Ah, the early days of the internet where every click on a link felt like you discovered something new and exciting. I remember making my own ‘homepage’ (with stats counter, most of the visits were my own), the dial-up modem’s noises, browsing open ftp servers to find interesting warez and generally not worrying about viruses.

I have all my book stored in Google Books, and I like it.

I see you say ‘no resale value’, but specs like that do 650,- to 700,- here in The Netherlands. Are you sure there is no value here? It seems as a firewall, it will consume lots of electricity. (Too much for 24/7?)

Was It aliens, coming down from the heavens, filling up at the Pramid of Cheops (it was a powerplant after all) and afterwards help doing chores? Ancient Astronauts Believers say an astounding ‘yes’

Men and women are often cited as having a different way of thinking. It would be nice if we both had the same thought pattern.

Would a cat-toy laser pointer distract a pilot in broad daylight?

A few months ago I got into an argument on TikTok about this. Some guy posted a video where he pretended to shine a laser pointer at a plane during the day, along with his mugshot and a news story about getting arrested for it. It was clearly a joke/photoshopped because the news story said it happened at midnight....

If the pilot is a cat, I’m sure it would

I can hang things straight without using measurement tools. I just ‘sense’ it is straight. A nice power to have.

Do you use the swipe to type feature on your phone? (kbin.social)

Is this how most people type on mobile these days, drawing lines all over a keyboard instead of tapping the individual keys? I've never had an iPhone so I don't even know if they can do this natively, but I know you can switch keyboards at least, so it should still be an option if not.

rayman30,
@rayman30@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, I use it all the time, it really works well and I am much faster than typing

TIL about the shortest war in history

TIL that the shortest war in history took place between Britain and Zanzibar on August 27, 1896, lasting only 38 minutes. The conflict arose due to a succession dispute within the Zanzibar Sultanate after the death of the ruling Sultan. As tensions escalated, the British government intervened and issued an ultimatum to the rival...

I'm being harassed by mosquitoes, how do i kill them all?

To my knowledge there’s no stagnant water on my property, I’ve run water through all my ptraps, and I’m careful to not leave doors open. Yet at any given time there’s at least 3 in my house. I can’t sleep, i can’t sit on the couch, i can’t exist in the fear of being sucked dry....

What video game have you played the most, that you think is garbage and no one else should ever play?

I have played Eve Online so many hours, and it’s a bad game. Don’t do it. you will spend hundreds of hours dreaming about the cool thing you’ll do later, but for 99% of players the cool thing will never happen. You will be part of the one percent’s cool thing....
