adventure 🙂
This is interesting, and connected to the website that predates Wikipedia, https://www.aaroads.com/ ! I never really thought about the folks who ran that site, what a large amount of time and effort they have spent. And to do Wikipedia, also.
It does seem like these sort of hard rules will always come up against hard walls. There has to be some flexibility it seems.
I can't give you European recommendations, but as someone who has had pant challenges, I can make those. Consider evaluating why they are failing. Are the rips and tears in the fabric panels? You may be able to find pants that are reinforced in those areas or are of a more durable fabric. You could also consider repair. If the rips and tears are at seams, maybe you need extra stitching. This can also be repaired but isn't always cost effective. Also consider fit - if they don't for appropriately, this also can lead to increased wear.
Good luck! Sorry if I come off as a lecture and you know all these things.

While I don't appreciate the way this phrase is used currently, I'm not sure it is worthwhile getting too deep into it. Meanings change over time like discussed in the "hey" post the other day or more recently with the increased meanings for literally.
Assume that the future can change based on your actions, so any historical information that you bring along with you from the intervening 25 years may quickly drift out of the new realities history....
Reflecting on my own actions and the folks I met on the way, taking a better attitude would help a lot. I was young and had good conversations with different types of people but did nothing with that for close to another 15 years.
We had much of the information then, IMO. And I remember talking with much older folks who were willing to listen to teens/young adults about a variety of topics. I just wasn't willing to say anything. Even to my peers.
I don't have anything to add to this post, but am curious about the etymology here. I have never seen a sea lion, don't they just laze around on rocks?
If my question is inappropriate here, I understand.
This won't be helpful, but reading this thread makes me think about my angelfire website from, idk, 1998? I had that and a HTML 4.0 bible. Good times. Deleted times 😑
I read that the fediverse equivalent to bandcamp is using a webring, maybe there is or will be a fediverse hosting ecosystem?

While you can go for a period without many calories, you will need electrolytes. The recommendations for things like Pedialyte will help with that, but for foods you may just have to try what works for you. It's so personal.
Stay hydrated and "salted" and go from there. If you can't keep it down then it isn't for you. Salty foods will help you retain water.
I don't know if you are looking for meat analogues, but I got to eat hand made seitan once. Really great texture. It isn't something I see anywhere in places I tend to be so it was exotic to me. It was pretty labor intensitto make, I thought. It took a lot of water!
I think l so, the two people making it referred to "vital wheat gluten" and it was the primary ingredient by far. There were other ingredients, too. I think they used some nooch and tamari. Unsure on seasoning.

I just took a quick look at All Sides. How does it compare to Media Bias/Fact Check? I don't know how to "fact check" either one of these sources but that's what I have to do so.
I don't know if this is unpopular or not, but I really don't like hearing about folks' medical history. Like yes, I know you have anxiety/diabetes/whatever because you tell me every single time I see you. I, too, have a condition that requires me to take multiple pills everyday for my whole life, but you'd never know it bc I don't make it my identity. I'd rather not, and I'd rather not others who aren't facing death do it. On some cases I guess it speaks to the status of mental health care in my country since it almost seems like a cry for help that I just cannot answer.
I hate that I always compare Lemmy to Reddit, but Reddit used to have (not sure if they still do) guidelines called “Reddiquette” that included guidelines about upvoting and downvoting. I don’t remember the specifics (and sending too much of my browser traffic to Reddit makes me feel dirty) but one of the guidelines was...
I was never a reddit member and so may miss some of that nuance, but I vote for things I enjoyed reading or for folks I enjoyed interacting with. I thought about down voting one thing, but then leaned that group didn't work that way. The whole point was to say something that was against the grain.
I dislike the idea of clicking a link in a Kbin app, which opens the link separately in a browser app, then closing the tab, then closing the browser app, then going back to the Kbin app....
I didn't know there were any apps for kbin, but using a browser to begin with, it seems pretty seamless. The link opens, then I hit back and I am back at the thread.
I did see after looking aroind that Artemis has an app, is that what you are using?
Mull doesn't open the link in a new tab for me if you are interested in trying a different browser. Or you could try Artemis but I have no experience with that.
So far as I know, Artemis is an app for kbin. I don't k ow how it handles links tho. It may open them in the app (which I believe is what you want) or it may open them in a browser (which sounds like what you are experiencing now).
What are you using to browse kbin that opens these tabs? Vivaldi?
Wait, you said you don't have an app installed, and now you do? You also alluded to using your phone, my bad for not being more direct.
I still think you're better off using a browser, whether you are on mobile or computer. I'm also sorry to see nobody else chiming on since I am really out of my league here in no-app, never have used reddit land haha.
Ya sorry, I was starting to get on over my head enough that I don't think I was keeping track of what you were saying AND what I was saying so got confused there.
So Artemis works on a computer? I didn't know that! I use Firefox on computer and Mull on mobile and haven't experienced the "symptoms" you were bringing up but also may not have as nice of an interface.
This, and the other things I read about (like subscriptions for heated seats) are what will lead to some bizarre third party hack market for cars. Instead of taking a new vehicle to a place for custom pinstriping or whatever, folks will get them privatized.
This seems like a series a mishaps. If it crushed him, what would it have done to a box of peppers? It says he was inspecting sensors. Was something already going on? If so, maybe protocol needed to be different. What a tragedy.
A Seattle-based appellate judge ruled that the practice does not meet the threshold for an illegal privacy violation under state law, handing a big win to automakers Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and General Motors.
I don't know about now, but my first Linux OS was Ubuntu and I appreciated the long support because of this. That was in the dial up days, tho, I can't imagine why anyone would require that now ☠️
