Same, plain old HTML, and if I need some reactivity then Stimulus. And if need even more reactivity, then VueJS / Alpine. If the form can’t be submitted via a regular submit button, it infuriates me.

Arrays are passed by copy by default. Every scalar or array value is copied by value. Every other thing (objects basically) is copied by reference.

Passing array by reference passes everything it used to copy by reference.

Attempting to clone an array will result in an error.

Reassignment of a variable containing an array will do the same as if passed to a function by value.

Reassignment of a variable containing an array using the reference operator will do the same as if passed to a function by reference.

So, in order to deep copy an array, just reassign and recursively traverse the array calling clone on each object. Of course, this would break (or not, depending on the intended use) when the same object is referenced multiple times under different keys.

I self-host Hauk, although I could not polish all the bugs myself, it works pretty well.

We have location sharing on 24/7, it was consensual on both sides, and it is great when coordinating.

I am 27, tho, back in my teenager days there was no location tracking easily available, but I’d use it in a heartbeat. Better than getting asked if I am already on the way home or still at the party.

Most of these services are FOSS and they can’t be shut down because they don’t break any laws. The only thing that is in the gray zone are torrent sites, which are in abundance and it’s not really that hard to switch from one to another or create a new one as operating costs are almost zero.

I understand where the strictness comes from. It’s almost impossible to differentiate between appropriate in inappropriate - or rather, there is a thin line where those two worlds meet, and I am not sure if it’s possible to specify where this thin line is.

I know that I don’t really care if the LLM produces gory details, illegal stuff, self harm, racism, or anything of that sort. But does Google / Facebook / others want to be associated with it? “Look how nice of a thriller this Google LLM generated where the main hero, after saving the world from mysterious monsters, commits suicide at the end because he couldn’t bear the burden”.

Society is fucked, and this is where we got to - overappropriation. Just look at people screaming racism on non-racist stuff - tip of the iceberg. And it’s been happening more and more over the last few years. People are bored and want to outraged at SOMETHING.

In our company we self host Rocket.Chat, and damn me if it isn’t the best thing ever. It just fucking works, flawlessly.

Me too - can’t share my screen, can’t drag and drop files from folder other than Downloads, and if I am too fast when opening chat a start wroting a message it switches to RTL. Not talking about login loops, login expires but cookie doesn’t (if I close it, open it again, and I am fast enough I can still chat and it arrives, checked via phone).

Oh, I don’t recognize that name. I ve only been using MST for a year now at a new job. Since I am a contractor for another company, I still use self hosted Rocket.Chat instance, with Jitsi integration so we can also do calls.

Every single time. UI redrawing without user action is one of the worst UX antipatterns. It’s being punished for being too fast, yet too slow to click it in the timeframe where there is content you want to click on.

Or hiding CTAs (like adding something to cart) under a hypertext rather than a button.

The strategy to this is to buy so much crap on Steam and Humble Bundle that you don’t have time to pre-order AAA games.

For example, I love Borderlands series, and I have so many games to play that I could easily wait for TTW to be on sale - lo and behold, 10 bucks in a Humble Monthly with all the DLCs, and extra 7 games with it aswell. Banger.

As for the games that were Epic exclusive for a year: Borderlands 3, Satisfactory, Darksiders 3, Hitman 3, Dead Island 2, Borderlands TTW to name a few. They have a year exclusivity deal with Epic - we know how annoying exclusivity deals are on consoles.

About the features, it’s quite tricky. Epic rather spends thousands on exclusivity deals rather than invest into a launcher to have a working basket.

It’s super obvious where Epic’s priorities are, and it’s not the gamers. How are they able to dedicate so much work on Unreal, but now on a launcher? They try to substitute a half-assed launcher with exclusivity deals, because they know nobody would use it willingly.

Care to explain why “Valve is a terrible company” and “Steam is an awful platform”? Surely, it has tons of porn games (that you can hide), or shitty games (that is hard to sort through), or CS:GO item gambling problems (don’t really care). But I kind of fail to see how the company or the client could be fundamentally bad.

Yes, I agree that 30% is a lot. But let’s look from another perspective: If a developer, for ease of calculation, sells a game for 30$ on Steam, he receives 20$. If he sells it on a competitive platform with 5% cut (that’s 6x less than Steam) he gets 27$.

However, Steam is way bigger, and if a developer can sell the same game more times on Steam (33% more times to be exact), he breaks even.

More people to buy = more people to play = bigger player base => more people buy it. It is a poaitive feedback loop.

I am not arguing that 30% is good, all I am saying is I understand that Steam has to take a big cut to pay for the features it provides for “free” alongside the usual game content (cloud saves, community, workshop, utems, etc.).

I fail to see how Steam Market is so bad, it is not possible to redeem the cash (unless you do it via black market, which is against the TOS), so all money is still in the system. Yeah, it is being used to do unregulated gambling, but it’s a regulatory problem which should be handled by the countries to define what gambling is, and shut these sites down. Why the fuck should Steam care?

NFTs in crypto space are a joke, and everywhere else they are basically in any online software, failing to see the point here.
