Ok, then I check upon you in a month.

For me Mastodon is still growing and getting more interesting, with more and more formal institutions joining (newspapers, NGOs, government institutions etc.).

If you put your maildir on a (disk attached to a) raspberry pi, install mutt, and make that pi accessible by ssh you always have access to your mail.

Yes. And yes thanks, it is Colombia without a u.

No worries, understandable!

Do you say the emojis after the sentence? :pondering-face:

I’m under 37 and also scratching my (European) head. Is this one of those insane US things?

Anyway, thanks for digging this up!

Not sure if I would have wanted to “explore the known world”. Seems like there was a lot of dying and killing involved.

Good news! Brave for Android now let's u use your favorite uBlock Origin Blocklists!

Under Settings > Brave Shields & privacy

Can you now add custom filterlists and edit Brave's default selection of the already avaible filterlists. Some of you now that this was possible before too (via brave://adblock) but at this time it had no UI and wasn't a official feature, now you can easily add, remove and customize fiterlists via the the settings.

Don’t use Brave.

I dont understand why this post is downvoted so much. It is calling the people who undermine Lemmy with CP Nazis (which they probably are) and points out some historical context of a specific term. I thought Lemmy would be up for that.

While we’re at it, let’s also celebrate the future cure of cancer, and the eventual reversal of global warming.

I'm done with NextCloud

Just had NextCloud denying my credentials (not for the first time). I know they weren’t wrong because I’m using a password manager. Logs didn’t say much. Was about to reinstall (again, not the first time nextcloud went bonkers on me) before I tried a docker compose down && docker compose up. Lo and behold after a restart...

I almost don’t dare to say this, but I’ve been running the snap for more than a year and have no complaints.

notsofunnycomment,
@notsofunnycomment@mander.xyz avatar

I have a weekly crontab that does…

  • nextcloud.export -abc (everything except the data)
  • …a backintime snapshot of the raw data folder.

I’m not fully happy with this yet though.

  • The nextcloud.export -abc command makes a full export of the config, database and apps. So in contrast to backintime, which rebuilds each snapshot only in terms of the files that changed since the previous snapshot, I have a full-blown new backup of config, database and apps every week.
  • I put the nextcloud instance in maintenance mode while running both commands, so the config, database and apps should fit the snapshot of the raw data. But it still feels tricky. I would prefer to have just have one full “file-change-based” weekly (or daily?) snapshot of e.g. a VM. That’s why I’m looking at this: docs.hanssonit.se/s/…/nextcloud-vm

Tags on Mastodon cause a post to appear on Lemmy? That sounds great, but I can’t find any documentation or anything about that. Do you have a link? Does it really work?

notsofunnycomment,
@notsofunnycomment@mander.xyz avatar

No you’ve got it the wrong way around. What they mean is that Lemmy should be underneath the post.

Having robbed the world for decades, and having personally solidified a rapacious system, these people are responsible for a lot of past and future misery, ranging from missed opportunities to death and disease.

To me, the act of amassing all that wealth is a crime by itself. It is the accumulation of countless (small and big) transactions in which you could have shared the value more equally, and decided not to. You could have paid your employees more, and decided not to. You could have made your product/service more affordable (to more people) and you decided not to. After having accumulated a certain amount of wealth, I think such decisions are immoral.
