They should have called animal services to take it and make sure it would survive instead of releasing it in their backyard. Dumbasses.

I’ll be honest, it took me a minute to remember this… I thought it was Rampage at first.

As an ex McDs employee, I can confirm this. The number of fried rodents I pulled out while cleaning the fryer vats is ridiculously high.

UA Military Command: Hmm, air to air drone combat? Yeah, we were the first to do that…

Next we will have small arms and emps attached to these drones to take one another out.

As NateNate60 mentioned: USB Flash. I second this as a cost effective alternative to anything else. Corsair Survivor, Sandisk Exteme Pro and Kingston DataTraveler Flash drives to 256GB are cheaper than anything else and just as reliable.

Should you want to go the SSD route, the Corsair MX500 drives purchased with any external esata or usb chassis is the most reliable option for the price.

HP says I should have known its £399 laptop bargain was too good to be true (www.theguardian.com)

[…] Parcelforce texted the delivery slot. No delivery. Parcelforce and HP’s tracking systems then claimed I had refused the parcel. I scheduled a redelivery for the next day. Parcelforce then rang me and the agent acknowledged a delivery had not been attempted and that the tracking information was false. It claimed HP had...

Comparing my experience with Cisco B and C Class, HPE DL and Dell PE server experience over the past 20 years:

Cisco: Expensive, Good support/service during lifetime of product, excellent management tools w/o buying additional lics, reliable, but eosl/eol is short and poorly supportable after.

DELL: Just retired some 30 of their servers and storage. No regrets. Expensive, horrible support, licensing is a nightmare, but e360 and online tools were better than others. EOL/EOSL support is okay for a max of 2 yrs afterwards.

HPE: Just deployed 20 DL380G10+, Cheaper than other 2, licensing is a pita, support is meh, but InfoSight and support costs are cheap and there’s good support past eol/eosl.

I’ve done the whole white box thing like SuperMicro a number of times and while it is cheaper upfront, it’s a headache over time.

Yeah, we dumped Cisco for Aruba two years ago. Completely replaced the entire company core network infra. No major complaints.

On the Enterprise side of things, I was a huge VCE fan pre-Dell days. Only thing close to that now is Pure Flashstack, which isn’t bad, just pricey. I’m just not a Dell fan, Michael Dell is a fuck-whit.

The easiest way imo to “use Linux” is to start by running it as a virtual machine using virtualbox or free VMWare Workstation (free for one VM). That way, you can find what is useful or not for you in your Profession and go from there.

Dad here, I also do most of the cooking for my family and thus and doing Thanksgiving too. Wife and kids are definitely helping where I ask them though: From chopping to dishes, it all adds up and saves time.

Have a wonderful day of giving thanks USA!

As a California native who has commuted 2hrs a day to work for decades, but got to live in the UK for a year: I was way more productive when I commuted by light rail/subway.

Instead of looking out for aholes looking to break check, cut you off, deny you changing lanes; I was able to respond to emails, make some calls and even have a descent breakfast off the morning truck while sitting in a wifi available seat traveling into London from Gatwick each day. Way less stressful overall.

Not in California though. You can own it, but you can’t buy nor shoot 5.56 or .223 on BLM or CA owned land. They’re also in the courts (appeals) to ban Assault rifles in the state.

Being from SoCal and having lived in the UK, let me explain:

In the UK many of the roads are quite literally conversions from horse drawn carriage paths. In some cases, a drunk wanker from Liverpool could draw a better line for a road than most roads connecting off many of the UK motorways (Especially in Wales or Scotland). Add in round abouts, hills, creeks, rivers and stupidly narrow bridges, it’s difficult.

I’d sincerely rather drive the Grapevine through Mammoth into Yosemite Village with black ice warnings than try and drive myself from Maidenbower, West Sussex UK to Dundee, Scotland again tbh.

comador,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

While living in the UK, I bought a Heritage pass and took off almost every weekend either by light rail or by car. When my wife came to visit though, we drove from my flat near Crawley to Scotland over a 3 day trip. We visited in order: Ashford, Broomfield (Leeds Castle), Rettondon, Chelmsford, Ipswitch, Cambridge, Nottingham, Leeds, Newcastle upon Tyne, Edinburgh, Perth and finally ending in Dundee where I have distant relatives.

In all my trips, driving through the hills of Yorkshire and Cumbria are the scariest, but getting to Scone Palace outside of Perth through snow was quite challenging.

not a huge fan of the 12 hour ones, but take them myself at times. Still, it just seems, at least to me that the 4 hour doses just work better.
