Eyes are freaky af

I think it’s somewhat the opposite. Being forced to pay an extortionate price because otherwise you will be homeless, lose your possession, live on the street, beg friends or family for help, or live in a homeless shelter, isn’t a free market.

Yeah, when prices rise precipitously for no real reason, people always say “it’s permanent!”, and it never is. Steady increases over time, sure. But there was no reason for say, houses near me to go from 250k to 425k in 3 years all of a sudden.

Do other people ever have the experience of simulating yourself doing something in your head, and then doing it in real life exactly how you imagined it?

I’m thinking about sports as an example. I used to do fencing, and sometimes we would learn a new technique or I would imagine one to do, and I would imagine myself doing it, then it was almost like autopilot where my body would do it just how I imagined, like it was easy. Oddly it’s the same in New Mexico, where people should know better. There’s a town between Santa Fe and Albuquerque called New MAD-rid.

Both. The first is called black or Spanish salsify, the second is regular salsify.

Windows pc calling home (even while asleep) (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I have a network-wide pi hole and I noticed that it requested activity.windows.com, a url blocked by my pi hole, even while my pc is suspended. I pinged 10.0.0.217 and it is currently unreachable. So, somehow, windows pc’s turn on networking, phones home, and turns off even while suspended....

My Windows 10 machine comes up from sleep when nobody is anywhere near it. Seems weird to me. Also sometimes I wake it, sign in and the folder Music>Pictures (the regular Pictures folder… for some reason that’s where it is) is open in explorer. Couldn’t figure out whether it’s malware or Microsoft.

My phone is never plugged into my computer and I don’t have any service like that running that I know of.

It could be OneDrive (though I don’t use it at all) or even the ghost of the Explorer iCloud plugin.

It probably is that, makes sense. Not sure what devices would be doing it… (Xfinity router?). I even moved to a new house with different devices, router etc and it still did that.

You’re right, it could be a setting in Windows or perhaps the BIOS. I know there is often a ‘wake on LAN’ BIOS setting…

Like on reddit, positive visibility. Voting manipulation could affect which posts are shown as Hot or Active. Reddit also hides comments with many downvotes, which thankfully isn’t a thing here.

I never install an app if I can do something through a website. Twitbook, reddit, Instagram, whatever. If it really requires an app I generally choose to just not do it.

Yeah, I’ve never intentionally clicked on a Temu ad. Browsers do provide an additional layer of security as far as access permissions for mobile devices, though they can of course be exploited as well.

I view not returning carts as inconsiderate or lazy, but most employees I’ve heard discuss this say they don’t mind going out to get carts, because they get the chance to be out of the store for a while.

Back when it was on reddit the politics of chapostraphouse pretty much confused the fuck out of me. This image here is a good example. Nobody who is “left” or even “lib” would think that trump is anything but a lying criminal fascist douchebag, and would strongly question his motives for “ending the Korean war”, which seemed to be clumsily attempting to cozy up to a brutal dictator who he admired. So what are they talking about? Who knows. I don’t think they really know.

I don’t think people really want a bunch of automated reddit reposts. The posts seem to draw little engagement. It adds up to the oddest way to use reddit, and if you want to use reddit, might as well just go there.
