The Lemmy userbase is so small by comparison to reddit. I don’t like subscriptions or ads but my god man’s gotta eat. People get butthurt way too easily over this stuff.

YSK: Browsing "ALL" at work might get you pulled into an office, even with NSFW off.

Why YSK: It appears several Lemmy Instances are flagged as suspicious and at least 1 instance intentionally using the name of ransomware. A couple of the big enterprise monitoring suites (Fortiguard, ZScaler) will flag your account and may end up with you being pulled into an office for an explanation, or worse....

See I’d connect, but it would be on a VPN the whole time.

Bro who tf is stealing Payday let alone to play alone. What a waste of money and a fuck you to paying customers.

Joining China's Belt and Road was an 'atrocious' decision, Italian minister says (www.reuters.com)

The decision to join the Silk Road multiplied China’s exports to Italy but did not have the same effect on Italian exports to China, Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said. “The issue today is: how to walk back [from the BRI] without damaging relations [with Beijing], because it is true that China is a competitor, but...

Right? What a stupid article. The answer is a resounding YES. Facebook knowingly profited off misinformation and rage. They don’t give two shits if they cause societal collapse by eroding confidence in our institutions so long as they make a buck in the process. Fuck Facebook and Mark Fuckerberg.

Apps you can’t delete? Gotta be Samsung?

ilickfrogs,

Better yet, Lemmy should get the much asked for ability to filter out keywords from our feeds. Musk, Twitter and reddit would be blocked immediately. I’m so sick of them.

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

What in the fuck? How? By using joe blows tiktok post as an answer to a question?

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

I type my question in Google with reddit at the end. Then my lovely Firefox extension redirects me to the web archive version.

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

It’s funny, I always kept Firefox and Brave (yes I’m aware its chromium and full of fuckery) installed. But as soon as this news broke, before it was even confirmed, I swapped back from Brave to Firefox as my primary. Fuck Google for this. They’re just truly not the company they once were.

Oh god no, never said otherwise. But for years they struck this equilibrium between evil and quality of services offered in exchange. That value had been rapidly deteriorating for the last 5 years or so. It’s just sad to see is all.

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

Right? You’d swear they invented the imperial system the way they latch on to it. Fucking ridiculous.

Jokes on them, I hated GM vehicles before and now I’ve just got more reason to avoid them lol

ilickfrogs,

Just about everywhere does that. People love throwing around the charge back option on the internet but it often fucked you over. Some companies use 3rd party payment processors so it can not only ban you from the company you charged back but also anything else using that processor.

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

The fuck kind of drugs you on? I’ll have some.

ilickfrogs,

It is and it isn’t. I find the decline of malls and their abandonment absolutely fascinating. Relics of their time before online shopping. From behemoths of capitalism to shells of their former selves. Hell anything abandoned is kind of cool. But malls kinda hit different.

Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

Only when I’m googling something that points to reddit. But even then not really as I’m using an extension that redirects all reddit links to their webarchive version.

ilickfrogs,

Oh no! Them poor poor rich folk :(

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, HOW DARE THEM. The absolute audacity of people to enjoy themselves with something that doesn’t appeal to you…

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

I know with family people also greatly value “Find My”. Especially parents and their children. I’m very well versed in iOS and android as I’ve had both. Google Maps location sharing is ok but not the same as “Find My”.

Meta Services, Sorry WHAT!? (lemmy.world)

Meta/Facebook preinstalls an app called Meta Services (previously Facebook services) on a very large percentage of android devices (I’ve never used one without it) and while they claim it helps updates and synchronisation between different meta apps, it is very suspicious. Why preinstall it on devices of people who will...

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

That’s always been my only reason for holding google to a different standard. I know what data they harvest and see really clever optimizations and tailored experiences for me on their services. I actively see the benefit of my data being collected as the end user. I’ve ever felt that with meta products.

E2E encrypted communication can be used for nefarious things, that's a fact. But it's something that needs to be standardized because the accessibility of any and all private communication or information to so few individuals can be used so much more nefariously. Really wish people were more concerned about data privacy. It's not about how your data will be use against you.... It's about how OUR data is used against US.

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

I've had bot android and iOS over the years. Love them both for their own reasons. Currently rocking a pixel 7.

I would love to see that but can't imagine all the VCs would want to see it.

ilickfrogs,

I agree, I think following this initial burst of users and our feedback we'll get there with time.

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

I'm exclusively using Lemmy and it's taken the place of boost on my home screen. I also exclusively open reddit in Google web cache and archive.org when I need a ressource that's within the years of reddit content. Fuck reddit and fuck spez.

ilickfrogs,
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

Up until 3rd party app devs announced they're converting their apps to Lemmy? Yes.

Now, absolutely the fuck not. Reddit is a cesspool compared to when I first joined in 2013. Lemmy feels a lot more like reddit did then. It's quaint and cozy here. Yes I'd like to see this place grow some more. But 1/10th the size of reddit would be plenty. Most reddit users don't contribute anything useful anyways so no loss there.
