nogooduser,

I saw it today and I thought that it was fun.

I thought that it was way better than the latest Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy films which a really didn’t like.

OK Microsoft... trying to log into Teams while work lapop updates to Windows 11. No longer works in any iPhone browser, including Edge. The app will not authenticate my work login. (lemmy.world)

Update…Per Microsoft’s instructions, disabled all tracking protections in Safari and requested desktop mode and it works. Their instructions say turn protections back on after using teams… 😐...

nogooduser,

The comment was that Teams was broken which implies that they have problems with it so I think that was the question.

nogooduser,

I think that it was fucking with me. I chose Aladdin and it really didn’t seem like it was going to get it until question 19 “does your character like flying on carpets?”

nogooduser,

One of the best times that I had was when I started a dark elf and decided to avoid using the fast travel gates to get to the popular places to level. I stayed and explored the areas around where I started out and it was great fun.

nogooduser,

I think that the way we were taught it was wrong.

It seemed that every time that I used “me and x” I was corrected to say “x and I”. They never gave a reason why it should be “x and I” so it seemed like it should always be that way. I imagine that there were cases where I wasn’t corrected because “me and x” was the correct way to say it but you don’t remember when they don’t correct you.

nogooduser,

I don’t think that they’ve bombed the West Bank before. Just had mobs nip in and kill people and steal land.

nogooduser,

How come they can only fit “Super Mario” on 2 but they can fit “Super Mario Bros” on 14?

nogooduser,

And they probably gave him a lower interest rate due to the perceived lower risk.

nogooduser,

I just started and finished (it’s not long) Red Matter after they released a PSVR2 version.

I’m also playing the Cyberpunk DLC.

nogooduser,

Same if they say to disable your ad blocker.

nogooduser,

Technically, I don’t block ads. I block trackers using privacy badger. If they were to just show me ads without trying to track me I’d be fine and they’d get some ad revenue. But they always put trackers in there, I see no ads and they get no money.

nogooduser,

I was aware that they made that change but I didn’t know it made it worse for tracker blocking. I don’t see ads and I don’t get the external discussions such as discus so it seems to work.

I’ll check it out.

nogooduser, (edited )

Yeah, I agree. I never really minded ads as I just mentally ignore them so I didn’t use an ad blocker for a very long time after it was common practice. I also disagreed with the principle of ad blockers as sites need to pay their expenses.

But then they abused the data that they collected to change people’s political opinions in a way that went way beyond just your standard political ads and that was it for me.

nogooduser,

I don’t think that we are incapable of doing that. What we have done is a balancing act of assisting Ukraine against Russia without going to war with Russia.

If we were to have sent in troops from the start then it would be a completely different picture. I’m not sure that it would be a better picture though.

nogooduser,

They want to look at how vaping is being marketed to kids to reduce the number starting to vape but they’re not changing the age restrictions as far as I know.

nogooduser,

There’s the shopping popup that tries to find better deals or vouchers for products you’re looking at. It’s easy to turn off though.

Searching the settings for “notification” does show others - a feature called Discover and sidebar apps seem to be able to send notifications but I’ve never seen either.

nogooduser,

Were they too interesting? We can’t have that!

nogooduser,

And if you convince the project manager that it won’t work by telling them all the reasons why they come back a few days or weeks later asking why it won’t work.

nogooduser,

Are you just ignoring people when they try to explain that to you?

Well, you ignored the actual question. The question was what could Biden have done to get the Dem nomination to the Supreme Court through in the face of McConnell obstructing it.

nogooduser,

Won’t autocomplete fail if you do “cd d” and then try the autocomplete?

Or is that what you mean by “decent” auto-completion?

nogooduser,

I think that the argument is that if an employer can afford to pay a worker $30,000 per year and the unemployment tax is $3,000 per year then the employee gets $27,000 per year. So the employee effectively paid that tax, not the employer, even though the employer is the one who sent the money and the employer is the one who is liable for the money.

They just pass the burden onto the employee. They have to because that’s just how it works. Just like the customers pay for a restaurant’s rent in the form of an increase in prices to cover the cost.

nogooduser,

You should always change your password from the system generated one to prevent that from happening. The app that you signed up for should enforce that by making you change your password when you log in.

nogooduser,

If the ads come to Prime, then I might cancel that. It’s already our least watched service and it’s been getting a free pass because of the next day delivery.

I don’t want to watch ads, I don’t want to pay an extra £30 per year to not see ads and I don’t need next day delivery often enough to keep it for that.

nogooduser,

It’s already £95 per year and I only use the next day delivery and the TV. I’m not sure that I want to pay another £30 or so to maintain the ad free service that I currently have. I certainly don’t want to watch adverts.

I could do with cutting my TV services back as I have too many and I probably use Prime video less than the others due to the awful UI.

nogooduser,

I think that they ignore that second point.

Advertisers have a legitimate interest to process your data and they use the legitimate interest option to do so completely ignoring the fact that they need to infringe upon your privacy to do it.

nogooduser,

The rule itself is not a loophole.

To use legitimate interest as a reason to process data you need you be able to argue that you do actually have a good reason to do so and that the user would expect you to process it.

For example, I think that websites have a legitimate interest in anonymously tracking your browser behaviour to analyse performance data and errors so that they can improve their app.

The loophole is that advertisers use it to process way too much data (when they are pretty much the reason for the bloody law in the first place) and that nothing is done about it.

nogooduser,

I reckon that he would if a) Hunter is sent to prison and b) Joe doesn’t get re-elected.

I can’t imagine that Joe would care enough about the bad press at the end of his career to leave Hunter inside.

nogooduser,

And remove the evidence that the door was ever open even though everyone knows that the door was open, the evidence existed and where the evidence was kept.

nogooduser,

Existing games built on Unity will also be hit with Runtime Fees if they meet the thresholds starting January 1.

How can you have a deal in place and just say “you’re giving me more money” and think that that’s ok?

I am altering the deal, pray I don’t alter it any further. - Vader

nogooduser,

It also describes a right to own property but I don’t think that anyone would argue that you should receive that property for free.

nogooduser,

I used to block search results from that site for this very reason. I don’t seem to ever get anything from them anymore though.

nogooduser,

Using the built in Google option. It was years ago though.

nogooduser,

I recently had a complaint form refuse my complaint because it was too rude!

There wasn’t any bad language in it at all. I removed the sentence "It’s now more than two months since the accident and I would have expected the repairs to have been completed by now” and that let it through - sensitive or what?

nogooduser,

I’m scared for the cat. He deserves whatever happens but the cat doesn’t.

Google calendar won't open links in Firefox iOS (lemmy.sdf.org)

It’s the only browser I have installed besides Safari, and my default browser but instead of just opening the link with my default browser, it advertises these other browsers to me and makes me click ‘Default browser app’ by default. wtf I’ll be turning that off, should have never been a feature.

nogooduser,

Also, it’s turned on the ask me every time option so you’re likely to be asked a few times as you’re likely to just hit the option you want before realising that there’s a way to turn it off.

nogooduser,

Unless you’re from Sheffield then it’s Henderson’s.

nogooduser,

They’ve already done this in Outlook. It opens the web page in Edge and the email in a side panel. I don’t really like it but I’ve not mustered up the energy to find out how to fix it. It did ask me if I wanted to turn the feature off the other day but I’d already shut that pop up down before I realised what it was.

nogooduser,

It should be regulated at least as much as food though don’t you think? Not just ban it for under 18s but specify what can or can’t go into a vape product.

Otherwise you’ll get companies using cheap but dangerous to inhale substances over more expensive safer substances that do the same job.

nogooduser,

Apparently, there should have only been 6 colours in the rainbow in the first place. Newton allegedly added indigo because he believed that there should be 7 for occult reasons.

nogooduser,

Why is it not world news? Every news article is local to somewhere.

nogooduser,

It would also support the Russian propaganda machine when the Ukrainian people repossess their homes and throw the Russians out of homes that they have bought (from people who didn’t own them).

nogooduser,

I imagine that when it was formed there were two options - allow permanent members or form without the most important members.

nogooduser,

It’s someone not eating properly. The fact that they didn’t eat animal products is irrelevant. People get Ill and die while eating a shit non vegan diet too.

nogooduser,

I also infuriate me.

When I’m doing any type of DIY and finish using a tool for the moment it goes on the floor or table closest to me and I can never find the bloody thing when I next need it.

If I apply some discipline and designate an area for tools then things do go much more smoothly.

bikelover, to amitheasshole

My husband unilaterally ended our relationship about 6 months ago, but we still live together. We have 3 kids. For the long term, we brainstormed either living together, or getting two places very close to each other. We never agreed on either, but we agreed we would decide future housing together.

I cannot stay by myself in our condo b/c it's university housing (he's faculty). A few months ago, I saw a place a few blocks from our home. I thought it would be great for all of us if I moved there and that he would agree, and I contacted the landlord. My husband was furious. He asked me to promise to never sign a lease without asking him. I refused. That day, he told me "I would never do this, but I could contact that landlord and tell him that you are having custody issues." I backed off and said I wasn't planning on signing any leases.

(I do the vast majority of the childcare outside of the kids' school hours, so my guess for why he was furious is that he wants to be able to easily see the kids for an hour or two here or there, and still be able to work as much as he wants to. But I don't know.)

Since that comment, which I would consider a threat or veiled threat, he has proposed many arrangements where we live together, including one where we build a wall in our 2BR condo and we build a kitchenette for me (and he keeps the kitchen). I've said that I don't like any of these arrangements and that I think it's very rare for people to divorce and live together for 10 years. And I said I wanted to look for two places close to each other, which he doesn't want.

I felt we were at an impasse. But I felt that if I told him I was going to get my own place, he might make it very hard as per his threat; and there are few options close to our condo to begin with. So I found a place nearby and signed a lease and will tell him very soon.

AITA for breaking our agreement to decide together, and for going behind his back?

#amitheasshole

nogooduser,

NTA

You said that you wanted to move out and he threatened you. He’s obviously not going to agree to what you want which would mean that he automatically gets what he wants.

That’s not fair or reasonable.
