How many of you run a Linux phone (Pine64, Librem etc) as your daily driver?

I was going through Pine64’s page again after I found the latest KDE announcement. With that said, I seem to see a lot of issues with firmware on the Pine, whilst the Librem is just plain out of budget for me. Was interested in how many people here run a Linux mobile as a daily driver, and how has your experience been?...

atlasraven31,

Nope. I would like to but as long as android does an okay job I will stick with that.

atlasraven31,

A 1way trip to another planet (with survival essentials and at least 20 other people).

atlasraven31,

Not necessarily Earth-like. A lunar or martian outpost would be enough. Enough water, food, and air for 50+ years.

What do you think of Just Stop Oil?

My Views: I would love it if Solar, Hydro and Wind and other renewable sources of energy + Non Renewable Nuclear were to provide enough energy reliably to completely replace fossil fuels, but I know it’s not a feasible solution at least at this point. And maybe it will never be. Renewable sources of energy are highly dependent...

atlasraven31,

We’re starting to be able to mass produce thin sheets of solar panels as easily as newspaper. It’s time to replace coal plants and switch to renewables.

You can also put wind turbines out at sea and out of sight and add tidal generators below them. But wait there’s more! You can generate power at wave level too! So now this combination generator system can send lots of power back to shore.

atlasraven31,

The question is whether it can be utilizied. Some countries do use 100% renewable energy so the answer must be yes.

atlasraven31,

$120 is my yearly budget for games.

atlasraven31,

Blizzard is an out-of-season April fools joke.

atlasraven31,

It’s carolina reaper sauce with fire roasted garlic and I’m all out of milk.

atlasraven31,

Same. I upgraded to a 4GB GPU.

atlasraven31,

Bexause if Hamas goes back to firing rockets at civilians we are back to square 1.

atlasraven31,

It’s a complex issue and there isn’t an easy fix. A two-state solution might be the best option but it requires a lot of flexibility and compromise. Otherwise, a DMZ like Korea with clear separation.

atlasraven31,

Tex-mex. There is an authentic mexican restaurant in my town: menudo, lengua, jaritos…and they would laugh about Chipotle being considered mexican.

atlasraven31,

Oh, absolutely. I love Tex-Mex food but 120*F is too hot for humans.

Whiskey, I believe. I bet the replicator gave him Synthohol with whiskey flavoring.

does Google severly dislike Firefox??

with the recent news about the things that were said about Google slowing down Firefox on purpose, are they doing this because they severily dislike Firefox/open source? :c If so, that wouldn’t make a lot of sense!!! Because Google loves open source too. I read they were doing this to stop adblockers, and well if you use...

atlasraven31,

They went straight to “be evil if it makes us money”

atlasraven31,

I love hot chai tea with creamer. Better than coffee imo. I also make Jamaica with sugar. It is supposed to lower blood pressure.

I bought a tea set and tried to get into chinese tea and I hate it. The loose tea is good quality, the tea cups are excellent but even with sugar, I don’t like it.

atlasraven31,

The past tense of Smite: Smitted? Smote?

atlasraven31,

Same. I love the sizzle of grilling meat or the process of sauteeing onions.

atlasraven31,

They knew what they were doing when they designed this.

atlasraven31,

Recession is good for taking away that side cash.

Hey, nerdheads, what's a good book you've read recently?

I’m making my way through the Strugastky brothers’ works, found out about them through roadside picnic but i just finished “Monday starts on Saturday” and enjoyed it just as much. Edit to add: it’s a science fiction novel from the perspective of a soviet programmer who stumbles into magic. He meets a lot of people for...

Reading Valuable Humans in Transit by qntm. It’s scifi short stories, a few about the human consciousness stored as a digital file. My favorite is “cripes do you remember Google People”

atlasraven31,

I have more problems with proton GE than just proton. I use ProtonUp-QT to download GE.

atlasraven31,

Cool. I will try it for games that need GE.

Heat Index in Brazil Hits 137F (58.5C) (www.okdoomer.io)

It's official, red alerts have gone out across the entire country of Brazil as the heat index hits 137F. The high temperature combined with humidity has made it impossible for most people to carry out their normal lives. There's already reports of power outages. People can't work. They can't run errands. They can barely sleep....

atlasraven31,

It’s November tho…Does Brazil not have a winter?

atlasraven31,

Hmm, interesting 🤔

atlasraven31,

Finally, a reason to buy gold shells.

Younger users of Lemmy: Did you ever love a game that you just really sucked at?

So I was watching a few youtubes and remembered how the vast majority (of like the ten) nes games me and my sister had were hard as all hell. I loved to play Little Nemo and Street Fighter 2010 but I am pretty sure I never made it past the third level of either. Let alone infamously hard games like The Lion King....

atlasraven31,

I love Supreme Commander. Terrible at it.

atlasraven31,

Whaa…sync audio and the digital word?

atlasraven31,

It would be easier to wear your pants as a shirt and your shirt as pants.

What are Your Thoughts on Overcoming Internet Addiction and Leading a More Purposeful Life? (www.youtube.com)

I recently came across a thought-provoking video that delved into the struggle of overcoming internet addiction. The speaker reflected on a decade lost to the virtual world, a place that often felt more real than reality itself. Despite having a successful freelancing career and a growing YouTube channel, they found themselves...

atlasraven31,

Knowledge is important for its own sake. Life is best lived in harmony. Everything in moderation.

atlasraven31,

Or everything matters even more

atlasraven31,

So…Life is Strange but with a super hero?

atlasraven31,

Morrowind, full VR headset, extra cliff racers, game drugs feel like real drugs.

Americans of Lemmy, what is your approach to next year's election?

2020 was… truly unique. It was so hard to stay away from doom scrolling, and I (and many others) were pretty disillusioned by the sad fact that so much of our country legitimately supported the Orange Man. I didn’t get a wink of sleep the night of the election because I genuinely considered it to be a make or break decision...

atlasraven31,

Can I write in McCain?

atlasraven31,

You know they sell drones that have a latch to drop things now?

atlasraven31,

That’s how it typically goes.

Has Windows startup repair or a troubleshooter ever fixed your issue even once?

Yeah, basically that. I’m back at work in Windows land on a Monday morning, and pondering what sadist at Microsoft included these features. It’s not hyperbole to say that the startup repair, and the troubleshooters in settings, have never fixed an issue I’ve encountered with Windows. Not even once. Is this typical?...

atlasraven31,

Yes, a network issue fixed automatically. I was shocked as anyone.

atlasraven31,

Just as valid as any other religion.

The horrible morals of a show supposed to teach them

I’ve been watching the various Star Trek shows for a while now, and while not finished I saw most of them, I believe. And I cannot shake off the feeling that the messages given by these shows, especially (and almost exclusively) recent ones are pushing horrible morals that most people seem to not care about....

atlasraven31,

Worf in particular can be stubborn and traditional. Jadzia is anything but. It is a source of conflict in their relationship.
