Constant slowdown in Baldur's Gate 3

I downloaded the GOG version (from a secure site) and it runs fine, my PC can handle it and it runs perfectly on medium at a stable 60fps, but sometimes when I play the game it seems “slow”, I can’t really describe it but it’s like the game runs fine at first and then drops below 20fps and when I restart the game it runs...

IMO this is the best option.

Drama aside, Skidrow really does “cracks”? I thought they were only repackers.

Voksi, you fokkin prick, DRM exists for a reason in this world, it protects legitimate interests of actual hard working people, that are entitled to get a decent income from their hard effort!!!

I’m not on any “side” but wut? We are talking about a repacker to a cracker, I think they can be considered equally “guilty” in the sense of “making hard-working people lose money” by distributing the games themselves. And what the hell, I’m pretty sure that’s not the reason DRM exists, and if it is, it’s to secure the income of companies, not their workers.

It may sound obvious, but doesn’t OBS have an option to disable mouse recording?

And I didn’t know that OBS could record DRM content, I had read that disabling hardware acceleration could do it but I never tried it.

Jackett's manual search is so, so good (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

To be clear, this is just a joke, and I don’t look down on direct downloading. It absolutely has its place, and sometimes I do it myself if it’s just faster to download a file directly. Torrenting is just so much more convenient, though, especially when using Jackett’s manual search.

What is Jackett’s manual search? Never heard of it.

Unfortunately I can’t donate but it looks like a very noble act on your part, I hope you make it happen and do well.

Any way to listen to music (privately?) (lemmy.ml)

I’m going insane. I cannot for the life of me find a suitable way to listen to music privately. I’m on iOS, and I don’t know whether to just stick to Apple Music or give up on music in general (I tried, TRIED to go local, but all the apps are shitty). Any way to listen to music and not have your data compromised? Should I...

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I’ll be honest, the only way to listen to music privately is to download it. (And using an opensource music player)

There are Github repositories with CLI programs to download complete Spotify playlists with Youtube and also download their metadata.

Maybe on Arch via AUR, although I have no idea because I don’t use Arch.

Personally I consider the best alternative is Spotify, and I know, it’s a telemetry and tracker nightmare but you don’t necessarily need to create an account using your main email, you can use a temporary email exclusively for your spotify account.

Personally, I used ViMusic and Moosync for a long time but then I really considered that at the end of the day I’m depending on Google and I’m giving my information to Google even though I’m using a front-end, which is not even a proxy, it’s Google.

In this case I consider that fragmentation is better, Spotify can’t recognize me from other services and I give less information to Google.

In case anyone is interested in an alternative, I personally use LanguageTool because it is open source and works very well.

Thank you very much for providing a link, it was really super simple.

Fedora seems to me a wonderful distribution and what I like the most is that it is like the “Vanilla” flavor of each DE and that it is really innovative. I’ve tried their Gnome and Plasma flavors and it’s been pretty good, except for a few things:

  1. Inability to install Nvidia drivers: In the past, maybe a year or year and a half ago I tried Fedora but when I installed Nvidia drivers and rebooted the system I had the problem that I always had a black screen, I reinstalled several times and I exhausted myself Now that I think about it, it is very possible that this is a problem of some Wayland dependency in Plasma, because that has happened to me in other distros and I simply changed to X11 and installed said package, or I could do it from TTY, but I never thought about that .
  2. I have nothing against snaps or flatpaks and it seems ridiculous to argue about that, everyone uses what works for them and likes it and in my case I use all the available package formats, but there are some Firefox extensions that I don’t they work because of the sandbox environment that flatpak provides, and some other programs that have a similar problem.

I guess all that will be fixed, one day I’ll give it a try again.

Interesting, thanks for the information.

It reminds me that I had read that Russia doesn’t care about foreign copyright either, and it makes sense.

A good read no doubt, it really makes it clear why piracy is and was often a necessity, not only for those who can’t afford to pay for something, but also those who live in an authoritarian regime. I wonder how Lin and Yu would have fared after the ban was lifted.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

To be honest, I think the only “piracy/privacy friendly” alternative would be to use a stolen credit card haha (I don’t recommend it at all and it’s a joke).

I think in general all these services will ask you for a credit card in one way or another, and that’s fine, they need to make sure that no one abuses their services. The closest thing to something “piracy friendly” you can do is to use an old laptop or computer and use it exclusively for that or even better in a virtual machine.

For those using IDM, consider File Centipede (Also available on Linux)

First of all, I want to clarify that I have 0 relationship with the development of this project and I am simply a Linux user who always wanted something similar to IDM and I want to share my discovery with more people, with the hope that this program will become more famous. ....

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I thought that too and it is not quite clear on their page, but it seems to me that the developer means that purchases will be refunded only if you want to once the project reaches 100k on Github. In my opinion sincerely if I donate today I doubt that the day the project reaches 100k I would ask for a refund, and anyway I would never ask for a refund if I want to support its development.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Thanks for mention it, I didn’t see that.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

That’s a good point that I forgot to mention, in File Centipede you can’t import .dlc files, an incredibly cool feature of JD2 that honestly is a disadvantage against those sites that split their downloads between different .zip files and it’s a pain to open each link and download it manually and even more when they are up to 500 links of 500mbs.

Maybe you can tell developer on his Github of the site where you couldn’t download the video, he usually answer.

Does kget work well? I tried it in the past, but it never really captured any link I gave it.

Same, I really wish this kind of posts have a context.

The best place for downloading APKs is Mobilism, although I don’t understand at all what mean “Unlocked apk”.
