lettruthout,

And whale oil used to be a thing. I’m hoping natural gas will also go away.

lettruthout,

Thank you! I found it with your help.

lettruthout,

Or… you cleverly used Cunningham’s Law.

lettruthout,

Inka Polish grain beverage. Hard to find in US stores but can be ordered. Add the powder to fully boiling water then add what you like. My preference is honey and soy milk to end up like a love child of coffee and hot chocolate.

lettruthout,

Interesting sounding project. Is functional or art?

lettruthout,

Were the test subjects comfortably numb during the test?

lettruthout,

I struggle with this too. I find making detailed notes helps a lot. Just writing them helps me understand better. Then later they help me get back to where I last left off. The fog part I‘m still working on. One trick is to take mini-breaks to think/meditate on some un-related mechanical project. After a minute or two my brain (most times) is ready to get back to coding.

lettruthout,

That old lady was right. Those Russian soldiers are fertilizing the fields.

lettruthout,

Peanut butter and jelly. If you want to be a culinary genius, toast the bread.

lettruthout,

“Defense” manufacturers make more money off of war than peace. And they have lobbyists.

No wonder we have perpetual war.

lettruthout,

It makes me sick that the US is supporting these atrocities.

lettruthout,

Yeah, brutal.

So what are the chances of this sort of video being viewed by Russian citizens? 'Would make them think about their choices knowing how someone (they may have known) was killed.

On the other hand, what kind of choices do they have anyway?

lettruthout,

Does not work on MacOS Firefox.

lettruthout,

and the company becomes worker owned and operated

That’s brilliant!

lettruthout,

And… they can begin making payments on their share of the federal debt.

lettruthout,

Instead let’s have more light rail and electric buses please.

Anyone have experience with buying on eBay?

I bought a “Buy It Now” item, payment went through. Two days later, I got an email saying I got a refund. I looked at the order and I looks like I indeed got a full refund. There are no notes or messages from the seller, so I’m not really sure what happened. Should I message the seller? Report that I haven’t received the...

lettruthout,

What type of product were you trying to buy? I had trouble like this when ordering borate wood preservative. Maybe six sellers cancelled my order. Not all replied to my messages asking for more info. Those that did vaguely referred to shipping problems. Eventually I gave up on eBay and got the item from an online store. HTH.

lettruthout,

I moved from DO after my IP address landed on a spam list. At the time DO specifically discouraged installation of mail servers on their machines. Since then I‘ve been running my Mail in a Box server on a Vultr instance with good results.

lettruthout,

It works with snakes too… June 2: Yell “Fudge” at the Cobras in North America Day

(There are no true cobras in North America so yelling “fudge” must work!)

lettruthout,

Hey Southern California Edison, are you seeing this? (Oh wait, they’re budy collaborating with the Public Utilities Commission to do away with anything but their big solar installations.)

lettruthout,

Maybe it’s about time to suggest to Israel that, instead of spending all that money on bombs and missiles, that gas chambers would be more cost effective.

lettruthout,

Hmm… Is that what was done here:

lemmy.world/post/6657436

I’m not seeing a link in the body, but what’s the section above the body? That seems to have a link.

lettruthout,

OK, that makes sense. Just did some tests.

It worked with an ABC News link, but not with an Axios link. Also: It doesn’t look like the thumbnail is visible when creating a post (after entering the article link).

My posts would look better on a feed if I could also choose a thumbnail. But I still like Lemmy.

lettruthout,

OK, I see. The workaround is to create a post using the link to the image, then include the link to the actual article in the body. Got it.

lettruthout,

And the pro-nuclear, and pro-fossil fuel, posters complain about wind turbines.

lettruthout,

Pavlov was sitting in a bar, enjoying a beer. When someone else came in, the door caused a bell to ring.

Pavlov jumped up: “Oh no, I forgot to feed the dog!”

lettruthout,

Our dog used to love jumping after balls at the beach. We’d do it often. I regret it now. In later life he developed major hip and leg problems. It took thousands of dollars to get him to where he could walk without much pain.

lettruthout,

Yeah, at first I was wondering if the drone was in danger.

lettruthout,

Let’s be more exact. There’s the scientific process and then there’s the result of science.

The scientific process encourages further study and research. It’s based upon facts. Our view of the world changes with more discoveries. That’s what you believe in, right?

The result of science is immense. You might study one part but have no exposure/interest in another part. Because you accept the scientific process, you can accept the results in other areas without it being a religion.

Contrast that with religion: it doesn’t tolerate questions because it has no factual answers. The process is to just blindly accept whatever the holy person/scripture says. We can see around us now how well that is going.

lettruthout,

I see your great idea and raise it with the “lose it” concept…

Have an end of a bread loaf you don’t know what to do with? How about the crumbs left over in that bag of cereal or nuts? The next time you make oatmeal, just add them to the pot (cutting up the bread beforehand of course).

Losing it like this makes breakfast more interesting and make use of the (yes minucule) stuff that might otherwise be thrown away.

lettruthout,

I knew someone that years before would dispose of his cars by dragging them back into his woods (to supposedly) decompose by themselves.
Years later he had a change of heart and pulled them back out but was laughing ruefully at himself because the woods had grown considerably. It was a lot harder going the other way.

lettruthout,

There ain’t no hate quite like Christian love.

lettruthout,

I’ve been using it for a few years (on a mail server and some websites) and am really happy. It’s worth looking into.

lettruthout,

Thanks for mentioning Caddy. 'Will consider that for my next project.

lettruthout,

Thanks for the feedback on Caddy. 'Will consider that for my next project.

lettruthout,

Didn’t Iceland do this a few years ago, after their economy crashed?

lettruthout,

A Roman walks into a bar, holds up two fingers and says “I’d like five martinis please.”

lettruthout,

Hah, that’ probably where I got it! Thanks!

lettruthout,

There’s no indication it slid to a stop. So it just fell straight down?

lettruthout,

That “wrong source” argument can be an indication you’re dealing with someone who is closed off to ideas that conflict with their world view. There may be no point in arguing with them.
If you are looking to see “both” sides of an issue, have you already seen the MIT project Improve the News?

lettruthout,

'Wish I could upvote a second time for great use of the term “event horizon”!

lettruthout,

So taking away those books is supposed to stop all kids from turning gay?
Why haven’t all the thousands of straight character books turned gay kids straight?

Enough of this stupidity.

lettruthout,

Kinda worthless in the age of drone reconnaissance - it’s easy to see the absence of tracks leading up to the “tanks”.

lettruthout,

Why are the pyramids in Egypt?

Because they were too heavy for the British to steal.
