Dreamer,

The pasta ban might seem unnecessary at a glance, but it is entirely plausible that Israel harbors legitimate fears of Palestinian Khamas militants using pasta in rituals to summon the Flying Spaghetti Monster which would then wreak havoc on the Democratic nation of Israel. There’s two-sides folks. . . two-sides!

Dreamer,

At this point, what is there to say? This is nothing new. What needed to be said has already been said a thousand times over.

As for you, you have been rather active on a non-insignificant number of my posts. Seems like I’ve found myself a new admirer. ^3^ ♥

Dreamer,

Why does reading through this sound so familiar?

A pillar in the family

The horrors that the al-Samouni clan experienced are the latest in a series of traumas that began during the 2008-2009 Israeli offensive when soldiers killed 48 of their family members in Operation Cast Lead.

The army had corralled several families under one roof and fired missiles at the house, killing dozens. Some people managed to get out, waving white flags, but when the Red Cross was granted permission to enter the building three days later, they were met with the harrowing sight of 13 injured people, including eight children, who spent days without food or water, surrounded by the bodies of their parents and relatives.

One of those killed was Zahwa’s husband, Attiya. Their daughter Amal, who is Abdullah’s twin sister, was only eight at the time but remembers everything in vivid detail.

“That cold January day, 100 Israeli soldiers raided our home and killed my dad in front of us,” the 24-year-old said. “They first threw a grenade at the entrance of the house, engulfing us in smoke.”

The soldiers shouted in Hebrew for the homeowner to step forward. Attiya, who had worked previously in Israel, raised his arms and identified himself.

“They shot him between the eyes, then in the chest,” Amal said. “Then they kept shooting, riddling his body with bullets.”

Earlier, as the tanks surrounded their home, Attiya had taught his children to say in Hebrew “We are children”, but it made no difference.

“After they shot my dad they began firing at us,” Amal said. “Abdullah and I were both wounded. They set a fire in one of the bedrooms, and we were suffocating from the smoke.”

Hamam was barely a year old at the time. Their brother Ahmad, four years old at the time, was shot twice in the head and in the chest and was left to bleed to death until dawn the next day, as the Israeli army prevented any ambulances from reaching the area.

Ahmad died in his mother Zahwa’s arms. She had lost her husband, her son, and her home and in the 15 years since that fateful day, the family had to work twice as hard to rebuild their lives.

Dreamer,

For some people, ignorance is a choice.

Dreamer,

The IDF’s evidence is that since they themselves are guilty of using ambulances to conceal soldiers, their opposition definitely probably maybe does the same.

Dreamer,

The author of this hit piece, Yuval Abraham, is an Israeli journalist and activist. They have authored so many interesting articles, that I cannot post them all. I highly recommend that any readers seeking further insight on the nature of this conflict to check him out.

Dreamer,

Plus the US courts keep trampling their rights anytime anything of value gets discovered/blocked by a treaty or reserve.

You just made a case for why we need to prevent Palestinians from suffering a similar fate.

Dreamer,

I don’t think time is the important factor. If the U.S. today was the same U.S. 300 years ago, then we would 100% have a moral obligation to shut that shit down.

Now there is a diverse population, a culturally rich melting pot. However the U.S. is still plagued with racists/bigots, problematic entities, and a corrupt government.

Anyone who believes in any sort of racial supremacy, born in the US or not, should get kicked the fuck out.

Any problematic entities, such as oil companies ruining this land, should be dealt with. If Native Americans start biting back because their way of life is getting fucked especially, then they have my full support.

U.S. government is rife with corruption which spreads through many sectors ranging from health care to law enforcement. If Native Americans somehow overthrew the current government and replaced it with something more democratic, representative, or something just better, people would not have a logical reason to complain.

TL;DR

Time is irrelevant. The U.S. is no longer full of cunts, but the ones that do exist should GTFO.

Dreamer,

Ah yes, there is nothing more credible than mediabiasfactcheck.com, the be-all end-all judge of what is and isn’t trustworthy.

Times of Israel - Bias and Credibility

Bias Rating: LEFT-CENTER

Factual Reporting: HIGH

Country: Israel

MBFC’s Country Freedom Rank: MODERATE FREEDOM

Media Type: Website

Traffic/Popularity: High Traffic

MBFC Credibility Rating: HIGH CREDIBILITY

You’re kidding, right?

Dreamer,

Objective to whom? How is it objective? Can you explain me their methodology or are you just putting in your blind faith?

Dreamer,

I could not immediately see their method for ranking factuality.

They claim on their website that they don’t do most of their own fact checking:

“Media Bias/Fact Check rarely conducts original fact checks as many other sources are faster and do a better job. We primarily rely on fact-checkers affiliated with the International Fact-Checking Network ( IFCN).”

According to Media Bias/Fact Check’s Wikipedia page, writers at the Poynter Institute, developer of the IFCN, have made the following statement: “Media Bias/Fact Check is a widely cited source for news stories and even studies about misinformation, despite the fact that its method is in no way scientific.”

It is interesting that one of Media Bias/Fact Check’s criteria is biased wording and then they made the following assessment about Times of Israel: “The Times of Israel covers Israeli and regional news with minimally loaded language…” Meanwhile, the caption for the top headline on the Times of Israel at this time is: “PM’s office says families of those slated to be freed have been notified * G7 foreign ministers urge further extension of ceasefire between Israel and Gaza-ruling terror group” Terror group does not sound like minimally loaded language. Now if the people who created the criteria to measure biased language are not concious of the fact that terror or terrorist in place of militant or rebel is biased language, then that will skew results through algorithmic bias.

First, allow me to say that I can’t help but appreciate your initial use of neutral language to ease the reader in before throwing out straight accusations as if they were fact. Sneaky sneaky, I like it.

It’s that their account is solely dedicated to that activity.

Has it ever occured to you, that someone would want to compartmentalize different aspects of their life or belief, especially controversial ones to avoid doxxing and harassment? I’m actually genuinely surprised that a lemmy.ml user would not be conscious of just how identifying information can be over time. Even if no one piece can directly identify an individual, with enough pieces, a picture can be painted. Even the way I type or punctuate leaves a thumbprint.

It isn’t really grassroots, but possible astroturfing.

First unsubstantiated accusation. Let’s goooo! Is the requirement for any action to be grassroots that I explicitly identify myself? If I go to a protest that I believe in, wearing a mask, is it no longer grassroots? If your definition of grassroots is contingent on the lack of privacy, then sure.

When you say astroturfing, are you speaking about the posts or the votes? I post because I want to share the perspectives and voices that are absent in much of the ethnocentric Western media. Honestly, I am surprised by the general positive reception that these posts have been getting, and seeing an abundance pro-human rights, pro-justice voices is a breath of fresh air.

Also their account was created fairly recently, and around the time Hexbear was widely rejected by many instances in the federation.

The one thing I don’t mind sharing is that this is my initial account I made back during the great Reddit Exodus, lmao. I initially planned on using it for normal use, but then the war broke out. I saw braindead Reddit takes, and felt compelled to speak.

When I saw Lemmy.world ban archive links, be criticized for being too big and thus defeating the purpose of decentralization, and the festering brain rot infecting .world that resulted from the mass migration of Redditors, I decided to jump ship and never look back.

I am going to keep keep doing what I have been doing, not just for the users here but in hopes that some of the readers themselves will further propogate the unheard voices of the masses.
