gnutrino,

There’s a reason they’re nicknamed “suicide cords”

gnutrino,

It’s also the Colo[u]r of Kerbals’ skin in ksp

gnutrino, (edited )

Probably 100s of millions of dollars so far over the course of about 15 years.

OK but the claim is that they made ~$12billion in profit in 2021 alone so that actually wouldn’t affect the margin that much if true…

gnutrino,

Also works for attracting a certain set of men.

gnutrino,

Is it going to boost profits though? This sort of thing is always presented as an easy way to boost ad revenue but when you’re selling ads at the volume reddit is I would have thought click-through rate would be king and it’s going to decimate that.

gnutrino,

I mean, the actual source for this statistic is usually “The Overworked American: The Unexpected Decline of Leisure” by Juliet Schor who in turn got the number from an unpublished paper written by Gregory Clark in 1986. Clark did eventually publish a paper in 2018 where he increased his estimate to 250-300 days (which may still be less than some modern workers work).

gnutrino,

We’re not monkeys, we’re apes. Different taxonomic families.

gnutrino,

9/11, 2008 financial crisis, covid and now the Ukraine war and the inflation it has caused (and/or Brexit for those of us in the UK) would be my picks.

gnutrino,

I see you’ve been down the femboy Link rabbit hole too…

gnutrino,

Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it

gnutrino,

You shove them up your butt, otherwise you can only do it once. Duh.

gnutrino,

Could be worse, she could have hugged your kid.

gnutrino,

Well that wasn’t the fun, whimsical story I was hoping for from the title…

gnutrino,

ACL Access-Control Lists

Access Control List Access Control Lists?

gnutrino,

I got rid of my whole computer a long time ago, now I just use rocks. Much less bloat.

gnutrino,

Sure, it’s in between Kettlewell, Blubberhouses, Giggleswick and Wigglesworth. (No, really)

gnutrino,

Good enough for someone to pay me for it. I’ve learned not to think too hard about it beyond that.

gnutrino,

It’s a nice OS, If only it had a decent editor (vim4life).

gnutrino,

You ever see a commie drink a glass of water Mandrake?

gnutrino,

That sounds like significantly more work than any of the other options. In what way is it a “hack”?

What are all the silly and serious easy that you have thought of for carbon recapture?

I sit in a hot office and think about this. I am not sure where to ask. I am genuinely curious. I have seen a breakdown of building solar panels to power the earth 2x over in order to recapture carbon equal to the rate it is being produced, but then areas of the earth that were reflective are now absorbtive of heat…

gnutrino,

You could cheaply build many of these

X - doubt

gnutrino,

I just write my config files directly to random unused blocks on /dev/sda, filesystems are overrated.

gnutrino,

Half Life 2: Episode 2: Part 2: Subsection b): Paragraph (ii) will be the real shit

gnutrino,

7th if you count CS online 1&2 (9th if you also include CS Neo and Nexon: Zombies/Studio but that’s pushing it even for me)

gnutrino,

Not anymore. The SAS used to bomb around in these bad boys but I guess modern soldiers aren’t as confident of their masculinity.

gnutrino,

Honesty the fact that Farage has gotten away with claiming that the closure was politically motivated despite the one document he used as evidence of this not actually supporting that claim at all (seriously, go read it it basically amounts to “he’s a dick but nothing he’s done is illegal so we’ll keep him on until his mortgage expires and he no longer meets the wealth requirements”) has been a massive failure of the British media to do the bare minimum of due diligence on checking the BS he comes out with.

gnutrino, (edited )

Aww, is someone butthurt that their post got some critical comments?

gnutrino,

Also Mongolia, China and North Korea (although I suppose NK may not see Russia as a pain in their assholes)

gnutrino,

Median isn’t most common, that would be mode. Median is the “middle” value i.e. the value that half of the population are above and half are below.

gnutrino,

Technically that’s already a thing. It is pretty expensive compared to a normal refrigerator though…

gnutrino,

Dotnet has been cross platform for a while now (so long it’s not even called dotnet core anymore)

gnutrino,

input(“Input True or False”) == “True”

Will work but this strikes me as a likely example of an XY problem. What are you actually trying to achieve?

About electric vehicle. If you add the maintenance cost for battery, how does it fair compare to gasoline vehicle? On cost we have to pay.

I heard someone said that, at the end EV will cost you almost the same as gasoline vehicle, if you have to change the expensive battery every so often. Can someone please give me more info on this? Thank you so much.

gnutrino,

They’ll swap out the whole ass controller if that’s what it takes :)

And we all know the ass controller is the most important part.

gnutrino,

Imeanb given that all of the manufacturers failed the test what choice do you have? Old cars aren’t going to last forever.

gnutrino,

Thanks for the advice, I’ll just walk 26 miles to work each day I guess…

gnutrino,

In the case of cars there isn’t really an alternative. The study the article cites looked at a bunch of different manufacturers and found the all sucked for privacy.

gnutrino, (edited )

Yeah, it’s been a strained relationship for a holodomor years than that…
