be careful with Accutane I went from a normal happy kid to attempted self harm in 3 months. then they took me off it and all the bad thoughts just stopped.
Hello everyone - I have been wanting to ditch windows on my gaming pc for a while now, and since I have recently finished a large project, I now have the free time to switch. I am relatively comfortable with Debian having used it for a while on my web server as well as school laptop, but I am concerned about using it on my...
Debian is great for gaming just takes a little work. I run Debian sid and that has its pros and cons but I do it to have super updated packages and to help report bugs. But running stable with a mix of flatpaks and backports works great as well.
Debian is great since it’s just super vanilla packages from upstream for you to make it the way you want it.
I use KDE but that is out of habit and preference I have used them all and they all have pros and cons. Debian doesn’t customize them at all so there is no Debian specific DE for stable or sid.
It’s all about how they make you feel using them. also the nice thing is you can use gnome apps on kde and kde apps on gnome so unless you super care about theme there is no down side.
Like my favorite scanner app is Document Scanner for gnome and when I’m on gnome my favorite text editor is Kate. Yeah you’re doubling your needed disk space for libraries but disks space is cheap and your going to use up more space with flatpaks anyway.
I run AMD now but ran Nvidia for years (RIP Evga). I had no issues with ether DE, other than the occasional update breaking things (only an issue with Sid) but that’s what you use timeshift to rollback for when something breaks and apt-listbugs to be aware of issues before you update.
Note you can swap between X11 and Wayland on KDE by just changing the session on login.

My understanding of the history of fashion is that back in the 1950s America it was expected that you wore a suit/dress at work unless you had a different uniform. Basically MacOS is high end fashion wear that is only workable on a runway and is outrageously expensive. It’s worn as status not for function. You wear it like the designer thinks it should be worn not how you want it otherwise your wearing it wrong.
Shame they didn’t even mention Stevie Case since they even had her on the cover of one of their issues from what I recall. As a Game God but I agree Roberta Williams should be on there.
My SO bought me the collectors edition of Diablo 4 as a gift . Since I had the CE’s for Diablo 2 and 3 and a box copy of Diablo 1 and wanted to complete my collection. Not realizing it didn’t come with the game and I just have a lack of desire to play it I have not bought the actual game. Which Speaks volumes to me about why the demand is just not there, but I understand that’s anecdotal evidence.
There are tons of Notes app available in the playstore and f-droid. I have use my fair share of them these are my best 5 recommendations. All of these are free to use and have to pay extra if you want specific features....
Currently what’s the best way to create your “spin” or remix of a Linux distribution? It doesn’t matter which distribution it uses as a base. I just want to be able to 1.add and remove packages 2.be able to change deault settings easily.
the best way i find is do a minimal install then if you are using deb bases system you just create a package.txt file with a list of all the packages you want to install then you just run sudo apt install < package.txt
Then create a config directory tree for all the home directory configs in the correct paths then you can gnu stow to create links to the correct path in the home directory.
Then you can commit it to a git Repo or copy it to a file share. so that on your next system install you just do a git clone to your stow directory then run stow to create the links. note you can also manage your package.txt in git as well.
TLDR: I am running some Docker containers on a homelab server, and the containers’ volumes are mapped to NFS shares on my NAS. Is that bad performance?...

For those who watched DS9 during its first airings, did it seem odd to you that Vic Fontaine/James Darren sang entire songs in the later seasons of DS9?...
Cause he was cool as hell. Him working with Nog was some of the best television ever. Only dumb thing was him being a person in the mirror universe. But that is minor. The singing after Jadzia died was gut retching.
My heart goes out to you. The climate extremes are going to make that even worse. The only comfort i get is when the head of Security for the rich in their bunkers they have built to ride out social collapse. Tosses them out on their ass and take over the bunker. Cause their money no longer means anything. How sad is that?
i have been doing Linux for 22 years and know it in and out for the most part and you never stop copying and pasting. sometimes I know it fully and still copy and paste out of pure laziness for longer one liners. but best advice I can give is. Don’t ever feel like your not good at Linux case you use a DE vs window manager. or use one distro vs another. There is some gatekeeping people do just like with any hobby/community. Just ignore them and enjoy learning something new.
Trust me, you will miss the wonder of learning and playing with a new interface and ways of doing things. its funny I go the other way now loading up windows 3.1 in DOSbox just to play and try and remember how to do things and get things working.
yes it can be changed just to un check the box that says Cdrom in sources list. you may need to install that package as im not sure it is installed on debian by default. I start with a minimum install and build my system from there so it’s been a long time since I have seen a default install.
i honestly think a good way to do this is give communities the option to be apart of the same network and merge like IRC does. so you Federate to see different communities like we do now and merge posts from different servers as a layer on top to show one community. now do i know how to do that not a clue. I also think something like a side bar webring would work as well.
