reverendsteveii,

I can think of about 11,780 things he did

reverendsteveii,

No soap, radio!

reverendsteveii,

Nope, it says congress can vote to give traitors a pass but that just being a traitor is enough to disqualify you

reverendsteveii,

let them shit or get off the pot, then. MAGA has been trying to extort us with the threat of civil war for years now.

reverendsteveii,

This will go to the corrupt supreme court, which will determine that this part of the constitution doesn’t count

reverendsteveii,

Can the Republicans actually kick him out of the party and prevent him from representing them?

Yes, easily. Democrats actually went to court to establish legally that the nomination process is a process internal to a private organization and therefore not subject to election regulations. The real question is, can they survive kicking him out of the party? There are a lot of people who would absolutely follow Trump out the door if the Reps kicked him out, and they’d end up losing not just the presidency but probably tons of power up and down the ballot.

reverendsteveii,

He’s gonna win their primaries, but it would be wonderful to watch him lose and see all of his fellow traitors from 2020 deal with his post-failure tantrums like they forced us to.

reverendsteveii,

The only real choice here is to Nancy Reagan the entire wiggly bit all at once

nbcnews.com/…/gov-elect-youngkin-s-underage-son-t…

The governor of Virginia’s son committed voter fraud, got caught and turned away, waited half an hour, came back, and tried to commit voter fraud a second time. The governor said that there would be no legal consequences for his son despite having committed voter fraud twice.

So, for those of you keeping score at home, if Governor Youngkin likes the way you vote you can try to vote illegally as many times as you want, but if he doesn’t like the way you vote he won’t let you vote even if you’re legally allowed to.

reverendsteveii,

Memba when the cops broke into Bo Jean’s apartment, shot him in the face while he was sitting on his couch eating ice cream, then searched the apartment they broke into and had a big press conference about how he had <1 gram of marijuana?

Y’all know how american cops and the IDF trade people, training and techniques back and forth all the time?

reverendsteveii,

they might be losing the information war but they’ll always have the support of the governments of the english speaking world and they don’t actually need to win the information war. they’re winning the kill-the-other-guys war and no one who can do anything about it wants to.

reverendsteveii,

“There could be infrastructure there, there could be tunnels there.”

Translation:

We killed them all just in case one of them was an asshole. What if we’re actually totally justified in bombing a refugee camp? We certainly don’t know for sure that we weren’t. Now that all of those innocent children are dead we’re checking under their corpses to see if there’s anything we can use to make ourselves seem like the good guy here.

reverendsteveii,

They are only winning if killing civilians is winning

That is the goal that they’ve stated repeatedly

reverendsteveii,

in order to kill one terrorist you just created 300

If your goal is peaceful coexistence then this is a bad strategy, yes. If your goal is peaceful expansion and the annihilation of your neighbors then every terrorist you create also serves as an excuse for you to carpet bomb a neighborhood

reverendsteveii,

Less openly opinionated, more clinical and detached.

An officer-adjacent ballistic event resulted in a cessation of vitality in a known drug offender. No further details have been released at this time.

Think about how George Floyd was just ‘a counterfeiting suspect who overdosed on fentanyl’ until we saw the video where they knelt on his neck for minutes after he’s gone limp. The state uses passive, detached, clinical language to create distance between situations and the people responsible for creating them, and the news is an extension of the state.

reverendsteveii,

user input needs to be for advertisers, no one else

Of course. Companies listen to their customers, not their product.

reverendsteveii,

post the usernames?

reverendsteveii,

it’s defensiveness. a person who eats 19 strips of bacon for every meal doesn’t threaten the average omnivore. that person is arguing that they should do more of what they want to do anyway. the existence of a happy, healthy vegan, OTOH, threatens omnivores. it tells them that there is a choice other than meat, and what that does is force them to acknowledge that eating meat is a choice and that if you make that choice you’re responsible for the consequences. if you live in a world where meat is necessary, let’s call it the ferret diet because they’re my favorite obligate carnivores, then you didn’t really have a choice at all. as factory farming imposes cruelty on animals at the individual level and huge damage to the environment and climate on a collective level, the ferret diet allows you to say “🤷🤷 what are you gonna do?” veganism is an attempt to answer that question, and it’s a valid one. there are plenty of people who don’t eat any sort of animal product and are still happy and healthy. veganism threatens them because it makes the suffering they create a choice that they’ve made, rather than an inevitable consequence of being an obligate omnivore. bitching at vegans, trying to poke holes in vegan diets, all it is is an attempt to shed responsibility for your own life choices by pretending there never was a choice.

reverendsteveii,

Thanks. I had invented the phrase to make a point, that it literally isn’t a thing but some people will insist that humans are that way anyway.

reverendsteveii,

enjoy being tied up in court until you run out of money and they win by default

reverendsteveii,

So are lawyers. It’s their job.

reverendsteveii,

But really I’m not actually your friend

reverendsteveii,

of the two, Trump did more damage while he was president and had the bigger riot when he lost the popular vote, but Bush’s legacy of damage lasted from when he launched his forever wars in 02 all the way into the Biden administration

reverendsteveii,

Bank I quit working for 6 months ago did this. During the pandoodle our team was allowed to build itself as though WFH was permanent. Then someone in c-suite realized that the bank owned all the parking garages next to the offices they had all over the country, and that they were missing out on about $12/employee/day, so they started pressuring us to come in. Trouble is, some of our team was in Pittsburgh, some in Cleveland, some in Dallas, some in LA, and at least one we couldn’t prove but strongly suspected had his US work permission but was actually working from his family farm in Mexico. So we went from being comfortable in our homes with no commute and doing all of our meetings via teleconferencing to being uncomfortable, having anywhere from a 30 to 90 minute commute depending on which team member you talk to, and still only being able to meet online.

reverendsteveii,

It depends on the gig. I’m a software engineer, I’m at my happiest and most productive when I have a user story and no interruptions. I’m also a senior dev and recently passed my 10,000 hours, I don’t really benefit too much from close interaction with other devs on my team and their code will teach me anything they have to teach me. Thinking back to when I was fresh out of college, however, I benefited greatly from having a mentor who was close at hand for both coding and cultural learning.

reverendsteveii,

What’s wild about that is that I am working outside business hours when I wfh. I’m showing up earlier, staying later, doing little quick things when i think of them rather than putting them off until the next day in the office, and I’m taking a lot less PTO because there’s a pretty wide gulf between “too sick to get fully dressed, drive for 45 minutes and face actual human beings in person” and “too sick to accomplish anything if I’m left alone and allowed to take breaks when i need them”. But you’re right, there is a certain school of management that teaches that employees are an enemy who want nothing more than to steal from the company by being paid to do nothing, that a manager’s primary job is to catch and punish these slackers, and that a lack of evidence of employees slacking off is proof that they’re lazy and smart enough to hide it. Fortunately for me I now have a boss who knows that I do this work because I like it and that the team and the work will benefit most from me being left alone to do it and occasionally helped with blockers as they come up.

reverendsteveii,

Name a job that would try this shit in real life?

Idk, literally all of them? The fact that it’s physically impossible for them to bring the workload to your house doesn’t mean they aren’t gonna try every other method of manipulation and social pressure in an effort to get you to sacrifice yourself for the good of the company.

reverendsteveii,

/\ found the 90s standup comic

reverendsteveii,

I don’t like all these flavored coffees. Maple nut butter caramel fudge whatever. Can I just get a regular coffee?

Yes sir, right away. Here’s your tall black coffee

I mean, what’s the world coming to? I go into a coffee I can’t even get a normal coffee for a normal guy

Absolutely, sir. Anyway, that’ll be $3.95 and if you want cream or sugar in your black, drip-brewed coffee there’s a stand over there

I’m just a regular guy who wants a regular coffee, but in this crazy, mixed-up world…

reverendsteveii,

As someone who updooted your response: fuck you, you will be wrong forever

reverendsteveii,

Wait if you plant a poison on an NPC it doesn’t just go into their inventory? They’re actually poisoned instead?

reverendsteveii,

they don’t need those nutrients in an environment where those nutrients are just a available to them

Elon Musk gives X employees one year to replace your bank - ‘You won’t need a bank account... it would blow my mind if we don’t have that rolled out by the end of next year.’ (www.theverge.com)

“If it involves money. It’ll be on our platform. Money or securities or whatever. So, it’s not just like send $20 to my friend. I’m talking about, like, you won’t need a bank account.”...

reverendsteveii,

I’m gonna trust the guy who got rid of his CSAM team with my money.

I’m gonna trust the guy who pimped Dogecoin with my money.

reverendsteveii,

Lots of pro-child rape and child rape neutral opinions in this comment section.

reverendsteveii,

Child rape was always child rape, and if the people of 50 years ago were okay with child rape then that’s one very good reason that decent people stopped listening to them 50 years ago

reverendsteveii,

I just leave my last 30 or so torrents open. They have strict rules, but they’re simple to follow. If you just leave your torrents open you’ll follow the rules and accumulate enough bonus points for permanent free VIP rather quickly.

reverendsteveii,

Best purchase? Probably my steam deck. Nobody else in my family really plays games and I always felt like my choice was either to monopolize the living room TV or retreat to my cave where my PC can be the only person that cares about me. With my steam deck I can play almost every game I care to try, and I don’t have to be a dick to my partner who just wants to chitchat and watch bake off.

Best acquisition? Absolutely 100% the weight bench I got from FB marketplace for nothing. I’d go so far as to say that it literally saved my life at the beginning of the pandoodle when we were being super serial about locking down. I had just gone from a restaurant job to an office job anyway, so I was getting used to being a bit more sedentary and all of a sudden I had nowhere to go during the day, no access to the gym by the office, and nowhere to go/nothing to do all evening. I was probably about 5 minutes from trying to peel all the skin off my body just so I could say that something happened that day when some kind soul decided to put the bench up for free. Spent another $100 on adjustable dumbbells, then just kept trolling different online spots and picking up plates, dumbbells and barbells where I could. Now I can bench my weight, but more importantly I can sit still at work for almost 3 whole hours every day and sleep is a thing I do rather than a cruel joke.

reverendsteveii,

What’s really fun is the smell of multi-organ failure when you’re helping with hospice for an alcoholic.

reverendsteveii,

Darnella Frazier is the woman who recorded George Floyd’s murder. Her uncle was also killed by police. Recently a man was released and awarded several hundred thousand dollars after spending over a decade in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. After release, he was shot and killed by police. The police are a street gang, legitimized by capital in exchange for capital’s occasionally being allowed to direct the police’s constant stream of violence.

reverendsteveii,

Nope, talking about the one who told his followers to rip fetuses out of the bellies of pregnant women and smash them against the rocks, and to take any virgin girl children they find as sex slaves

reverendsteveii,

Impractical Deities be like “Okay Sal, now tell him to bring his kid up to the top of the mountain and kill it.”

reverendsteveii,

Like the downtown bus line, this meme goes everywhere I don’t wanna be

reverendsteveii,

Wait, when is Bonus Beer Night this year?

reverendsteveii,

In my state use both lanes to merge point is the law and they’ll remind you of it with signs several times on your way to the merge point.

reverendsteveii,

Me too, they’re one of my favorite power metal acts. I feel like it’s okay to pirate them though. Dude tried to steal my voice, so I’m gonna make unauthorized copies of his.
