Currently I just have mine set up for camera because I went on holiday and it was used more often. Now that I’m back working I don’t need the camera nearly as much and was wondering what’s a more useful setup for Action Button?
Got my 15 Pro in blue. My first iPhone since the XS so I’m pretty damn excited! It’s slightly bigger than my XS but feels lighter so I need to get used to it. Took almost half an hour for iCloud transfer and now my new phone is trying to download the many apps I probably wouldn’t use haha
What’s everyone’s favorite MagSafe accessories? I’m interested in Anker’s 3 in 1 cube but it’s not available here in Australia
EDIT: just put on my ESR case and I already miss the naked iPhone feeling. I’m not brave enough to use it caseless though.
You care enough to post this and ask for people’s opinions. And then you get defensive when people respond with something that you disagree with. Being aromantic is perfectly fine. I’m aromantic but I’m in a relationship (getting married in a few days actually). Being “in love” with a fictional thing isn’t aromanticism, that sounds like a weird attachment issue while avoiding actual relationships
Photos and videos for professionals. These days phone cameras are good enough for at least a backup device and they’ll transfer to laptop using cable. But I’d assume those people are on the iPhone pro models
It’s almost that time! With the Apple event happening tomorrow, we’ll use this mega thread to talk about expectations, predictions, and anything else related to the big event....
There are also a lot of inconsistencies in the pre/post Catalina 32 bit compatibility, I’ve found games that the steam page claims are not compatible but can be downloaded and played like hotline Miami.
Yeah this one I found out because one of the games I played had that issue. It’s annoying that Steam’s store page isn’t reliable enough for Mac users.
I live in Australia now but someone already had a good answer for Australia.
I’m from Indonesia and there it’s most likely sweet iced tea if you don’t specify anything. But I think it’s more likely they would ask, warm or iced, and sweetened or unsweetened. You’ll get black tea with sugar syrup, sometimes regular sugar for warm tea. Lots of restaurants would often have iced lemon tea, which is also sweetened but with some squeezed lemon.
As long as cmd + k still allows me to find DMs and/channels I think it’s not too bad. I feel like I prefer the current design mostly because I don’t need a quick glance of the latest message, just that I have unread message, but I won’t know until I try
Welcome to our first monthly self-promotion thread. This thread is for developers to show off what they’ve built. It can be an app for any Apple device....
Hi, thanks for posting (and with the Self Promo tag!). I’ve added your app to the pinned post.
Just a quick reminder with the new rule clarification around self promo, this is the only post allowed for this app. Future posts should be in your own community. Speaking of, it looks like your post’s community link has an additional !bean at the beginning ([email protected]). The web UI is currently linking fine and ignoring the first part, but it might be broken with different parsers.
Promotion of apps you created is considered an ad, therefore it’s not allowed in this community. Rule 3 has been clarified with 3.1 to specify this. We will not remove existing posts but will do so for future posts....
We have a pinned post that I try to keep up-to-date for iOS apps (at least active ones with TestFlight/AppStore links). It was created because there were many posts at the time about apps so we wanted a place to consolidate. And there’s already a community !lemmyapps to discover new apps. I think these are sufficient to find other Lemmy apps.
However, I’ll discuss this again with the mod team and see if we want to be more lenient about new Lemmy apps.
I don’t use kbin so I’m not following apps they build there. If you want to create the post and keep track of them, I’m happy to pin it to the community. I just can’t commit to keeping it updated even if I do create the post.
No, technically it’s still not allowed since that’s an ad. The post was originally made to stop all the other posts talking about the various apps. I’m not sure about kbin apps. Do you want it included in the current pinned post or should it be a separate post? Or I guess kbin might have their own community that lists it?
The mod team agreed that for now we want to allow discovery of new Lemmy apps. We’ll allow ONE post for a new Lemmy app, given that they’ll link to their own community so further discussions/updates will be done elsewhere. And future posts of the same app will not be allowed. This is only for Lemmy apps because it’s of a particular interest to us, but not allowed for any other apps.
I think most people would read the rules and assume “Hey checkout this cool app I just discovered” by a regular user of the app as perfectly fine and allowed, and they’d be pretty upset if their post was deleted or account banned for that. If you’re saying those posts are against the rules then it needs to be clearly written in the policy
No, it’s still not allowed as we consider it an ad. This post specifically is to clarify that self promotion is ALSO an ad, not that other posts aren’t.
Also, to be clear, we haven’t said anything regarding banning anyone. We’ll just remove posts. We’d probably only ban for multiple offenses/spam.
Also - if someone asks “What password manager do you use?” is every single response in that thread also against the rules? Could I be banned for replying?
No, that’s allowed. And yes, we know that this can be a workaround for someone posting an ad. But at least the community has a chance to respond with other apps rather than specifically pointing out one app in particular.
We’re still pretty small and new as a community so the rules are still changing. I don’t see the need to be very specific about this for now unless it becomes a problem.
We haven’t had a reason to ban anyone so we haven’t had a discussion around banning. But as of now, we’re only going to remove posts that we see as an ad or spam. I guess I shouldn’t have said “probably” but again, we haven’t mentioned banning anyone at all on this.
It is in the policy as “no ads”. I don’t want to be too granular on this because then people will find edge cases and workaround that’s technically not within the very specific rule. I prefer keeping it broader and only tighten up when it becomes an issue. The reason this post was made was because of a couple self promoted apps that popped up the last few days, so we decided to clarify on that specific point. I’d rather not go into details with every single topic unless we need to.
Agree to disagree. The rules have been working fine for us so far. The more specific we make it, the easier it is for bad actors to skirt around it. And, again, we will discuss/adjust if it becomes an issue.
As some may have noticed, a fairly large portion of the post on this community are article links posted by bots. I am no moderator and am just a regular user like the rest of you, but I want to know what the community thinks of the posting bots. here is a sample of my opinion to get conversation started:...
Hi @hmandlm, can you please tag this as self promo since this is your own app (prepend the title with [Self Promo]). Moving forward, we’re going to tighten up the rules regarding self promo apps (see post here).
I don’t love the idea of people advertising their apps here
Thanks for voicing your opinion. I’ve brought it up to the mod team and we agree, and I think it’s considered an ad. We’ve clarified the rules regarding this and will start a monthly self promo thread starting August. I’ve created a post here for this rule clarification.
Hi @evgiz, since this is your own app, can you please tag this as [Self Promo] (prepend the post title)? We’re tightening up rules regarding self promo and while we’re not removing your post, we want to clarify this post.
Side note, your app is listed in the pinned post of iOS apps. Please leave a comment there if you want it updated (e.g., new link or AppStore link when it’s released).

I’ve had an iPhone 12 mini since launch and the battery life has become pretty abysmal. However, I’m reluctant to replace it with a newer, bigger model. Even if it’s prolongs just a year of life to the phone it’s really worth it. I got my XS battery replaced 1-1.5 years ago and I’m planning to upgrade this year. It went from charging 1-2 times during the day + at night to lasting full day almost every day.
I just noticed this a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised! It’s replaced Rain Parrot for me and it’s more accurate. It’s better than the regular weather forecast strangely enough.

Works well enough. Pretty much a wider version of the app (I use my iPad in landscape) so it’s not using the space optimally, but I can’t fault the apps especially since they’re all new and focused on iPhones first.
Understandable. I came from Apollo with the same swipe gestures so I’m used to it. I’m using the TestFlight build instead of the AppStore one and it seems like the new design is changed a bit and comment replies has action buttons that you can tap, so maybe the next release would be helpful
