I had this bug (feature) where when I was hosting, pulse would stream the music I was listening to to other players in Deep Rock Galactic. I had no idea it was happening until some one asked me what mod I was using. It apparently wasn’t the best quality so I ‘fixed’ it.
This vast infringement is causing publishers and authors serious financial and creative harm, publishers allege.
Creative harm? As in switching out one graph for the another? Mixing up the table of contents? Maybe adding a sentence or two every few years when that research paper is in the public domain?

Publishers should shut the fuck up and take the money that is given to them by rich kids parents. Everyone else can’t afford their shit. They’re making the decades old mistake of thinking that everyone that downloads their books freely would’ve paid for it.
Several months ago Beehaw received a report about CSAM (i.e. Child Sexual Abuse Material). As an admin, I had to investigate this in order to verify and take the next steps. It’s not hate (why would I hate a phone), it’s ridicule. Reminds me of the term “bulshytt” from Neal Stephenson’s Anathem.
bulshytt: Technical and clinical term denoting speech (typically but not necessarily commercial or political) that employs euphemism, convenient vagueness, numbing repetition, and other such rhetorical subterfuges to create the impression that something has been said.
They could’ve picked any other word and used it for the same purpose. Maybe an iPhone Pretzel Rectangle, but of course those are more syllables then the marketing team would’ve liked.
Even with your helpful explanation, I’ve only a vague idea of what it means; specifically, points 3 and 4. It has “Pro” specifications and it is “Max” size. Professionals use this phone? This is the largest item this company can currently make? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I absolutely hate “smart” TVs! You can’t even buy a quality “dumb” panel anymore. I can’t convince the rest of my family and friends that the only things those smarts bring are built-in obsolescence, ads, and privacy issues....
I don’t think I’ll ever need anything like a streaming box or whatever. I’m fine with the computer monitor I have right now, which is a bit wider then an early 2000’s CRT. Anything I stream is done through Firefox with NoScript and Origin to block the bullshit. I’m not entirely sure why anyone uses streaming boxes and whatnot when you can just do the same thing, but safer and cheaper on a desktop. Maybe so you can more easily watch stuff with people in the same room? Find a use for that couch? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
i dont know why but with firefox on linux when im watching a youtube video i like to adject the volume abit and when i go to watch a different video my set default app volume for firefox in pavucontrol goes from 75 to 64 how do i fix this?
I see from another comment that you’re using flatpak; though, if you’re using Ubuntu it will probably install firefox via snap anyway, or ‘update’ to the snap version. Good luck.
Hi all, I’m switching motherboards. No dGPU. Going from an Intel MB to an AMD one. I have my root partition on an nvme and the home one on a 2.5" sata. Do I need to reinstall, or can I just move the drives from the old MB to the new one without a problem? Figured since both Intel and AMD drivers are both baked into the kernel...
From what Timeshift tells me, yes. Just restore it on another system; however, I’ve never done it myself. I don’t see how it wouldn’t work though, as long as your not also switching distros.
so my old GPU died a few days ago and I was thinking which brand of GPU to get next. AMD or Nvidia? I’ve heard Nvidia drivers are very annoying with Linux but I’ve never had an AMD GPU before. Which would be better? I’ll sometimee switch to Windows to play specific games as well.
I have a 1070 Ti, but I’m on Ubuntu and I haven’t had any issues at all for ~5 years. IMO the issue then is Arch, and how the drivers are handled. I also have only updated the driver once (450-server to 525-server), when Satisfactory switched to unreal engine 5.
I would still recommend AMD though, and I also plan on switching when I have the money for it.
There is a lot of discussion happening in the background of our project here. We could not anticipate all of the challenges that we were going to face a few years ago. One of the reasons for this was because we had no idea what our choice of a platform would bring....
I have two accounts. One for another instance that’s mainly local, and one for Beehaw when I don’t want to deal with bullshit; which is most of the time.
Pretty much same for me. Also you might not want to place your plutonium out of bounds. There might be an update in the future for Nuclear Waste recycling since that is ostensibly possible irl, just really expensive and not worth it atm.

Most of the video games I’ve played were pretty good. The only one I can think of that I didn’t like was MySims Kingdom for the Nintendo DS. Dropped that pretty quickly. It was a long while ago, but I’ll guess it was because there were too many fetch quests and annoying controls.
I dropped that game when I couldn’t cross a bridge because it was blocked by an invisible wall broken down bus. It was so egregious I got annoyed and went outside.
I’m fairly new to piracy overall, but I feel like I understand the basics of how to avoid my ISP and such. A family member who’s in college texted me the other day asking how she could pirate textbooks and I realized I’d never thought about it. Any tips for pirating textbooks? Safe sites?
Publication date doesn’t really matter much at my uni, since the only differences would be chapter and page number. I easily make do with the search function in the pdf. …for now. I’m not sure about upper level courses yet.
