Seeing the other post here about YouTuber that went downhill and seeing content creators I am familiar with makes me sad. But how about those that still makes great, high quality content?
BeardMeetsFood - funny guy doing eating challenges, never thought I could like this kind of content, and the only one I watch in this category
Itchy Boots - Amazing travel videos from a Dutch girl riding her motorcycle through remote places on all continents. Very positive meetings with people all over the earth to give you back hope for humanity.
Nikolai Schirmer - Ridiculously high quality alpine skiing videos, mostly from Norway. Fantastic story telling and nature combined with too steep skiing. Shouldn’t be possible to get this quality for free.
Expedition Evans - very enjoyable videos of sailboat life for a couple and their two dogs.
Beau Miles - best story teller I know of. Adventurer that mostly make videos about local projects where he’s doing something that involves running very long while philosophizing about interesting topics.
Harry Mack - the most insane freestyle rapper ever, usually makes content on the spot for people on the street or online.
Sheena Melwani - Whenever I need a laugh. Her husband Trid is hilarious. Short videos of them laughing and joking basically.
Iron Chef Dad - wholesome videos with his son, for example making gourmet out of fast food.
Galdoc’s Tutorials - great DevBlog content from making a Factorio mod. Development, debugging, designing, Blender. Fairly technical. Great voice.
Stuff Made Here - great engineering channel, makes crazy contraptions like a moving basket hoop you’ll always hit, a hair cutting robot, auto-aiming bow etc.
Kind of a trend, the amount of youtubers who i had loved but their content became generic after gaining popularity is quite a bit, most drastic one being mrwhosetheboss, his uniqueness went down faster than MH27 MH17
I think he’s been incredibly consistent with his videos and don’t find any of his ads offensive or annoying, even though I’ll never buy something. I guess I disagree that the quality has changed. I do feel I’ve seen most content already though and he’s not doing much to keep interest growing.
His goal wasn’t to create an art project though, but to create an actual instrument he can use. The artistry stuff and making it look cool was what made MMX a failure. I agree that the MMX videos were still fantastic content, but that thing was doomed.
Tightness: it’s a compound effect of every part, so afaik he’s just trying to make sure each part is as precise as possible, and selecting the most precise / consistent design out of the available choices.
The MMX was doomed and not possible to save. It is exactly what it looks like: A cool looking contraption that can make some nice sounds using marbles, but it’s not an instrument you can use reliably in a band. You think it was hard for you to unsubscribe; how hard don’t you think it was for Martin to abandon the MMX? He wished it to succeed more than any of us, and probably abandoned it way too late because of it.
He does have great content and some great videos still that I enjoy, but it’s also clear he thinks he can understand and make a video about stuff he absolutely doesn’t understand.
The fall for me was when he fronted some random encrypted file sharing startup with very misleading marketing.
It’s wrong and misleading, and the "it’s Austria to save you a click” makes it worse, since you are inviting readers to digest this knowledge using only your misleading title and that sentence.
It’s rather amusing you can’t be bothered to fix your title when you know it is clearly wrong and you are willing to instead spend time defending your title in the comments.
There is enough poor content and misleading journalism on Reddit and elsewhere, I’m not sure why you want it here.
Now, since Austria is the happiest country in the EU it is quite possible also the happiest country in Europe. But we don’t have any source for that, so why defend it?
World was already the biggest by far when I first started lurking back in July, and it’s just getting more dominant. Before, there was quite some diversity in the distribution of generic communities, but nowadays the vast majority of posts that reach the top are from over there....
I think part of the issue stems from Lemmy not having a good way of tracking a topic / community defined on multiple instances, so you have to track a community on each instance. People want the most active one, so they track the one on LW since it has the most members. And since they track mostly communities on LW it also makes sense to just use LW as the primary.
If Lemmy could have some inbuilt support for tags or subscribing to a topic / multi-instance community, I think people could feel less inclined of defaulting to the largest instance.
I understand the frustration, but I do believe this is a strength of Lemmy. Small; individual communities is what gives incentive to stay independent, and if you just want the broader content, that’s exactly where and why large instances like Lemmy World is also beneficial.
The links does not work, but was it really based on that interview?
I think his take on the topic was reasonable - it’s allowed to just not want any more death or suffering on either side - but not realistic.
It was also one sided - you really can’t focus on what Ukraine can do without also saying who started it all and caused the war in the first place. He never mentioned that Russia started it and how easy it is for Russia to stop all suffering and achieve peace. At best you can say he’s given up on Russia, don’t think they’ll change, and try to get Ukraine to stop more suffering. But is that really realistic - did Russia stop after Donetsk in 2014? It’s not reasonable to think it will be different this time. Give Russia peace for 5 years and let them rebuild their strength? They’ll just start again and set target for Kiev.
Yeah I need to figure why I can’t follow the cross post here on Lemmy so i can get to the article.
I’ve watched the complete interview with Lex, so if this content is based on that, then title on this post here on Lemmy is junk, so if that’s the title used on the article I won’t have high hopes for that either.
I just despise clickbaited titles with statements that are twisted into someone elses opinion on the meaning behind what was said. I see it so often. I have no better solution currently than finding the actual source and make my own opinion, but it’s tiring. I do believe that “journalism” like this makes the world is worse place to live.
Yeah, well. I miss Lemmy from July I guess. Now, on any contended topic, I feel it’s no better than Reddit (except for the whole overlords censoring thingy). Have a look at Tildes for a little less stupid news reporting and articles.
That was so boring. I bought it on iTunes. Watched maybe an hour. Have had it available offline for several long haul flights and trips. Still can’t be bothered to finish it.
Boston Dynamics turned its robot dog into a talking tour guide using AI as seen in a somewhat unsettling video posted by Boston Dynamics. Then I agree. I guess that’s why I didn’t find this very interesting - you could strap speakers and ChatGPT to anything really, it has very little to do with the robot.
Lol, I love AI and develop with it almost every day. AI wasn’t the problem here, it was just weird to me that it was Boston Dynamics making this video. It was really surprising tbh. It’s a video I expect from someone doing this on their hobby RC car project or something.
For importing movies: two ways, depending on the state of your existing media.
Point Radarr to your media. It might detect everything. Radarr will let you set rules for file name and structure. Follow jellyfin guidelines. Then let Radarr reorganize your files to the new structure. Then import to Jellyfin
If it’s very disorganized, you might have to organize it according to the jellyfin guides yourself, or script it if you can, before importing to jellyfin.
Boyfriend of 2 years (best friend of 6) just told me he’s started seeing someone else. No discussion. Just ghosted me for a week and hit me with this news. Thought he was my soulmate, lmao. I feel like someone just ripped out my insides. Just turned 31 this year, this shit is not any easier than when I was a teenager....
I spent the rest of the day getting a new apartment, moved out, and used the night to move into my own, free space void of her. Not sure I slept, watched my favorite movies she didn’t like etc.
I only learned that she had already been seeing someone else the day after. That flipped a switch in me and all the pain went away. I knew she was the wrong choice and glad I was out of it and free.
Somehow, that she cheated made it much, much easier than that she just didn’t love me anymore. It turned into a f*ck you good riddance moment.
Her new bf even helped me moved some larger stuff a week later, I didn’t care at all, I was so done with her. Never looked back.
In one old apartment rented, the shower was next to the kitchen sink (toilet was out the window, over the roof, in a door). It was always tempting to just do the dishes at the same time.
Because no one creates one that will work on many media types.
The source information and structure of the media types can be quite different, you can’t just add books to sonarr for example. It’s often better with niche tools that to one thing well than some huge bloated software that does everything poorly.
Maybe one day someone will create what you are asking for.

Nothing will be neutral, but I like it to get an overview.
None of these articles are about his contribution to the technical part of the companies, except Twitter. Maybe I misunderstood what point you were trying to make.
lol that’s funny, didn’t know that was the cause for the latest LastPass breach. I just noped tf out of LastPass after that without looking back.
No I was just referring to their breach in August 2022 where I guess I was annoyed that they didn’t just invalidate/reset everyone’s password immediately. Instead, everyone had to try do to it on their servers, which couldn’t handle the traffic, so then a lot were either unable to reset password, unable to set new one, unable to reclaim server etc.
Also, when trying to calm us with mentioning everything they didn’t think was affected by the breach, it just made me realize that I’m done letting a company like Plex have all that data available to me.
Finally, they have to my knowledge still not acknowledged how the breach took place, just that they have taken steps to avoid it in the future.
