They come and go. They’re random clutter. We only need a few big instances that hosts a majority of the communities and that’s it. Why do we need so many smaller ones?
I think it’s a valid thing to consider. Due to the nature of the fediverse, there will always be small instances. I guess you could say their purpose is to allow Lemmy to be decentralized.
If you where to try and explain the Fediverse to someone, how would you explain it with it's different instances? As well as explain why it is better in some ways for the future of the Internet?

You’re right, there wasn’t. I didn’t read the article at first since I thought the title was clickbait, but it seems like they’re actually saying the ratings were lower than any debate in 2015 or later. They just phrased it in a confusing way.
