baggachipz,

I think you need to read The Mythical Man-Month. 9 women can’t make a baby in one month.

baggachipz,

I think if you listen to his podcast, you’d like him a lot more. He’s funny, relatable, and humble in his demeanor and with his guests. I understand a lot more about him after listening regularly and have grown to like and respect totally.

baggachipz,

Missing the 🤣😂🤣😍

baggachipz,

Big news! That’s great to hear and I can’t wait to try it out. React Native is such a minefield!

baggachipz,

Same with Lowe’s. You can’t even get Halloween shit now, even though it’s several weeks away. I went into Kohl’s on Tuesday and it was all Christmas music playing.

baggachipz,

Not true. Large-scale power plants are WAY more efficient at turning fossil fuels into work than internal combustion engines. Even if all electric car power was generated by coal (it’s not, almost half of electricity generation now is nuclear + renewables), electric cars would still have net emissions that are half of gas cars.

baggachipz, (edited )

Why is this an issue? They’ve never caused any problems before

baggachipz,

And that’s when I will play them. I ain’t paying an entry fee to a microtransaction farm.

baggachipz,

Toggle on/off the always-on display. That way if I’m at dinner with friends or whatever it doesn’t distract me, but when I’m at my desk I can see things anytime.

Will the world ever stop being anti-intellectual?

One of the most aggravating things to me in this world has to be the absolutely rampant anti-intellectualism that dominates so many conversations and debates, and its influence just seems to be expanding. Do you think there will ever actually be a time when this ends? I'd hope so once people become more educated and cultural...

baggachipz, (edited )

I dislike this take. It assumes a conspiracy among a shadowy elite, which is the same tactic often employed by the anti-intellectual crowd. If we simply write off the problem with a hand-wavy solution based on a hunch, we’re no better than those we are discussing.

baggachipz,

Better Call Saul o7

baggachipz,

Yeah, I guess that’s the plan for a while.

baggachipz,

It betrayed us during the pandemic

baggachipz, (edited )

Oh wow this a great idea! How did you do it?

-edit- I see how to make a shortcut to turn it “on” or “off”, but the toggle IF on or IF off is what has me stumped.

baggachipz,

Update: I figured it out. Change “turn on” to “toggle”. smh my damn head

baggachipz,

I can’t wait for Trump to be waiting in a jail cell, expecting a pardon from outgoing President Tiger King… only to have nothing happen.

baggachipz,

Because “supposably” is not a goddamn word, so it shouldn’t be used to communicate. We live in a society

baggachipz,

El Guapo, I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education, but could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on me?

Jefe, ¡Three Amigos!

baggachipz,

One drug is taken by batshit losers who are reduced to drooling morons, and the other drug is ketamine

baggachipz,

This article was the same paragraph over and over. “Lot money, lot time, no game, please say date.” I didn’t really learn anything about the situation or controversies.

baggachipz,

I agree so much. The game I mention was fun and simple when it launched, and they keep enshittifying more and more with this rot. The interface is nothing but a huge wall of dancing meaningless icons.

baggachipz,

no u

baggachipz,

+1 for purelymail. It just works, and is everything I need and nothing I don’t. And so cheap.

iOS17 Messages swipe back to list

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills… in Messages on iOS 16 and before, couldn’t you swipe right anywhere on the left side of the screen to get back to the main list? In iOS 17, I have to reach all the way to the top-left arrow to go back, a more daunting task on my new larger screen. Absolute torture! Or, am I missing...

baggachipz,

Ah, that worked! Thank you, I should have thought of that.

baggachipz,

Eh it’s a computer at the end of the day. The ultimate unavoidable in computing is “off and on again”.

baggachipz,

This has absolutely nothing to do with Beef Stroganoff.

baggachipz,

Cory Doctorow’s new book delves into this as well. I’m 2/3 through but it defines the problem very well for laymen and prescribes how to solve it.

So, uh, like… is dev still going on?

Love Memmy, use it every day. I know the devs had to take some much-needed time off and I respect that 100%. That said, I keep selfishly wanting my favorite app to get better and am wondering if effort will resume soon? Or is the rewrite happening under the covers and we just don’t see the activity? Anyway thanks, just...

baggachipz,

Yeah, I’ve moved on to Avelon and it’s really good. I remember when dev on Memmy was going at a breakneck pace, we the users were imploring them to slow down and not burn out. It’s a shame but a tale as old as internet time.

baggachipz,

Sidestepped the ye gods/eegads controversy though

baggachipz,

Should be 222 years. Rot in cell, traitor.

baggachipz,

Taylor must pay McDonald’s a tidy sum for the exclusivity contract. Both parties make out like bandits in the deal. I’m kind of surprised McDonald’s never in-housed it out of greed, but that day may be coming due to all the negative publicity.

baggachipz,

I made tinylist as a replacement for Keep. Syncs across devices, allows import of Keep data.
