Depends on the app. Mlem is native, and Voyager is a web view app wrapper. But Voyager definitely doesn’t feel like a web view. It was written to feel like a native app, I’m really impressed. And that’s coming from someone who generally hates web apps.

It works once you tap “I’ve disabled my ad blocker”

TheRaven,

You’re entitled to a full refund for that at least, but getting it and rebooking a flight that works will be another annoyance.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

Policy doesn’t matter. The recent law overrides their policy.

Refunds — If the alternate travel arrangements offered don’t meet your travel needs

If an airline (large or small) offers you alternate travel arrangements that do not meet your travel needs, you are entitled to a refund.

“Within the airline’s control” is pretty clearly outlined in the law. It’s not a grey area.

The law also states that the new booking must be reasonable. And before you say that “reasonable” is grey, it gives examples of that. Missing the connecting flight would be unreasonable. So would missing the purpose of the trip. A refund would be pretty easy to ask for in this circumstance.

Same here. I’ll finish the episode and the discussion thread isn’t even posted here yet. It’s the only time I go to Reddit now.

TheRaven,

I felt kinda bored for the first 75% of the episode. It was just fighting. The last 25% redeemed it. Baylen was great, and Hayden showing up made me incredibly happy. Although his de-aging distracted me a little.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

How did Ahsoka get into the World Between Worlds? Did she literally just fall into it?

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

It can also be fixed in a few years. After all, Star Wars is notorious for re-releases. Fixing up de-aging would be a good way to do this.

X/Twitter has updated its Terms of Service to let it use Posts for AI training (stackdiary.com)

Here’s the kicker: based on these AI-assigned definitions in the updated terms, your access to certain content might be limited, or even cut off. You might not see certain tweets or hashtags. You might find it harder to get your own content seen by a broader audience. The idea isn’t entirely new; we’ve heard stories of...

I read that as “I wear baklava”. Each to their own.

TheRaven,

Agreed, but even if free ad tiers exist, web trackers have to also exist to track everything you do, just in case you use the ad tier again.

Privacy shouldn’t be something unaffordable.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

It’s also hard to judge right now.

I’m not enjoying Ahsoka as much as I’d like to, but I can’t make a great judgement call just yet. What we’ve seen may play really well into the last episodes, and I may really love this show. It’s too early to tell.

I didn’t like Andor all that much for the first 5 episodes, but in Episode 6, I felt like the it all had been working up to a great episode. I would judge the first 5 episodes differently after watching episode 6.

Are these episodes great? I’m enjoying them, but I may enjoy them way more depending on how the last half of the season goes.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

Yeah. The force is in everyone. Some are just better at it than others. And some put in more effort into honing their skills because they were adopted by the Jedi Order.

Is Sabine force sensitive? Not very. Can she wield the force and become a Jedi? Yes, but it’ll be harder for her than others.

Was Chirrut force sensitive? Not very, but he could sense some people around him and the force would guide his fighting.

Was Finn force sensitive? Yes, but we’ll have to wait and see how much. Hopefully lots and we get to see Jedi Knight Finn.

That hairstyle was just a phase. Maybe the rebellion didn’t have the best hair stylists.

TheRaven,

Just wait for “A Certain Point of View: Rogue One” to come out. Some author will write a short story explaining it.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m doubtful they’ll adapt novels, but I do hope they stay true to Zahn’s writing. The Empire loyalists try to bring back Thrawn, hoping it’ll bring back the Empire, but it just brings about the threat of a Chiss Ascendancy.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

We call it the Ascending Ascendant Ascendancy.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

Definitely not how it works. It’ll be a tool for programmers to make them more efficient. It’ll be like the difference between a hammer and nails and a nail gun. You still need the worker to know where to put the nail.

TheRaven,

Surely “the rest of BC” doesn’t include Vancouver…

Seriously. All I want out of Translink is tap to pay with my phone. I don’t want wristbands or keychains. I want an app, and I want it to work with my phone’s wallet.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

I agree. I like that they’re taking their time, but I hope the entire season isn’t just the search for Ezra.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m not feeling it, but I understand. If it makes you feel any better, it looks like it’s slowing to 2 seasons (of 8-10 episodes) and 1 movie per year. The movies also don’t start until 2026.

Heritage Minister says Meta news block endangers lives as Canadians flee wildfires (www.thecanadianpressnews.ca)

Canada's Heritage Minister redoubled her calls for Meta to end its ban on Canadian news content on Facebook and Instagram on Saturday as thousands of Canadians continued their rush to escape wildfires ravaging British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.

Apple works hard to make sure they don’t seem cheap. Their content has been top notch. But it can be really easy for 3D to make a movie worse. I think you’re right to be nervous.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

It makes sense that this could be really cool. But when it’s rendered for 2D screens it still needs to look great and not feel gimmicky.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

We don’t have to imagine. We see it all the time.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

I think a lot of those specific communities will naturally grow as they air and as Lemmy gets more popular. If The Last of Us had aired after the migration, we would definitely see that one as an active community.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

I submit Harry Potter as evidence.

I think the theory can just be that the studio has a lot of confidence in the movie. They may be wrong sometimes.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

I hope they don’t do that until they force car manufacturers to be using wireless CarPlay for years. If they drop a port, a lot of car owners won’t be able to use CarPlay.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

So don’t agree to the terms of service? This could count as consent.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

They already do. This just removed more ways to hide.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

To further add to this, a unit would be something basic like litre, metre, or a gram. So 1000 litres is a kilolitre. 1000 metres is a kilometre. 1000 grams is a kilogram. You may be familiar with the computer byte. A kilobyte is 1000 bytes. A megabyte is 1000 of those. Everything is divisible by 10, and everything makes sense.

Interestingly, even though a calorie isn’t a metric unit (the joule is), the energy to raise 1 millilitre of water by 1 degree Celsius is 1 calorie.

Also, 1 gram of water is 1 millilitre. And if you measure that in size, that’s 1 cubic centimetre. So if you go buy a litre of water, you know it’ll be 1000 cubic centimetres, and it’ll weight 1kg.

TheRaven,

Seriously. Many ingredients are different depending on if they’re packed, scooped, or sifted. 1 cup of brown sugar can be very different than another cup.

Andy: Did you see who did it?

Dwight: No need we can just check the security tapes.

Michael: Gah. Kind of a good news bad news there. I was able to be on the scene so quickly because I was in the car that hit her.

Jim: Who was driving?

Pam: Oh, Michael.

I wouldn’t say that imperial England is uphill though…

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

Somehow Palpatine returned…

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

So we should forget the prequels where a Sith operates in private to gain power? Same Sith who resurrected himself? Should we forget the last thousand years where the Sith operated so secretly that they were thought by the Jedi to be extinct? Or the comics where they explore wanting so desperately to kill Jedi, but needing to maintain their secrecy more? How about the originals where Palpatine gained power and never revealed he was a Sith to the masses? The Sith ARE the shadows. I agree that the story wasn’t fleshed out well enough in the sequels. They have their flaws, and this may be one of the biggest, but the idea that the Sith would operate publicly and transparently is laughable.

TheRaven,
@TheRaven@lemmy.ca avatar

It’s both

TheRaven,

I’ve worked with people like that. They’re the real dumbasses.

It’s an understandable argument to say that rental costs will go up if air conditioners are required. However air conditioners are proving to be as essential as water and electricity. With recent summers, apartments without air conditioners can be deadly, especially for the elderly.
