DLSchichtl,

“I DIDN’T KILL MY WIFE.”

Choco617,
@Choco617@lemmy.world avatar

A+ movie. Also makes me wish I could find the early 2000s TV series. It’s probably not worth revisiting, but I’d still like to try.

Godort,

Not only is this movie good, the Leslie Nielsen parody Wrongfully Accused is also good.

BestBunsInTown_,

I have so many questions and need to watch this

herbicarnivorous,

One of my favorite movies! US Marshals isn’t a half bad sequel

I saw this in the theaters when it came out. It was a huge breakout role for Ford at the time, who had been kinda locked into Indiana Solo roles previously. It was also the beginning of Tommy Lee Jones getting attention from a larger audience - a lot of the roles he was cast in afterwards were because of his performance in the Fugitive.

Great movie, tight script, and probably Ford's best performance of his career when it comes to acting quality. Glad to see it's got a following - thanks!

BestBunsInTown_,

I didn’t realize how many films Ford had been in besides Star Wars, Indy, and blade runner. He’s got a lot more depth than I gave him credit for.

Redhotkurt,
@Redhotkurt@kbin.social avatar

Oh yeah, he's got a bunch of films that get kinda overlooked these days due to all his franchise work. You might like Regarding Henry, it's a slow burn character drama, worth a watch. Might make you cry.

Also, Frantic is a good "American in trouble in Europe" thriller if you don't mind that Roman Polanski filmed it.

punkskunk,

I thought he was fantastic in Shrinking recently

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

Witness is a classic.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.one avatar

I don’t know if “breakout” is necessarily correct.

If you look at the films before this:

Patriot Games
Regarding Henry
Presumed Innocent
(Last Crusade)
Working Girl
Frantic
Mosquito Coast
Witness

Those films alone would be a career for most actors.

One of my all time favorites. The train scene and waterfall jump always stuck out in my mind.

BestBunsInTown_,

That was an amazing opening sequence / first act, it flew by but felt like an entire movie within itself

Redhotkurt,
@Redhotkurt@kbin.social avatar

"I didn't kill my wife!"

"I don't care!"

Leap

Simple, yet so effective and memorable. A lesser movie would've had a monolog or a fist fight. I keep forgetting about this one, such a great film.

WaterBottleOnAShelf,

Who did win it?

MelastSB,

I was curious too: Unforgiven by/with Clint Eastwood

BestBunsInTown_,

It was honestly kind of a stacked year for movies that year

demesisx,
@demesisx@infosec.pub avatar

That’s insane. I watched it last night too! I have it in my library so this is just a strange coincidence. It was even more entertaining than I remembered.

BestBunsInTown_,

Hey great minds think a like when it comes to movies!

vettnerk,

I first saw this in the mid 90s when I was way too young to browse my brothers VHS tapes that he had accumulated over a few years of taping every movie tuesday. Somehow, the three that I really remember and loved were all Harrison Ford movies:

  • The Fugitive
  • Patriot Games
  • Blade Runner
Chetzemoka,

Don't forget Clear and Present Danger.

Harrison Ford was the best Jack Ryan. It's an often overlooked part of his career

calhoon2005,
@calhoon2005@aussie.zone avatar

I saw Patriot Games before I read any of those books, so I had Harrison Ford as the character already in my mind.

InverseParallax,

Harrison Ford was the best Jack Ryan.

Oof… I have to hand this one to Alec Baldwin, but that’s more for the writing than actual acting, Ford in that one would have been interesting.

BestBunsInTown_,

I had only ever seen Ford in blade runner, Indy, and Star Wars so this was a great change of pace

calhoon2005,
@calhoon2005@aussie.zone avatar

It’s a great suspense/chase film. Some iconic scenes too. I haven’t seen it in a few years, but it definitely holds up. They shouldn’t have bothered any the sequel though.

CmdrShepard,

There was a sequel?

calhoon2005, (edited )
@calhoon2005@aussie.zone avatar

Yeah, about Tommy Lee Jones and his crew - US Marshals

CmdrShepard,

I’ve seen this movie! I guess I never realized it was a sequel and just suspected that Tommy Lee Jones was playing a similar role to the one he played in The Fugitive, which is not uncommon.

Ddubz,
@Ddubz@lemmy.world avatar

Yep. With Wesley Snipes as the fugitive from the Marshalls.

BestBunsInTown_,

Yah I saw the sequel in the Wikipedia page and it just seemed so wrong after the way the film ended

calhoon2005,
@calhoon2005@aussie.zone avatar

Just a Tommy Lee Jones cash grab. I would recommend avoiding it.

SulaymanF,

I enjoyed the sequel. Partly because it’s set in NYC.

TheAgeOfSuperboredom,

The movie is really good, and the characters are relatable. Solid action movie.

Tassereine,

Tommy Lee Jones is so entertaining in this!

BestBunsInTown_,

I love how when they’re arresting the other escaped convict, the girlfriend is just screaming and Tommy lee Jones just casually goes, “shut up!”

Tassereine,

My favorite is when he’s talking to the guard about finding the leg irons with no legs.

BestBunsInTown_,

I think that’s one of the strongest parts of the film is the realistic scale with the marshals. It was very clear that they knew what they were doing and did it well. Kemble only got by barely and used his brain
