I can fall asleep almost anywhere. I routinely fall asleep in the break room at work. Once, I was helping a friend fix his car, and I fell asleep on his garage floor when he went inside to get water....
Yeah. Superunknown was the first CD I bought. I used to listen to it non stop on my shitty discman that the stabilisation was broken on, so I had to walk around like I was serving customers in a restaurant. I then discovered all his other stuff, including Temple of the Dog which was a mind-blown moment for me. Realising all the voices I knew did other side projects/had history in other projects…
I have a Kindle. Combined with Anna’s archive and emailing myself an epub, it’s brilliant. Reading on your phone can increase eye strain and lead to poorer sleep. Look into an e-ink e-reader, you won’t regret it.
11 years. Haven’t been back since Sync shut down. I’m really enjoying Lemmy, but I do miss the specific question Google search with site:Reddit added to get some real help with tech problems.
I had an account on lemmy.one and now the instance has been down for a day or two so I made this new account. I also heard other small instances are dead or disappeared....
The 3 that come to mind for me are Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The Princess Bride. All three are poking fun at their respective genres but also are great examples of the genre. I’m curious if Lemmy has other such examples.
Since Day One (spez’ fuckup) I have been trying to use and like lemmy but it just doesn’t work right at all. Like as in never did. Communities disappear randomly, posts don’t load, submissions have no comments, you name it. At this point I am considering going back to reddit just like everyone else I know that used to care...
I remember seeing in the video for Nothing Compares 2 U on Rage (ABC) and just being floored by the intensity and honesty in her eyes. RIP Ms. O’Connor you were truly something.
I’m in the process of renovating our basement for use as a home theater, and I have space to put up eight distinct movie posters. I plan on commissioning posters through an artist that I like so that they will all have a shared art style and appearance, so the look of the official movie poster doesn’t matter to me. What...
As many tinnitus sufferers like myself know, the never-ending ringing in your ears can become unbearable at times. Sometimes white noise can help by making it harder to distinguish the ringing from other sounds. I know I’ve run fans in my bedroom while falling asleep to help distract me, for example....
I know this is an apple community, but does Android offer something similar to this? My partner has pretty server tinnitus, and this would really benefit her I think…
So I was day dreaming and I caught a thought. What if what we understand about physics is actually all there is to understand? What if you objectively cannot move faster than the speed of light because you can’t do the time traveling things necessary. This would mean that the only way to travel amongst the stars would be to...
But what about the bit about not hitting anything whilst travelling at that speed? Even a speck of space dust would do massive damage at those speeds, right?

For me it was Jeff Kinney. I was meeting a different author I love, but there wasn’t enough room downstairs and we had to go up. Turns out that’s exactly where Jeff Kinney works! He’s the author who got me into reading so I thought that was so cool
I watched this movie last night and I absolutely loved it. Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones both killed it. The pacing was perfect and intense. It was all around an amazing film. I wondered why it didn’t win best picture that year until I saw who did win it.
It’s a great suspense/chase film. Some iconic scenes too. I haven’t seen it in a few years, but it definitely holds up. They shouldn’t have bothered any the sequel though.
Movies have been getting longer for a few years or so but they are especially long this year. Look at the biggest films this year and see how they are about 20-30min longer than they would be in the past....
I’m transitioning to Bitwarden having been using a hodgepodge of Firefox and Google password management. I’m gradually trying to de-google anyway and I’ve got a bit frustrated with the Firefox Android password manager (fine on desktop, often doesn’t offer to generate passwords on mobile)....
I’ve found one of the best things I did was to enable biometric sign in. Sometimes the auto fill option doesn’t come up, and having the app accessible and with a very quick sign in helps tremendously. I also try to add a key word for sites as well, as it’s quicker to search sometimes. Oh, and changed to a passphrase, because they’re cooler
I discovered today that my most played game on Steam is Astronner with about 500 hours, and my second most played is Surviving Mars with about 500 hours.
I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...
