Amazon is a ripoff (pluralistic.net)

The idea that a company can do anything to create or perpetuate a monopoly so long as its prices go down and/or its quality goes up is directly to blame for the rise of Big Tech. These companies burned through their investors’ cash for years, selling goods and services below cost, or even giving stuff away for free. Think of...

A new Silicon Valley manifesto reveals the bleak, dangerous philosophy driving the tech industry (theconversation.com)

Software that controls your body should always respect your freedom. This article is a recap of scandals of medical devices, like hearing aids, insulin pumps, bionic eyes, and pacemakers, and what we can learn from them. Thursday on X (Twitter), all users saw the same pinned topic under the “What’s happening?” sidebar. 25 years since The Halloween Documents, the Microsoft vs. Linux and Open Source memos (www.catb.org)

“In the last week of October 1998, a confidential Microsoft memorandum on Redmond’s strategy against Linux and Open Source software was leaked to me by a source who shall remain nameless. I annotated this memorandum with explanation and commentary over Halloween Weekend and released it to the national press. Microsoft was...

Yeah same here. Not to mention that recently they started nagging you a lot when using ad-blocker. And not to mention all the Google spyware going on on Youtube

Couldn’t agree more with this. It was a well worth switch for me too. They had some moment of bullshiting with closed MQA audio format abut have now come to senses and are getting rid of this nonsense and switching to open FLAC for lossless audio also for highest quality.
