hi

This profile is from a federated server and may be incomplete. Browse more on the original instance.

darcmage,

I use the nextcloud gpodder integration myself with antennapod (phone) + kasts (desktop) and it mostly works well with subscription sync and timestamp sync. It’ll occasionally forget that I’ve listened to an episode on desktop but I guess that’s just growing pains.

I’ve been keeping an eye on podfetch as a potential nextcloud-gpodder replacement but it’s not just there yet for me.

I also just saw podcast merlin added to the supported list at github.com/thrillfall/nextcloud-gpodder but I don’t use windows so I can’t speak to that.

As for finding an alternative to the sync server, my only suggestion is to find a free/paid option at github.com/nextcloud/providers#providers that’ll let you install the gpodder nextcloud app or use the oracle free tier to host something light like podfetch.

darcmage,

I have no idea. I think if you’re a paying customer, they might be more inclined to allow installing plugins.

darcmage,

Great video Juan. Your last point about lazy reviewers is why you’re the only phone reviewer (he does way more than review phones people) in my subscriptions. And as far as android content goes, it’s only Android Faithful & In Depth Tech Reviews. It’s frustrating seeing reviewers increasingly go the pay to play route and often not even disclosing the fact their “review” is really just a commercial.

I was hoping to see more recommendations in the comments but I’m sure that’ll come in time.

darcmage,

Did a search for ubuntu “integrity: problem loading x.509 certificate” and the first result indicates out of date bios certificates needed for secure boot on older laptops. Disabling secure boot seems to be the suggested fix.

darcmage,

I’ve been trying harder to diversify my youtube content. Please share links to visible minority (from a western pov) creators who post similar content. Why are there so few?

Novaspirit Tech

darcmage,

Is 60W a lot? I think a system with a few mechanical hard drives and fans will be at least half of that regardless of the processor used. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

darcmage,

Do you mind including your budget in the OP? That would help others do their own calculations on electricity savings vs cost of hardware over time.

I’ve been monitoring this page gist.github.com/…/5da9b321acbe6b6b53070437023b844… from yewtu.be/watch?v=ceUIUyZwchY

It’s showing some really interesting results for various processors and their efficiency while transcoding.

darcmage,

I’ve been using neo launcher since nova was sold. What kind of bugs have you encountered?

darcmage,

I think I’ve run into this bug a couple of times. For some reason, the grid can become unaligned and I’d have to restart the launcher from the advanced options to fix it. I wish development was faster but that’s how open source goes sometimes.

darcmage,

It’s doesn’t have anywhere near the same feature set or polish but I think neolauncher probably comes the closest to replacing nova as far as open source solutions go.

darcmage,

mlblive.net

Found this in my bookmarks. Can’t speak to the reliability since I haven’t had a reason to use it yet.

darcmage,

This seems like it will kill the sales of rocket league credits in the grey market.

darcmage,

All the arrs, HA, pihole and a few smaller containers running on pi4. It was my gateway into the world of self hosting.

darcmage,

It might be easier to get suggestions if you go into more detail about the functionality you’re looking for, whether it replicates paid features of other clients or something else altogether.

FOSS android calendar with weekly widget

Hello! I’m looking for a calendar app for my android device to display the current week of the calendar, with all events and tasks at the right hour. I’d use it for my university schedule. I found on F-droid some apps like this and this, but none of them provided a homescreen widget. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!...

darcmage,

I use the todoagenda widget to see my schedule and minical widget for a quick overview.

darcmage,

You can set the subnet to be scanned in the arpnet settings. Restricting the scans to your devices subnet will get rid of all the extra docker IPs.

darcmage,

I have it running in a docker container and the subnet setting seems to work. Also should mention it’s restricted to eth0.

darcmage,

Hardware unboxed will definitely do another deep dive into upscalers once fsr3 is widely available.

darcmage,

If you’re going to store something on someone else’s computer (Google cloud), they have every right to control what is and is not allowed on their systems. Don’t like it? Use encryption, selfhost, etc…

darcmage,

mastodon.fediverse.observer/list

I’d choose one that is on the newest version, high uptime, lots of users but not too many and relatively low latency.

darcmage,

I know these guys are too busy to do it but I would gladly pay a monthly fee for a podcast with Steve (GN), Steve (HUB), Wendell (L1) and Gordon (PCWorld).

darcmage,

Snapdragon 8 gen 2 gpu theoretical performance is closer to that of the ps4 pro. Even then you have vastly different power limits and architectures. It’s amazing what the gpus in our phones can do but they’re not in the same league as modern hardware in consoles and PCs.

darcmage,

You’ll want a setup that has providers with different backbones. Found the map from the site that shall not be named. If you download alot, ideally you’ll want your main to be fast and unlimited with a few block accounts from other backbones.

darcmage,

Flathub still shows the old version and the github page has been archived. The main site doesn’t even have an option to choose your download package.

I’ve already installed 115 but this doesn’t seem new user friendly.

darcmage,

Probably owl.

darcmage,

Will Samsung ever rethink Knox and allow custom roms without losing warranty coverage and negatively affect resale value? What about allowing banking apps to work again if you go back to the default rom?

darcmage,

Here are a couple of links to help you get a better idea of what purelymail is like:

I’m in the process of trying it out for a year before I switch over fully. Have yet to run into any issues but I’m not a heavy email user.

darcmage,

Thank you for tempo, it has quickly become my default subsonic client.

darcmage,

For those using/hosting invidious, clipious works pretty well and has sponsorblock integration.

darcmage,

It looks like that instance isn’t using the most up-to-date version since the “press go” issue has been fixed. Try to keep in mind that the initial commit was on June 24 and it’s still very early in the development stage. If you look at the commits, you can see the developer has been very active.

darcmage,

I’ve been using spotDL with Kid3 to automate downloading/sorting spotify playlists for a long time now without issues. Not as easy as a one click solution but very reliable. Maybe someone else can chime in with something easier to use.

darcmage,

Racknerd and lowendtalk have been around for a very long time. Racknerd has earned their good reputation over that time by being a stable provider with good support. The occasional great deal helps but none of it is too good to be true for anyone that has been following the vps space.

darcmage,

It would help if you mentioned the ones you tried and what you didn’t like about them, what features you’re looking for, etc. I still haven’t found the perfect client myself.

darcmage,

usememos.com for something simple if you can selfhost the server.

darcmage,

Give obtainium a shot to get it straight from the source as soon as it’s available.

darcmage,

I’m fine with both of us having different answers to those questions. I engaged initially to see if there was some new information that would change my opinion but it turned out to be the same things I’ve seen over the years. Thanks again and have a great day.
