That’s true, I must forget it. Thank you, is that at the time of writing this I already had given it permission and did not remember.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Could you tell me the exact error you are getting?

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

“Recommended” means that you can delete it without harming your device in any way, so you are free to delete any of the apps that have the “Recommended” label :). However, if you have any doubts you can click on the app you want to remove and it will usually have a description saying why it is recommended to remove it.

How is it possible to partition a HDD without corrupting its contents?

A moment ago I unmounted my 1TB HDD with 400GB of content and I partition it into two different partitions, obviously keeping the space that was already occupied. I did because I don’t care if the content get corrupted, but after I did it everything is still working perfectly, when I thought everything would be corrupted....

How can I search for Revolt communities?

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I’m probably wrong, but I think they’re generated by some AI.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

In all my years of pirating on Linux is the first time I’ve heard of this tool, could you give a brief description of it? Their Github isn’t entirely clear and his website is completely in Russian.

Sounds pretty interesting, definitely I’m gonna try it up.

Where to get Minecraft for Arch Linux from?

Arrrr my fellow pirates. Since I’m very unexperienced with the seas I ask for you guys, where can I get Minecraft from for Arch Linux. It’s not because I’m not willing to pay 20€ but because Microsoft is a giant bitch and I’m not willing to put money in their mouth(especially after they changed their privacy policy).

PollyMC is a Prism Launcher fork but with “offline mode” and works perfectly on my opinion. I recommend downloading the flatpak version as the appimage asks you for certain versions of Java that are easy to install but sometimes gets a little complicated.

And yes, Micro$hit can eat shit. I personally bought Minecraft but on the day I was forced to migrate my Mojang account to a Micro$oft account with the threat that “If I don’t do it I’ll lose access to my game” I delete my Mojang account and use PollyMC since.

Xirup, (edited )
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Yes, that’s why I mentioned that it’s based on Prism Launcher. I wonder who still use PolyMC.

It looks great! I love when the websites give you the link of their RSS in your face. I know that many sites is simply add “/rss” or “/feed” at the end of their URL but it seems to me that it have become a trend that the websites hide their feed url.

[help] Any open-source Youtube clients for Linux Mint?

I’m looking for a youtube client that can conveniently “store” and switch between YT channels. Specifically, I’m looking for something that I can use to tailor my YT algorithm and feed by creating new accounts for different interests and purposes (one for tech, another for gaming, one for each varied hobby I’m...

Xirup, (edited )
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

With FreeTube you can change between “profiles” in which each one is subscribed to different channels and has a different feed.

I hope no one gets offended, but is there anyone who can explain why the indians say “Sir” like that? I mean, it’s so characteristic, I don’t criticize it, I’m just genuinely curious.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I just tried it and I love it, I have absolutely nothing against the other recommended games but I’m more player Battlefield-type FPS and this is just awesome, thank you!

To update Wine you simply need to go to the graphical package manager of your distro, also called “Software Store” and update it.

And it would be interesting more context to help you about your configuration and machine, because I doubt very much that an upgrade of Wine will make a program run or not, it depends on much more things, as precisely the dependencies of the program itself.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

That, and also why it looks (and possibly is) generated by an AI?

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Recently a user in [email protected] created this post about URLCheck, it is quite complete and has many options, in fact if I’m not wrong it can also redirect links from proprietary services like Youtube to open source front-ends like Invidious or Piped, so I don’t see why with a little research you couldn’t access it directly from the article.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Honestly I’m jealous of you, I have a Nvidia GPU and both Xorg and Wayland run poorly on Plasma. Wayland corrected many things but brought others problems, and Plasma’s experience at Xorg is degranding.

I am jealous because I am already used to my workflow in Plasma, and besides, I love Plasma, but otherwise it would be a Gnome fan.

And it’s curious because I also have the problem of windows or mouse leaving a ghost shadow in certain windows. In programs like Yuzu or RPCS3 that makes playing simply impossible, I thought that was a problem at the level of Nvidia drivers, not DE, maybe try Gnome, thanks OP.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

It is completely usable but this “lag” or “dragging sensation” feels disgusting at least on my PC.

Xirup, (edited )
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

It is X11, Wayland in my case works fine but I have the problem that you mentioned, that the windows and mouse has a ghosting effect

And no, I only have one monitor.

I honestly hate Nvidia, I hope Plasma 6 fixes things for me as for you Gnome 44 fixes its problems.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I am interested in this topic but I unlike the OP do not know anything about the theme, what difference does Usenet have from a debrid service like AllDebrid? if I’m not wrong, Alldebrid download on their servers by torrent the magnet you give it and you just download it as a direct download, what difference does this have with Usenet?

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I will never understand this controversial stupidity, why people can not use what they want and this without having “prejudice”?

Xirup, (edited )
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

This is not the first time this has happened, so it is probably temporary.

Also, the .onion of the site still works.

Remember that to access the .onion you need to first decode the text I send (without the Lemmy URL) with a tool like Base64 and use the Tor browser.

Edit: They also have a Mastodon account where they keep actively informing about the situation of the site, just 11 hours ago they said they have a problem that they cannot solve.

Mobilism is usually a very good source to get modded apps with unlocked paid subscriptions.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

According to FMHY and Piracy’s megathread and my own experience, yes, but it never hurts scan every app you plan to install with VirusTotal and use only mods from known publishers, like Mixroot or Derrin.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Modyolo and Androeed are other sites I can recommend, but I don’t have as good an experience there as I have had with Mobilism.

Out of pure curiosity, what are the names of the apps you are looking for?

TIL; You can use any desktop Firefox addon in Firefox for Android by changing the user agent to Desktop Firefox and no need to create or have a collection.

To do this, first you need to have Firefox Nightly or Beta installed on your phone, then go to addons.mozilla.org and search in the search bar for User-Agent Switcher and install it by pressing the “Add to Firefox” button and now you should have User-Agent Switcher installed....

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I think the same, If it were not for the changes that Mozilla has been doing recently to bring more extensions to mobile devices, User-Agent Switcher could not be installed at all.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Can confirm, it doesn’t work.

@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Very interesting, I’ve been looking for a long time for DeepL front-end, which is a very good translator! Thanks for sharing OP.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

That’s true but I don’t translate anything especially critical, but it’s works great when DeepL no longer lets you translate more after getting over their daily limit.

And even though they have my text, they don’t know where it really comes from because it comes from a proxy. (Although this makes me thing: Now the proxy maintainer have my text?)

What are you supposed to do if you download the wrong torrent?

A few days ago I download a movie but the movie was in another language and I’m definitely not going to watch it because of that, I still completed the 1:1 ratio because at the end of the day I downloaded the file and used other people’s bandwidth, but what is one supposed to do in this situation?...

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I know I ask a while after but I have your answer in mind for days and I have a somewhat subjective question: How many seeders can be considered few seeders? For example, right now I downloaded the latest Garuda Linux ISO and it has 30 seeders (the Gnome version) but with what you said I really don’t see the need to seed this because I’m going to seed something that already has many seeders and Garuda is constantly renewing its ISOs.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Have you tried Parsec? You can download the client as a host on your gamer PC and the guest on your laptop and honestly it works very well in my opinion.

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Thank for sharing OP, I just installed Firefox Nightly and it worked, although is not very intuitive.

(I installed Browsec)

Calendar and tasks sync between devices

Ever since I started degoogling my life, i missed how to integrate calendar and tasks in all my devices. Because of my work Im stuck using Macos and I have a debloated samsung device with F-droid. However I need a way of syncing calendars and tasks between Macos and my phone, so I can get push notifications on both of my devices...

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

You don’t necessarily need to self-host Nextcloud for yourself, you can pay a provider to do it for you, of course, at a price, or free but with limitations, like The Good Cloud.

You can also try EteSync.

And in F-Droid there are many apps to integrate your Nextcloud instance with your device, my favorite are Ente (for calendar), Tasks(dot)org and Joplin

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Since people on forums tend to be stupid and not help the OP when they say something wrong or have a grammatical/orthographic error, here is the link to a post I made several days ago on c/[email protected] about a browser extension that detects captchas and resolves it automatically, not exactly what you want because still “contribute to the problem” but hey, it actually damage captcha since a bot is solving the captcha, and it’s suppose to be a human.

Perplexity IA recommending me using modded versions instead of paying for premium features (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Browsing the internet I found this app called VMOS which is basically an Android emulator inside Android and it’s great for testing or playing pirated games, the problem is that the app is almost completely in Chinese and I was curious to investigate how much the “Premium” version that unlocks root access and other things...

Xirup,
@Xirup@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

This is really the only app that I don’t feel comfortable downloading a modified version of… The base apk already detects threats in Virustotal and the modified versions only increase the number of warnings.

Does anyone have experience with this app?
